nice voice, nice acting, beautiful singer, but the stage director didnot understand one thing. in the neckalce and bracelet moment she shoul have put the necklce away to concentrate on the bracelet. the meaning is that on that very moment marguerite feels that something's wrong with the piece of jewellery (Mephisto cration thus cursed). she is to girlishy vain and sings the part to lightly but it is nevertheless a good performance

I love her voice....I feel like she has no idea what's happening to Marguerite though. I mean, essentially this is her damnation - innocence lost. and Marguerite has never even seen herself in a mirror before- she doesn't even know how beautiful she is- I feel like she should be more shocked, and in awe of her own beauty.
There is no one knowledge of music, but she have at least the merit to sing all the notes sufficently good, with a certain elegance and class, with good intonation and vibrato, and without too much vulgarity. And when I say sufficently good I mean better than Callas, Moffo & c. She was too classy, this could be the reason she didn't become as famous as the others in a period in which vulgarity and disdain for musicality were the "must have".
Yes, Sylvia Sass was and is a crown jewel of Hungary, I still remember her Verdi Requiem, the best soprano I ever heard in live in the final "aria",faultless, wonderful last octave-the one which is a nightmare for a lot of lady singers
I love the way she sings this so full of excitement. She has a good coloratura technique. She has a bigger voice then some Marguerites, but she lightens her voice and it's brighter here.
What a revelation! I've never heard her in French opera before. I have loved her ever since I first bought her albums in the early 80s, but I only know her singing Verdi and Puccini and a little Mozart. Her voice is ravishing here, and she lightens it up so nicely. It's a such a change from her Lady Macbeth, which is my favorite role of hers.
I second you on that! Unexpectedly appropropriate, touching performance. I say unexpectedly only because she has such a big voice. But she's capable of the needed subtlety here too.
what a voice!

I think the acting goes perfectly with the music.

i really like her interpretation and she sounds really good
but i think that she needs to work on pronouncing her consonants, because its hard to hear them
but over all, she did a great job with this

Beautiful voice, but I'm not crazy about the acting. Overall a lovely performance, though.

I know that few will agree, but I actually prefer a faster tempo on this particular aria.

This is my favorite version of this aria. She looks like Catherine Zeta Jones from Zorro. Love it

Does she still sing? Haven't heard much about her since the 80's. LOVE her voice...plus...she's HOT!
