His problem is that he just throws too hard for his own good. There's non sugar coating it for any pitcher, every pitch is a violent motion and the human body isnt meant to take that kind of extreme abuse. Joints, tendons, and ligaments can tear with just one pitch and unfortunately, we're seeing that in strasburg now

He looked solid in his debut against Pittsburgh. But again, it was against the Pittsburgh Pirates. But it'll be interesting how he matches up against the top tier teams with their big bats in St Louis, Philly, the Dodgers, Colorado, etc. But nevertheless, his performance against Pittsburgh is a good start to hopefully a productive baseball career.

All a top prospect means is that he'll be a decent big leaguer. What's funny is ALL the guys named, Prior, Van Poppel, Brian Taylor, what did they do in their career? O yea, jack shit. The Braves chose Larry Jones over Van Poppel (I believe) and it's worked out pretty good for them. Strasburg might have all sorts of stuff, but stuff only gets you so far, you have to be smarter. If you're never challenged, you don't have to be smart.

First of all he WILL be a top 10-15 starter in the majors immediately when they move him up. His stuff is THAT good. As for the comparison with Burnett, I agree totally. He has better command with all of his pitches, throws harder and has already developed a change-up, something Burnett doesn't throw. Imagine facing 100mph and in any count he can pull the string, hes gonna make a lot of hitters look dumb and hes gonna get even better.

i think people should look how strasburg did in the olympics as the level of batting there is more likely what he will see in the majors and minors. Cuba worked strasburg fairly well but nothing to say he is not the best player in this years draft. The only people that hit strasburg in the netherlands game were the minor leaguers. All in all i think strasburg needs one years in the minors. But to only give up 3 runs against Cuba in 4-5 innings is pretty good for a college player.

I think he was talking about the amount of force put on the arm that it takes to throw a ball 99MPH plus. That guy is definitly filthy though. His mechanics are so smooth...thats the easiest 99 mph fastball I recall ever seeing...and I played a ton of baseball folks.
