This song means a lot to me. Are we human? Or are we just trapped in the ideals of manners, laws, and society? It's hard to say if following all the rules makes us human, or just dancers (or puppets, slaves, etc.) My favorite Killers song.

The line is "are we human or are we DANCER" the entire song is based on a Hunter S Thompson quote "'America was raising a generation of dancers" meaning that the US was making people afraid of stepping out and following their own beat.. so pretty much this is brilliant. the lyrics aren't silly. They are comparing being a dancer to being a robot. Dancers go through choreographed motions, it is planned not spontaneous like life. Dance like every other art form can be done with perfect technique and no emotion and it just looks robotic. In order to be a successful artist of any kind you need to be a human first, put your emotion and passion into what your doing. a dancer is one dimensional; a human that dances is beautiful.
