  • That's true. When I went natural I felt so free of all the chemicals lol. I still flat iron when I want but it's not often. I started working out just to feel good, which triggered eating healthier. I have to say thanks to going natural lol.

  • I totally agree with you. I think it's a natural progression. We become more aware of the products we put on our hair and then it rolls over into other aspects of our lives.

  • very true message......its me :)

  • I am trying to watch the shea butter video to get the ingredients. It won't play for some reason. can you help me?

  • I hope my twists look as good as yours!

  • ur twist outz are alwayz soooo beautiful!!

  • I totally have experienced that 'cycle'. It makes you more...MINDFUL, when you care for your own hair-instead of throwing it to the stylist...I love YouTube!

  • This is exactly what has been happening to me

  • true! Your hair is so beautiful in this vid. is it a twist out?

  • Your hair is beautiful! Has your hair always been long and healthy? I have not had any chemicals on my hair for 10months. Not sure of having the big chop. Did you have that done to your hair? Or just had a trim every so often?

  • you are so beautifull. Wow

  • i couldn't agree more!

  • your twist out is fabulous.

  • When I started to go natural, I stated doing something of the thing you mention. have noticed going natural ( when you're out of that akward first few monthes of the love/hate relationship with your hair) has made people more confident. They started love and express themselves more. I know I did.

  • What a beautiful hairstyle!! So you have a video that demonstrates how you achieved that look?

  • The best natural product I've used was aloe vera plant...straight from the plant blended with some coconut, olive, and grapeseed oil! awesome

  • good one!!!

  • I enjoy watching your videos. I decided to go natural because I am just tired of relaxers, and I believe that there is beauty in the hair that comes from our scalps. I find natural hair to be so versatile and beautiful. I am new to hair care, so I truly see you as an inspiration.

    Stay Blessed!

    Emefa.

  • I love this! It is so nice I am not alone as an African American. Blessings!

  • I agree. It's the changing of the mind... all healthy living/thinking is related. Good post!

  • beautiful hair how did u get it like tht?

  • That's an excellent obervation! I went had my dreads done in jun 08 and 6 months later i became vegetarian. I never fully understood how i quit eating meat so easily until now... Its like a spiritual awakening or something :)

  • ...next the music....

  • Well said. We need to look out for ourselves. Who else is gonna do it? Our hair, our physical/mental health, better lifestyle choices equals better you and me.

  • This style really suits you. I like it alot.

  • very true. i developed alot of self love for my heritage when i went natural. i think i have been natural for about 2 year. the protective hairstyle that i use are sewins. i never touch my hair n it has great moisture and length

  • I can definitely relate, when i decided to go natural i began using organic products, and went on a raw food diet, now i exercise everyday and im more positive and confident.

  • Yea, man I have been transitioning for a while and I am going through that change, actually some from watching your videos...I started using ACV to cleanse my hair and I love it so i've been looking into more natural products I hope that eating healthy comes to me also b/c I love my junk food! LOL, but I would love that change.

  • I went back to using natural oils on my skin and taking whole food vitamins, eating more veggies and just becoming more aware of the things i do to my body. being natural has a tendency of heightening our sense of awareness to whats best for our physical, mental, and spiritual beings.

  • this is sooo true! I'm 18 years old and ive never had a perm, so ive never really had to "go natural," but my sister started going natural as of last febrary and did the bc in october. Since I've never had to "go natural" on my own, so i went natural vicariously through my sister's journey. She started using all natural and organic products to ensure healthier hair, so I decided to start using those products. And youre right, its caused a domino effect.

  • You look so radiantly beautiful ! thank you so much for this video.

  • its very powerful..it made me feel prettier too. Also when i go out i feel like ive been getting a little more respect from ppl than i used to..and its a WHOLEE lot cheaper

  • Honestly, I do NOT like to push any of my beliefs on ANYONE but 9/10 black women would be so happy if they did go natural. I can say this from my own personal experience since I went natural. My hair got damaged really bad from a relaxer and I had to cut it all off 2 years ago (seriously...lol). I mean, my hair was boy cut short but I started taking care of my hair like Rusticbeauty (and all of the other naturals on youtube) and within a year, my hair was past my shoulders and very healthy.

  • I agree! I think it goes from our hair to our diets and daily body products because we learn soo much about bad ingredients and want to eliminate them completely. Very Powerful Indeed! Eye Opening...

    Stay Blessed :-)

  • you, your hair, and your soul is so beautiful

  • You are right going natural puts you in your proper mindframe. Blacks who are consumed with having strait hair hate the way God made them. You can disagree but dont look for an argument i dont waist time arguingwith stupid mothafuckers.

  • I've watched this video tons of times; short, powerful, and TRUE! Did Someone request that you post this topic? Thank you so much; this is somewhat the outline of my process. But I think that the change starts before the transition to Natural Hair, because it takes a strong woman to do so. I think that the Transition may in fact be the first outward display of the internal change.

But I AM vegetarian, do (LOVE) kemetic yoga, the closest relationship with the God EVER, shea butter, the whole 9!

  • It's not "just a fucking hairstyle". Black people (particularly black women) have a long history of applying chemicals and flat irons to their hair and scalps in order to be more like white people/their white master. To embrace yourself just as you are, all the way down to your own natural hair texture the way it grows out of your scalp is, in a word, POWERFUL. Now, go troll elsewhere.

  • @blahblahblahman Dumbass it's not to be "like their white masters" it's because the majority of men WORLDWIDE simply find it unattractive. I have this hairtype and I don't plan on passing it directly onto my kids. Besides, Asian hair is by far much straighter than European hair.

  • @hedgehoghoodlum well it was white people who enslaved us, not asians. and yes it was because black people wanted their hair like the white people. why dont u get ur facts straight on the history of black hair and learn where this "nappy headed" phrase came from. and about how blacks permed their hair to be treated better by "the master" and a better chance at escaping slavery. how about reading a book that not from asia. where were the asians during slavery? oh i know, ASIA!!!

  • @oprah7 You don't get it... super coiled hair is not an appealing trait on women, and to a lesser degree men (regardless of race). Japanese hair straightening was not invented not to look more "white" but to appeal to the direction of natural selection. Better genes, or the image of such is what helped many slaves escape slavery and/or find a mate. Get out of your purely Afro-centric viewpoint already.

  • @hedgehoghoodlum what what are you talking about i know many races of boys who like coilly textured hair, and mind you my school is made up of over 80% white and only 7% black. straight hair is not a better gene. the world was brain washed into thinking that straight hair is the best hair. And first of all you have that "coily" textured hair and you should embrace it

  • @blahblahblahman No you're right. Hair straightening started in the 1800's so that slaves could try and please masters and those who bought slaves in the slave trades bought the slaves that had "fairer" skin and softer textured hairs because they wanted the best looking slaves. So... there starts the identity crisis.

  • @blahblahblahman Why do people think that black people with chemical treated hair wanna be like white people? If you want straight hair and there's a product for it, why not use it.? If you wanna change the color of your hair and there's a product for it , use it. Most (black) people put chemicals or weave in their hair because its easier to manage and because they look good with it. Let people make their own choices in live. They don't harm anybody with it..damn... Mind ur own f.***business

  • I'm 53 and I've been vegetarian for about 20 years and vegan for ten. I've had two set of locs. I do yoga, belly dance, salsa and everybody thinks I'm about 30 something. This is what the natural hair can do for you. I had a chronic lung disease it's gone. It's the way of the God/dess...you can't go wrong. It retards the aging process. Your hair is soooo beautiful. It makes me want to cut off my hair and do twist!

  • I agree 100% I was just having this conversation yesterday! When I started doing research on natural products and started transitioning, I was careful about the products I chose to put on my hair, that lead to me wanting to eat healthier foods, I have lost 50 lbs in 5 months since I began transitioning, I also have a greater spiritual life as well as this journey has brought me closer to the Father, and a greater appreciation of the person I naturally am. It's all connected Thanks for this vid!

  • I have Natural for hair 2 yrs, & Vegan for 3 yrs too, I had to learn to do my hair. Always wanted to be natural. For me its about loving yourself & self acceptance.

I never relazed my hair was curly, I know, its sounds crazy, all this time I thought it was just nappy.

I let the relaxer grow out & learned to love my hair & do my hair.

No I see the versatility in my hair. I can do anything and any look

  • very very true

  • Natural hair is healthy and it makes you want to implement that health in other areas of your life...so true!

  • This is so true. I am vegan now. My change was so gradual that I look back and think just how much I have changed (for the better)

  • You have gorgeous skin! Is that because you are a vegetarian? What do you use on your skin?

  • to be honest i turned vegetarian BEFORE i desided to go natrual. i desided to cut out on the meat when i was in middle school then in my freshman year in high school i desided to go natrual. I wore kinky twists until my senior year. i begged my mom to let me wear an afro, but she wasn't havin' it lol. it toke until my senior year to convince her to let me get dreads. its been a year now and i have dreads! they touch my shoulders now.

  • Nice video. Ironically, I became a vegetarian a little less than 2 years ago and that's what started the ball rolling for me to want natural hair.

  • This is SO true. Oh my goodness, when you were explaining the process from going hair natural to all natural, i SO thought we knew each other because that sounds exactly like the process I went through. (Now I drink soy milk... i would have NEVER even considered soy milk back when I had relaxed hair!) I feel so empowered watching this video. It's nice to know that there is a larger community out there that understands. :-) Natural forever!

  • has your hair always been long?

  • u hair is beautiful and ur very pretty

  • I just love ur kicked-up natural make-up. Please do a tutorial from beginning to end. Especially the eyes!

  • Woman you are beautiful and yes im awake and concious and natural and it is VERY POWERFUL I'm with the Most High so I can't do nothing but elevate Peace Sis

  • good for you. im tired of this nation constantly getting blacks to dump chemicals on their heads. those relaxers are not good for you. they are made of many heavy metals and alkali metals. serious stuff. ive been looking high and low for a natrual haired black black. we have all been brainwashed against ourselves.

  • what kind of food u eat will help ur hair grow and does braids help ur hair grow? im 11 so please answer my question.

  • hi! been natural since birth, never relaxed my hair but some really good foods to eat are:

    1. dark leafy greens (no light green, expansive lettuce)

    2. Not a lot of fruit with high acidity (like pineapple and kiwi)

    3. Nuts! all kinds of nuts

Also, you should start taking fish oil or flaxseed capsules everyday! very, very, very good for the hair and skin!

    I hope that helps:-)

    peace

  • fruits, vegetables, and meat will make your hair groww. also drinking water.

  • Girl, this is so true! Going natural is powerful! I was already a healthy person before going natural but it's like I've taken it to another level!

  • omg this is so true

  • I think going natural is the best cleansing system. It's almost like a life changing experience. Things that never irritated me before now really get on my nerves such as hearing women talk about how they can't go outside cause their relaxers are due.

  • @Kittyc908 I know exactly what you are talking about. Or they don't want to swim because they don't want to get their hair messed up. I love bike riding, swimming, and walking. I do have a nice figure as well. I just hate when black men say I have a nice weight range for a black girl. But when you look around a lot of black women are overweight. Maybe being natural is a lifesaver and just learning to appreciate being healthy and exercising and having fun while doing it.

  • @Kittyc908 lol toally agree

  • @Kittyc908 LOL I would have made you sick back in the day. I was just thinking of how I used to be and it's like I'm so glad that I'm not insecure like that anymore. I love myself now. I look at a lot of these black celebrities and I see them just as I was back then and they don't think they are as beautiful as we make think of them so they change everything about themselves and still feel horrible because they have never accepted their own true beauty as individuals. Insecurity cost too much :)

  • @Longhairstile I love that "insecurity costs too much" that is so true. Wasting money to be a shallow definition of beautiful. Is so sad. All the money women spend on going to the beauty salon to get relaxers, flat irons and what not.. omg.

  • @sunnyashers Thanx :)

  • this video is so true, bc i made the decision to go natural and then decided to exercise and just change my whole appearance. I dont think I could go as far as not eating meat but only time can tell...

  • I love a women with natural thick hair, its so elegant, natural hair is whats up.

  • peace and blessings to you and the earth and universe....one love

  • i love your spirit ...you are beautiful inside and out

  • i would look so bad if i cut my hair off to go natural, i cut my hair short already and it was not a good look. i just couldn't handle it. sad thing is my hair is amazing in it's natural state and grows like a root but i'm just not brave enough right now. one day though.

  • Wow your hair looks very pretty here.

I would love to know how you got that look :/

  • i wanna grow hair

  • I'm luving your hair. It is so pretty and bouncy.

  • HOPE

  • sista could you tell me what camera you are using...the quality is really good!

  • (ArtforISrael) Kodak M1033 HD

  • true true

  • how do you style your hair that way

  • great job1

  • I love your hair! was it always long? what did u put in to help with growth or was it just time and tlc? what do u suggest for breakage?

  • isit :o

  • ur beautifull

    u look natural mayn

  • how do you get your hair like that

  • she does a twist out...dnt thynk she answers questions because she repeats the answers alot!

    So just tellin u

  • You have some of the best looking natural springy coils..just beautiful.

  • really? i hope mine does better because i plan on cutting it in 2010....so i want the curls to be a good length lol

  • SOOO True

  • This is very true-it's usually due to all the research you do when searching for products and finding out how unhealthy some chemicals are. The same ingredients that are in hair care are in food and other body care. Btw, lovin your vids

  • I have to strongly agree with you here!...thanks for your insight...: )

  • I agree

  • does being vegetarian effect hair growth? i've been transitioning for 8 months now, and just started being vegetarian in feb...random, but i was just wondering because i have to eat meat again for my hair to grow longer i think i'm going to be sick lol

  • (MrsSeanPaul) I was vegt. for a year and had no problems, and I currently limit my meats...so I believe if you really stick to eating a healthy vegt. diet you will be fine.

  • thanks!

  • @MrsSeanPaul not really but there are so many healthy things you can eat to help with your protein intake. like soya and tofu and natural greens like chlorella and spirulina. even drinking maximum strength aloe vera juice, and other vitamins.sorry im rambling but i take all of this stuff and they are awesome. lol if you want any more in depth from me then dont hesitate to contact me.

  • your hair looks great!

  • ur pretty. love ur make up esp ur eyes. u shud do a tutorial:)

  • speakin of natural, your skin looks beautiful:0)

  • very true

  • You are so right about this. Since going natural, I've also incorporated a more minimalist approach to living as well, after going natural (with my hair). I no longer want to have an excess of products in my home that I don't need.

  • i am natural, but i am having a heck of a time finding just the right products. What is the BEST conditioner that you recommend for natural black hair. My hair is curlier in the front than it is in the back, but it is super dry.

  • hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you look soooooooooo good like that i love long hair but that style fit you very nice

p.s. Will you marry me? hit me back

  • u r lovely

  • Yeah I agree, I read somewhere that our hair (African-American) in it's natural state acts as an anteanna to the cosmos. I believe this because it also contains melanin just as 'dark matter' does. This video only confirms this theory as you pointed out that you notice a 'trend' that we start to demand healthier choses for ourselves. I think it's truly getting back to our 'roots' (no pun intended well maybe a little). I wear braids but love the texture of my natural hair. I swim so I braid.

  • Girl...your hair is gorgeous.

I kind of feel like your texture is extremely similiar to mine. I don't have your length, which I would Love to have...send a sista some tips...please

  • Your hair is beautiful, but I am sure you know this. Continue to rock it girl!

  • i've been natural all of my life and it was just second nature to use natural products and to remain healthy

  • what does kinky twists do for your hairr?

  • (iluvcandy342)What exactly do you mean?

  • does it make hair grow?

  • (iluvcandy342) Your hair is going to grow regardless of what you do to it. The real question is-will you retain the length? Braids, kinky twists are good styles because you don't mess to much with your real hair thus ppl report more hair growth.

  • ok. What products can i use to help it grow

  • (iluvcandy342) I would encourage you to do a google, hair forum, or yt search. I personally only use three products--burt bees shampoo, shea butter mix, and evcoconut oil.

  • i will try these.

  • So True!

  • i've been natural for almost a year, i love it, love your hair too

  • what kind of hairstyle is this? im thinking about getting it done this way:)

  • OMG! I was just thinking about this the other day. Never in my life would I every think that I would look at the calories on EVERYTHING I buy. I even pay more for eggs and meat just because they're from natural farms around my city. I decided to use black soap and shea butter and cocoa butter on my skin rather than neutrogena and other moisturizers. I even eat more fruit than i used to and work out A LOT. I deffinitely see what your saying and I agree with it 100 percent

  • What about natural hair leads to the organic thinking of the Black soul and the move away from consumerism to Black nationalism ?

  • i think its the small things that matter. we start questioning theories that we have been fed our whole lives. we start to get over inferiority complexes and we start mending sisterhoods.

  • I agree! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  • mm mm mm. i just love me a woman with a wild, exotic look.

  • i LOOOOOOOOOVE your hair, like seriously!!!

  • I been natural for a few years, and i never looked back since then. Being natural changed my whole life style. Beautiful video sista

  • That is so true!!!! After going natural I did begin to change my products to natural products and my skin products as well. Love the video :)

  • yeah, i did the same thing. soon after going natural, i went vegetarian, went organic, started shopping at trader joes and wild by nature, and i just transitioned to veganism and joined the gym. haha

  • Honey, I completely agree. My situation is reversed. I became Vegetarian, then I selected a Vegan intake, and Now after being Vegan I have made the Decision this March 2009 to go 100% Natural with my hair!

    POWERFUL INDEED.

    Peace & Veggies! ~MGS

  • I love how every other culture is soooo knowledgeable about black people. You are a waste of space and air. There are people dying for free speech and you use it to make an ass of yourself. Congratulations and have a blessed day.

  • this is so TRUE and i can totally relate to what ur saying. And you should do a makeup tutorial because i like how clean adn fresh ur make up is on this video

  • (BrownSkinMorena)Thanks,in "my everyday makeup video" I use the same eye makeup products that I have on in this video

  • Comment removed

  • Hopefully the attitude, disrespect and self hate will go along with the weaves. It will help your pocket book too!

  • true

  • 1TheChozenOne1 - and YOU just proved you have the same intelligence as a box of rocks.

  • That is so true. I never thought of organic stuff until I went natural. It started with the products, then the food. Now I'm becoming a vegetarian. That is so interesting.

  • well thee heart didnt come out rite; well anyways love you hair regardless =]

  • i ♥ your hair ! how did you get your hair like that ? =]

  • (skittlezbabii) I have a 5 part hair regimen video on how I accomplish this look

  • We go completely self aware. Now look at us. Some of the most powerful, healthy women on the planet. We get smarter going natural. The same properties in Draino are in relaxers. We had to wear gloves to apply it, yet we put it on our porous scalp close to our brain. Essentially feeding the blood vessels near our brain Draino. I became a natural because some guy hurt my heart...but after becoming a natural, I did get healthier and stronger over the years. And now I am one powerful sister.

  • wow, your right, i think we do get smarter and we see how beautiful we are and how negativity influences our families.

  • LOL, this is true. My shampoo and other haircare, skincare products and diet is organic.

  • so thats' your natural hair? wow that is beautiful

  • Very true. After I went natural, it was the skin care... then the food. Now I'm vegetarian. How funny that it kind of progresses like that for so many people. But I feel great; I've never been more confident or more healthy! I love your videos! :)

  • it all goes hand in hand... i started with natural hair and skin, moved over to food. added regularr excercie and found the 1 true God. If you will take 2 step towards him, he will take 2 toward you!

  • aaaw your hair is sooooooo pretty

  • So tru! And I love ur hair, sooooo pretty

  • I totally agree. I've even thought that going natural will make me go to the gym more and just run outside, because I dont have to worry about my relaxed hair getting all frizzy and sweated out when its in its natural state.

  • I agree with you 100% and great video!

  • sooooo true! I've been natural all my life, but back in the days i use to burn it with hot combs every 2 weeks. Now for the past 8yrs i'v learnt more about my hair, took more care of it and embraced it in its natural, coily state. I use all natural products on my hair, eat A LOT better, drink more water, and ova time as u gradually start 2 eliminate all the chemicals from ur food and products, the change in urself is immense! There is nothin better, than having an holistic approach to life!! : )

  • very true.thats why being natural is not a statement as many would see it to be but a lifestlye. A healthy lifestyle an awareness of living as healthy as possible inside and outside. Its a powerful secret that has been hidden by terrible myths and negative outlooks on being natural. but once experience once you get to that place of excepting you 100% noone can say nothing to you cos when you know who you are..people gets scared cos they dont!! true stories... Check out my vids people!:)

  • OMG..this is so true...I was just having this very discussion with my best friend the other day. I love it tho...but I have almost a year for my bc tho.

  • So true!!!

  • I'm in the process... I went natural, started using natural products in my hair, gravitating towards natural products for my skin. I think your right, for the majority of natural folks, going natural turns into a lifestyle change.

  • So true, so true. First it started with my hair, then my skin, to what i eat and then to my body, i started to excercise. So yeah, it's definitely a holistic approach on life and ones overall health-- naturals tend to view things differently. My family doesn't understand but i am really picky about what i put in my hair and my skin-- i dont even use lotion anymore, shea butter has multi uses-- I just feel like i'm doing something good for my body and i feel good doing it!!! ^_^

  • Yes, shea butter is the best :)

  • So funny and true. For me it started with my food, then my hair, then me wanting to excercise more. That's still a work in progress.

  • do u use natural tooth paste too?

  • (cuddlezz19) I have it, I use it off and on

  • I wonder if changing my lotions and soaps to be natural will help with my mild eczema...going to head to trader joes tomorrow....

  • I don't have eczema, but try black soap or castille soap and shea butter on your skin.

  • Very, very true. Great video.

  • For me everything started from the inside out. I began eating healthier after my cholesterol got to 200, I changed my food lifestyle and exercised more. I began recycling and became a better steward of God's earth. My hair was over relaxers and I went natural, and started using homemade or natural products. I love my eggs whites, turkey burgers, and salmon, so being a vegan or vegetarian is not for me. But seeing my great granny still living @ 100yrs old, has inspired me to take care of myself.

  • Wow, that is amazing!! I pray God blesses me to live to see 100 years old! That is truly a blessing!

  • I LOVE your videos, first of all. They helped me decide on the big chop (It's been a month and seven days since then and I'm LOVING MY HAIR).

You're absolutely right. Since I got the big chop, I've changed a great deal from the way I look at myself to the foods I eat. I always treated myself well, but now that I'm natural I'm treating myself A LOT better. =)

  • yeah, I definitely see a relation. I am on my way to being a vegetarin, and I am so excited! we really should try to make those transitions more powerful in our community.

  • Your observations are veryu treu. After I went natural I became a vegetarian and now I am on my way to becoming a vegan. There is definitely a power in natural hair.

  • you are so right, after I decided to wear my hair natural, my mindset totally changed

  • Your hair and your skin looks so beautiful in this vid!

  • Very true and you start to make your own lotions, poos, etc. I'm slowly reducing the amt of meat I eat and starting my own veggie garden. I dont remember the last time I bought lotion..I make my own lol

  • this is so true....I've just started using all natural skin care products. Natural soaps and lotions...its all because of me going natural with my hair two years ago! It definitely has changed me..for the better!
