  • @DJRustyBridges Gran Torino was a great film. You probably just didn't understand it

  • bend the rules to make the country safe........liberals.....listen.

  • j.edgar has some respect.....he did great work and didnt have to cry or bring out all that gay shit. this movie is gay propaganda.....

  • an amazing performance by Leo and Armie Hammer, just.... extraordinary movie. Comming from a 16 year old boy.

  • @DeadlyVenom543 No one cares how old you are..

  • @itsTimmyH Be nice. All he did was state his age to say that even a teenage boy can appreciate the quality of this movie.. You were bothered enough by him thinking people would care to be mean and put him down. Who cares if no one cares... Oh that's right, you do.

  • @1RelentlessBoi Okay, sorry Relentless Boi. It won't happen again. You're a sickcunt.

  • ever since the abortion that was Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood's movies have been ruined for me

  • thumbs up if you've got piratebay on the other tab!

  • As a black man, Fuck edgar, at least we built and took over your country.

  • I wonder if they'll show J Edgar poo-pumping Clyde Tolson.

  • Watched this movie leo gives a compelling performance so do the rest of the cast if he doesnt win a oscar for this he'll never win one

  • A movie with gay people.. about gay people...

  • J Edgar: great blog review at:

    rosscareyfilmreviews.blogspot.com

  • it was one of the worst movies i ve seen lately.. nothing else.. only Di Caprio.. and also be angry with Eastwood..

  • the trailer looks amazing! but i was so disappointed with the film :(

  • leo done a good job yes ,but j edgar was a racist bastard, who hated anything black, also what amazed me about this man,was he himself was BLACK, who passed himself for white, a lot of mixed race people did that back in the day,his mother had an affair with a mixed race man,and he was the end product ,her husband raised him has his own ,that racist knew he was black and was ashamed of it ,its a pity that wasnt portrayed anyway, check out his family on you tube

  • Good movie and great actor (Leo) but this movie reminds me a lot of Citizen Kane.. its not that original.. But there is not doubt on my mind that Leo can get the Oscar

  • why is there a apple logo at bottom right..?

  • The trailer gave me goosebumps.....Really, Leo is in his peak position as an actor!

  • By far the best actor of his generation, soooo sooo talented. Loved him ever since "Gilbert Grape"!

  • fuck you mason scum

  • I think leo should win an oscar or golden globe for this performance!!

  • Il y a la musique d' "Intouchables" : Fly.

Dommage qu'aux USA, ils veulent faire un remake de ce film... Celui-ci a l'air génial.

  • is it just me or there is an apple symbol at the bottom right corner of the screen?

  • movie reminds me of whats happening today with NDAA and the note allowing president obama to assassinate anyone he wants.

  • best actor alive today

  • Leo has risen the bar so high so everyone else now looks so small!

  • this man deserves a effin oscar!!

  • Comment removed

  • And the Oscar goes to..Leonardo Dicaprio!

  • just saw the movie tonight. this was a well payed for movie. it was not the best or the worst movie. but it was still good.

  • Freaking Clint Eastwood and Leo, Love the two of them sooo much!!!

  • This movie was pretty good, fuck the people who hate this just because they're insensitive homophobes who reject anything that shows homosexuality.

  • @AssassinRecruit how does it show homosexuality

  • @patriotsmakemesick There are some parts where Edgar shows affection to his assistant, who is a male. It isn't even that bad, there aren't any sex scenes involving the two and it's just small things like holding hands and crap.

  • Movie is out! Piratebay here I come :D

  • Clint Eastwood is like 82. Has there been a director whose ever done anything like the roll he's on the last 10 years with Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Flags of Our Fathers, Letters From Iwo Jima, Changeling, Gran Torino, Invictus and last year's overlooked Hereafter? Simply amazing output in the twilight of his career.

  • went to watch this movie, didn't like the gay element in it and the make up was not really impressive but the story was good

  • @moviebuff383 this is not a gay agenda movie. J. Edgar was gay it's part of the story.

  • Comment removed

  • @moviebuff383 he's simply making it clear that J.Edgar Hoover was a homosexual.

  • Exclusive interview with Leonardo DiCaprio!

Tonight 11/11/11 On the French Connection Radio show.

Check out AdrenalineRadio for more information 6-7 PM PST. Leo is talking about the role of J Edgar and the difficulties in portraying a character over 5 decades.

We are also talking about what its like to work with the great Clint Eastwood.

  • Yes, keep handing out Oscars to this over-the-top melodramatic crap. The guy plays his parts the same way in every movie he's been in, save for "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" and in every one, he is horrible. Another American historical figure for DiCaprio to try out with all the acting skill of a 3rd grader.

Ladies, you might somehow find him sexy, but I'm positive it has nothing to do with any kind of talent.

  • @Heretic451

I'd love to see you try and act. Your just jealous of Leo's success and talent.

  • @Heretic451 get lost u fuckng troll Name one bad movie he is in?? melodramatic crap?

  • @AmericanWarfare Yes, that's right. You don't agree with me, so start calling me names. That's the mark of true intelligence. I gave you my opinion. Do you have an actual opinion, or will you just sit there and rant?

To answer your question, every movie I've seen him in (the number of which has dwindled over the years) has become less of a good thing simply because I don't believe this "actor" has any talent worth mentioning. The exception is "What's Eating Gilbert Grape"-he was great in that.

  • @Heretic451 Someone shat their bed....

  • i LOVE Leonardo DiCaprio!!!!!!! so sexy

  • @saralee9710 ..What about Ryan Gosling? He is hott and sexy too. I dont know,I like Ryan a little more better but I like them both.

  • ahhhhhhh im totally watching this movie<3 i love leonardo!! hes one sexxayy guy ;]

  • jesus what a shitty accent.

  • who cares If he was gay.. How does that change a person?

  • J Edgar Hoover was an egotistical, homophobic, racist who was allowed to run the FBI for far too many years. It was only after he died that the world found out that he himself was a homosexual. How fitting that a man in such a powerful position as he, was a hardcore homophobe. I can't wait to see this movie and I hope that it's a true and honest depiction of this scumbag!

  • @musclen2phat they haven't proven yet he is a homosexual. Some people think his partner may have been the man in this preview who he appointed second in command, basically.

  • @musclen2phat

    Rage more...

  • I am looking foward to seeing this.

  • Leo shall NEVER look like this.

    I forbid it.

  • The reality is that J Edgar Hoover was a Gay Man.

It's outrageous that still in Homophobic America...many on the political Right deny this Fact.

This should be a fantastic Film...a Must. Go Leo !!!

  • another fabulous GAY MAN ....J Edgar Hoover

    GAY MEN RULE THE WORLD

  • I was watching The Walking Dead last week, when this came on. I saw Clint Eastwood and I was like 0.0. Then I saw Leonardo DiCaprio and I was like O.O and then I pooped my pants.

  • When Leo gets his Oscar he is going to give it back and say "Fuck you. I don't need a peace of tin to tell me how fucking awesome I am."

  • @tonycns LOL. Do you think Leo is going to win an Oscar for this role? I was hoping Ryan Gosling would win for The Ides of March..that movie was good too. I havent seen this one yet but I will soon (hope its good). :)

  • @tonycns Or he's going to say "Yes! This is the sole reason why I did this movie!"

  • looks awesome!

  • i like ffguwlefgwilfuegliwugfi;fgu;ia this moppppppppppppppppppp vie

  • Leonardo DiCaprio, and Jeffrey Donovan,....okay i'm excited. Clint Eastwood has some stunning movies, excited for this one!!

  • I'm really hoping that this is one of Eastwood's great movies like Mystic River and Million Dollar Baby, Can't wait to find out!

  • OMG this looks amazing =)

  • this could be the year leo gets an oscar

  • this guy was so f***ing weird and he was the most powerful guy in dc and maybe the country and then someone took a photo of him havin anal sex with some guy

    career over

  • The Origins of the FBI

  • This looks awful and queer!! Ill wait for Django!!!!

  • @cuntingham54 Amen to that.

  • And the Oscar goes to???? Get it Leo!!!!

  • Armie Hammer will get a nomination for this, I'm calling it.

  • Oscar...unless of course Lincoln comes out in the same period. Daniel Day Lewis dominates the Oscars.

  • @nmbodnar - apparently, you aren't aware that the Lincoln film hasn't even finished filming, and this one is being released in a few weeks. Pretty silly comment.

  • Leonardo demostro desde Catch me if you can, que el puede interpretar cualquier personaje que le pongan enfrente...I can't wait to see this movie.

  • @TheSammie2508 la pelicula te va a encantar :D

  • I think I smell OSCAR for DiCaprio.

  • can some one tell me the source of the background music which has the violin in its major part?

  • music sounds like james newton howard's score for the village. i can just tell this is going to be epic xD

  • J. Edna

  • this year's oscar belongs to gary oldman

  • excited for this movie in every way except for the fact that dustin lance black wrote it. that fuck will prolly fill it full of j edgars possible homosexuality when thats only a fraction of the truly interesting character that is j edgar hoover

  • @callme861 i read somewhere that they didnt go too far into that side of his life.

  • @foreverWHOfan i sure hope not. this movie has potential

  • johnny depp 2:02

  • And despite all the evidence that he was Gay, there are those who still cannot come to terms with it in in America.

    And this is 2011.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio, Where amazing happens.

  • @MacaroniEars God bless you

  • @MacaroniEars and Clint Eastwood

  • Leonardo DeCaprio. Naomi Watts. Judy Dench. Jeffrey Donovan. Dustin Lance Black. Clint Eastwood. Hell, this is all you need to make an excellent film.

  • this will surely win the bald statuette for DiCaprio at the moment biopics are the most poulare for awards consideration last three years Colin Firth, Jeff Bridges, Sean Penn, Christian Bale, Christoph Waltz all these guys either played real people or characters that have been based off real people

  • @blablaman233 I have to agree with you.

  • huh. well he's a bit of a controversial man. i hope they're not going to make him seem like a saint

  • i thought he deserved an oscar for blood diamond and the departed hopefully he gets one for this one of my favourite actors ever and hes only getting started

  • was that the mask of Johnny Depp's public enemies at 2:09

  • @jatav7 he was a real guy- john dillinger?

  • Im not sure about this. DiCaprio looking like an old man, but acting like a young? His voice is way to innocent. He doesn't sound like a man who's gone through the stuff the real J Edgar went through. I still think he will do a good job, but it just feels strange.

  • Leonardo Dicaprio is ridiculously good actor, just from his accent at at the start u can tell he will act good in this movie haha and its directed by one of my fave directors clint eastwood, this is oscar worthy already

  • Leonardo Dicaprio is ridiculously good actor, just from his accent at at the start u can tell he will act good in this movie haha and its directed by one of my fave directors clint eastwood, this is oscar worthy already

  • Oscar bait crap.

  • Oscar time ! please please please! He deserves it!

  • THIS is Leo's Oscar win, no bullshit about it. Moneyball !? Please, send in the clowns, it is time for Brangelina to go home and stay there.

  • DiCaprio is almost photorealistic as 40-year old Hoover, he's definitely locked up for Oscar nomination just like PSH as Capote or Bale for Ecklund.

But Leo has too much biopics in his career, first Hughes, now Hoover, and on iMDB list has announced project about Jordan Belfort and even Teddy Roosevelt.

  • If DiCaprio doesn't win an Oscar i'm raping all my chickens.

  • @MrSoprano92 Amen

  • Awesome

  • Mr D. Caprio, Mr D. Caprio your Oscar is at the front desk.

  • he deffo needs an oscar this time, he sounds a lot like j edgar and will of course perform miraculously

  • at 2:10 thats what jack dawson would have looked like if he lived

  • YES IT RELEASED ON MY BIRTHDAY BEST B-DAY RESENT FRO YUOUBE EVER!!!!!! WITH LEO

  • @brain374 No, not quite.

  • i use to hate leo back in the day thats all i heard about from my sister since i saw the beach and watched him progress as an actor i love the guy. very underrated

  • Oscar calling for Caprio! Amazing trailer!

  • When dealing with a character as complex and long-running as J. Edgar Hoover you need more than 120 minutes. Eastwood should have made the movie in parts--like Soderbergh's "Che". I agree with halfassstudios. I also don't buy DiCaprio for the title role. He's such a passionate actor and Hoover was notorious for his pedantism and rigidness.

Sadly, I predict another box office failure for Dirty Harry. He's had a bad year to otherwise exceptional track record.

  • I can already see the nominations: Clint Eastwood for Best Director, Best Actor for Leonardo Dicaprio, Best Supporting Actor for Arnie Hammer, Best Original Screenplay, Best Make-up (I could see the Make-up on Leo's face was perfect, and who knows what else nominations. But that's just what I think.

  • uuummmmm i don't really buy DiCaprio as this type of character but i'm excited to see how he pulls it off.

  • Possible 2011 Best Actor Nominees:

Leonardo DiCaprio in J. Edgar (2011)

Mel Gibson in The Beaver (2011)

    Ryan Gosling in Drive (2011)

    Brad Pitt in Moneyball (2011)

Michael Shannon in Take Shelter (2011)

  • @cinemapsycho91 Add Gary Oldman for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. He was incredible in it, so hopefully he'll FINALLY get a nomination for it.

  • @mastermetal777 POSSIBLY!!! We'll see.

  • @cinemapsycho91 Brad Pitt, Moneyball...seriously!? Goddddd let's pray it isn't so...I don't think he deserves to be nominated for that film...but of course he's Brad Pitt, let's nominate him for every movie he's in, it's becoming unnecessary overkill. As far as Ryan Gosling for Drive, I just can't picture why that would be taken as a role that should be nominated, seems like a good time at the theater...either way, I bet your predictions will be nearly if not spot on.

  • @missym877 Well, you know, Brad Pitt doesn't get the credit he deserves for his acting ability. He is more versatile than people think he is. There are a lot of people out there who see him as just a sex symbol, which is totally not true. But overall, it is your opinion. With that being said, I am in no position, or most of all, mood, to argue your opinion. So, go ahead with your bad self.

  • @cinemapsycho91 haha look I'm not saying Brad Pitt is a bad actor, I just don't believe for his particular role in Moneyball, it deserves a nomination. Sure he is definitely underrated in some aspects but he does not need to be nominated for every role, it's my personal opinion that the Academy no longer takes great care in who they nominate, it seems like everyone & anyone can get nominated & win...I think George Clooney is a good actor, but does he need to be nominated for every role he's in

  • @cinemapsycho91 but like you said this is my opinion, and you have yours.

  • @missym877 Exactly...

  • @cinemapsycho91 I doubt Mel Gibson will be nominated, because of his personal life. Besides, they've never nominated him for acting before, so why start now?

  • @DAmicoJohnny Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  • I don't feel like they're trying to show him in a positive light I think they're trying to show how he did all of these terrible things in a way to hide his troubled personal life. And to show the other side of him all history books tell us is of his evil deeds and I'll admit I don't like the guy but I think this movie is a good idea to show what he hid from everyone.

  • They are making a movie about a racist cross dressing fiend who used illegal subterfuge to wipe out black leaders. Sign me up...to spit in the faces of Clint Eastwood and the fuckers that are trying to show this racist fucker in a positive light.

  • @ikonoklastification you didn' even watch the film yet. Clint Eastwood usually leaves the decision to the viewer, he doesn't try to push interpretation to any particular direction.

  • @ikonoklastification Ironically, Hoover was considered a mixed-race child and lived in southeast DC.

  • How anyone could make a movie casting this detestable human being in a positive light is beyond me.

  • Hollywood has a clear conflict of interest and has NO place making a movie about a man they neither understand or respect.

  • Anything with Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing. He actually takes time to pick out great film ideas!

  • Anyone else think old Leo in this looks like Phillip Seymour-Hoffman?

  • @hames3rd I was just going thru the comments to see if anyone noticed the same thing! :D

  • The way of the future, The way of the future, the way of the future, the way of the future.

  • get your oscar baby, finally take it from those bastards!

  • Looks like Leo will finally win an oscar

  • They is not one shred of historical evidence to prove that J Edgar Hoover was homosexual but the movie makers just had to go with it. It's nothing but a rumor started by his many detractors decades ago and it persists today.

  • Leo better win this oscar, he already got cheated from the aviator
