  • I'm just as passionate about AVATAR as you guys are. Great videos.

  • this is just a couple of nerds in a basement! LOL

  • Not many basements in Texas lol, and nerds...guilty as charged. Nerds sign your paycheck-

  • hey guys gotta say you were totally right the movie is better than amazing. its unreal. Cameron is a genius.

  • Avatar Becomes Highest Grossing Film Of All Time

  • I am getting sick of all these people spamming my videos trying to promote their illegal online streaming sites

  • Don't watch a download! get the full IMAX experience. don't be cheap with Cameron.

  • You guys are great. I didn't think it was possible for me to get even more excited about Avatar but I did.

  • nice work guy's, no-one i know seems to be getting excited about this film, especially after the trailer (and what i think personally is a poor marketing campaign), but i've looked forward to it for years. A film to top that WOW factor after seeing films like jurassic park and Independence day in cinemas for the 1st time...

  • Yep the Wow factor of this film goes well beyond Jurassic Park, Matrix, SWS, LOTR Golem and the envoirments are alive.. Just wait scamster... It was the greatest experience of my movie viewing life... Thank god James.

  • If theres one thing i can say, its that Avatar CANNOT suck, no matter how much you may end up disliking it, It will always be credited for how original and revolutionary it is. I hope this film rights the wrongs that recent blockbusters have brought upon filmmaking.

  • Yes it can do direct 3D capture with live action. 40% of the movie was filmed that way. The rest is CG or CG/live action.

  • i'm gonna probably watch avatar more than 10 times.

  • Me too buddy

  • Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but I am really excited to see Avatar and my friend who went to see the 16 minute footage is making me worried. He said it was horrible and blah blah blah (he had a bad bad bad day) and said that everything had a horrible red and blueish tint because it was 3d however others say that is completely untrue. True? False? Kinda?

  • Your friend is lieing to you. 99 percent of the audience was blown away.

  • maybe he didnt put the 3D glasses on??

  • I honestly have no clue. Anyways, from what I heard, I shouldn't be disappointed when I see it so I'm not gonna dwell on it :)

  • false

  • Its guaranteed Avatar can't beat Titanic in terms of revenue......but i hope it earns as much as Dark knight or Lord of rings Pirates or Harry Potter did.....

  • Not necessarily. You have to remember that 3d movies bring more money because the ticket cost more and this movie lends itself to multiple viewings.

  • Point 2 b noted......

  • According to your review, WETA again has outdone themselves.

  • ILM was involved as well

  • Good review guys. I first heard of Avatar in the '90s... Can't wait to take the trip!

  • It suckd that there wasn't an I-Max in Wisconsin...

  • I think that if we had more bigger 3-D glasses that covers most of the face, the effects would be even better. Just my opinion.

  • Just some F.Y.I., James Cameron isn't and hasn't just been a Director only guy. He has actually helped and created special effects development through his whole movie making career. You should look back to see what he's helped develop in special effects history.

  • He co-created the fusion camera which is what we are seeing already in theaters with any live action 3d shots

  • I totally agree with you guys about the review of the 16-minute screening review of AVATAR. The only thing I don't agree is your reaction to the 2-minute trailer. The trailer is SOOOOOOO Disappointing!!! Totally different movies between the trailer and the AVATAR DAY screening. Although like you stated earlier, maybe it's a marketing scheme to have a so-so "trailer" come out and downplay the hype while the "screening" is confirming the hype. I've been promoting this movie for about 5 years

  • I'm jealous you guys got to see it. We only have to IMAX in the Hampton Roads Area. One at our Marine Science Museum which shows movies on Dolphins and the other at the Air and Space Museum.

  • I love how into Avatar you guys are. You're just like me!

  • I can't stop talking about that 16 mins! I think this will stay in the theater for a year or more!

  • You said scenes from trailer and footage were just from first half of movie. Doesn't the trailer have a sort of climatic aerial battle or is that just a "normal" Na'Vi trap?

  • In the intro James Cameron said everything you are about to see is from the first half, and parts of the trailer were included in the end. It definitely doesnt look like the "mother of all battles" that he says it will be which makes me think it's just probably a first attack or something

  • It was stunning. The digital effects were transparent!

  • JamesCameron'sAvatard? The first positive use of the term avatard. Great video, fellow avatard.

  • Great review guys. I too saw the 16 minutes and was blown away. Most incredible movie footage I've ever seen. Can't wait until December!

  • Hey, I enjoyed your video and sent you a PM, check it out.

  • For the most impressive scene is the water fall scene. When Jake is inching behind a water fall and it really just look like a guy wearing blue make-up with the water refracting off him.. It looks dam real and u really forget the entire scene is CGI.

  • I had the same reactions...this movie will be mind-blowing! Nice to put a face to a name. My marketsaw name is Hesjustagrunt. Nice reminder about the brightness being necessary for 3D. I admired his courage for that. I wonder if they will use slightly darker color grades and contrast in post for the 2D version?

  • I want to hear did anyone find Avatar footage blurry while watching it in IMAX?

I also want to know did someone experience blurriness is some other theater and what technology was used there for 3d?

  • I watched the 16 minutes in IMAX. I did actually find it blurry during the parts that had lots of movement. I read though that there is a reason for that. The way the movie is filmed makes it imitate natural eyesight. If you quickly turn your head to the left or right, things get blurry until your head stops turning. This is what the camera is imitating. I will be seeing this movie in 3D, but I'll be seeing it in 2D as well to avoid that.

  • Thanks for comment. Cameron wanted to do this movie in 48 fps but did not get budget for that. If this goes well sequel will be done in 48 fps to avoid problems.

I was worried that all shots are blurry. Guys at Dreamworks had screening list night and where unimpressed buy look of movie id 3d.

  • Please ..do not mind my spelling. :)

  • They are using camera shake with 3D for the first time. Some parts like that are harder to discern in 3D. I did not find it very blurry though

  • Good review.

ps:Friend that works on movie told me today that they saved best for actual movie.

  • excellent review u guys remind me of me i have such high expectations for this movie i dont wana be let down and doubt i will be come dec 19th.

  • You won't, I'm a tough critic and scrutinize movies a lot. This is something special.

  • D9, please don't bring that up! I don't care about cockroach prawns! I need Emotional COntent and that's what Cameron will deliver!

  • Like lightwave said, I used D9 to wipe my butt after Avatar made me crap my pants

  • Better than District 9, they are animating believable humanoids rather than cockroach aliens
