By "fat dude" I can only assume that you mean me, in which case it is quite easy to "smack" me. I give my full name in the video. Our website has my email address and phone number. Even my address is of public record. -- So... if you truly are a man of your word, by all means smack away.
you are not as funny as you think you are. In fact i think it is sort of childish to try to make fun of someone because they don't check their youtube inbox as often as yourself. it is pathetic that you play a tough guy over the internet too. i myself don't take youtube very seriously fore it is a site i use for recreational purposes and to see a lowlife who takes his "blogging" way to seriously like you trying to ruin it for me is really amusing.
Obviously you don't take YouTube seriously... which is why you are writing another comment showing how serious you are about YouTube.
Bottom line, if you don't like our videos, go away... it's as simple as that... but you won't be able to, because you are so un-serious about YouTube.
Yeah... prices are coming down quite nicely. Super Talent just released a line of value SSDs that are getting close to rotating media... 128GB for under $300
True... but then again, ALL drives are guaranteed to fail. There is no single technology that will be the silver bullet for data security, but I for one am glad that they are finally making affordable SSD drives in usable capacities. (Though affordable is a highly subjective term!)
BaldursGate -- I'm sure that SSDs will eventually make it into game consoles, but not for a while. Since game consoles don't typically use their hard drives for anything really performance intensive, nor do they need the reliability of a solid state device, a manufacturer would be hard pressed to justify the extra cost.
Would It be a good idea to get an 8gb drive for my OS and a normal HD for music, games, and stuff. Would that help my system startup faster. I'm sure it would but would it make my games run faster being that the games have a normal HD to themselves?
No. For a start, it's not worth it to save 30 seconds on startup. Secondly, what does it matter that your games have a hard drive to themseves? Unless you're going to be copying to the HDD at the same time the game is running. If you're going to get a SSD, get a large one but I'd hold your horses for now and buy a Raptor. You'll be well gutted in 8-16 months when the demand increases and prices plummet.
I see this as the beginning of the next generation. And price? Well, if you want the newest technology, expect to pay for it. I remember paying $500 for a 200 MEGAbyte HDD, and considering it a bargain. Now I get 500 GIGS for 1/4 that price. Give it time...
They don't sell them anywhere... at least not alone... at least not up front. But I have found a few places on the grey market where you can buy these babies.
1,000? as supposed to what if chosen Raptor? Or is 1,000 the price diff?

@Xentradi97 ???
gadgettts 1 year ago
@gadgettts How much cheaper is Raptor HDD compared to Samsung SSD?
Xentradi97 1 year ago
awesome - if it cost a $1000 then, or a little (/lot, knowing dell) less, it costs £150 now.

this technology was invented in the mid 80's but it's only now just starting to become affordable to be mass produced cheaply.

It's amazing how quickly science is able to create technologies. It's just sad that our human desire to keep everything the same holds all that back.

kaczka81,
By "just" I guess you are refering to my comment TWO MONTHS AGO. By "treated me" I am thinking that you mean "you made me look like a tool."
See you in a few months.

Yeah, at least they're not $5,000 anymore. And the shaking laptops were very funny!

Hey Fr.,
Why so small? I need at least 500GB. Is this like a Flash Memory? How much?
bobballecer 4 years ago
It is flash memory... but REALLY fast flash memory. It would be on the order of 2x - 4x faster than the fastest 10,000rpm 16MB cache HDD.
gadgettts 4 years ago
$1000/64GB = $15.6 per gig, so a 500GB SSD drive would be $7,800! O_O

sidekick3iskool 4 years ago
Wow... you can afford 3?
That puts you in one of three categories:
1. IT geek whose company is willing to shell out money for their best geek.
2. Weathy uberGeek who can pay for his toys.
3. SuperMegaUberGeek who is willing to eat Ramen and walk to work for two months in the name of kick-butt performance and bragging rights.
In ALL cases... you're awesome! :)
