@LegahAsla no it will not break the keyboard, they must have thought about it, a lot of research goes into making such stuff, so rest assured. and yeah it has touch keyboard too. in tablet mode.
So far, this is the best win8 tablet for me considering a keyboard, which will always be there when you need it but can stay out of the way when you don't.
Good resolution, can switch back to desktop ui for real work, then come back to metro ui for tablet functionality. Can't see much to complain about with this laptop except for the fact that if I want a decently sized 256gb SSD I'll probably have to pay tonnes of money for it. If they can wrap all this together with 256gb of SSD at $1499 or less I'm sold. Otherwise I'd have to buy an external HDD which I don't like the idea of.
i see now why windows 8 build in metro UI with switch back to desktop..This windows OS gives laptops manufacturer an idea for future hybrid laptop and this is it.
The design is cool, I hope that there will be more projects with tablet_laptops. Cause the conseps is realy cool. Only we could do is wait for it. Time will show
@tosma007 they won't make one, trust me lol they making too much money with diff devices. I just want a thin, durable, and light ultra book with win 7 for a good price
I prefer the form factor of the Asus Transformer. It's just simply more durable and make sense. The mode where the touchscreen is facing the user while the keyboard base acts as the stand is probably the 2nd best and most useful mode. I hope the next transformer can do this mode too but not exactly like how Yoga does where the keys are prone to damage
Very great idea, but as Costerguy1234556 said: the keyboard stays exposed when it's in tablet mode. Fix that, improve the overall design and you have my money. Now I am waiting for samsung or other brands to fill in. Great concept.
Hey people listen up! If you're looking at Yoga as your iPad replacement please don't buy it. It's too heavy to be handheld, and you'll most likely mash the keypad.
But for me, this is WHAT I'VE BEEN IMAGINING what would help me best in my work as a insurance salesman. I've got present stuff to my clients in a more interactive, visually engaging way... but at the end of the day, I have to send e-mails to my prospects, clients, and leaders. Much of my work will need a keyboard. This fits the bill
The keys are exposed somewhat, but the keys are kind of "engraved (maybe that's the word I'm looking for)" inside so there's no keys being pressed when it's in tablet mode. I'm still sold. I was considering getting the Series 7 slate for my notetaking but that's a small screen and it $1,300 for just 98 gbs of free space. Granted it's SSD but utility wins in this situation
My concern is the durability of the hinges. Will it eventually lose its stiff ness so that it can't retain its angle positions? I'm sold though and believe this willl be tje future of tablet/laptop.
@convotutor I don't know about the durability of the hinges, but I do know that they've said the hinges were a big focus for them and it is actually patent pending.
Ten points of input?! Oh wait, the iPad 1 also has 10-point multitouch, so not much new there. Lenovo just can't let this hybrid thing die. Nice, but not spectacular.
@Costerguy1234556 It doesn't function once the screen goes back 180 degrees. Also, there is an extra layer on each size of the touch pad that prevents the keyboard from touching a surface. However, I do agree that a cover for the keyboard would be great. For $1200, it's the least they could do. :)
@Mojave706 Your right. I actually look forward in buying this tablet :)

The keys are still on the open side when you switch to tablet mode? Odd, why wouldn't they let you flip it around so you just get a smooth back?
tipoomaster 4 weeks ago
@tipoomaster Coz i think doing so would would require a single hinge, which are already around since years ago and they look flimsy.

Does it have a pen digitiser i.e. Wacom or the like?
I'm a student and I want a Windows 8 tablet/hybrid for OneNote. Inking is a major part of that. If it doesn't do pen input, I'm not really interested.

The keyborad is off in tablet mode, they say.
The keyboard side is in a leather touch, so it won't scratch too easily.

@ChineseSlaves Well, I can shure you that Lenovo have one of the best Quality Laptops on todays market.
I've hade all kind of Laptops in my live. IBM/lenovo are the best.
e.g. when you accidentally drop it from 1.5 meter (4-5Feet) it wont even break a lenovo Laptop.
A friend of mine droped his from his backpack while running 10Mph. It only got a few scratches!
grafli 1 month ago
@grafli Thinkpad's okay coz it's bought from IBM whereas these low-quality Ideapad products really suck!
