  • My dad was stationed near the border in So. Armagh in the late 60's when all hell broke loose. Officers were being killed and the border was especially bad. My mother talked him into leaving cause she didn't want to see him killed. I think it tore him apart that he didn't get to serve his country as he had wanted, but my mother's persuasion probably saved his life. These are very brave men. I will be forever grateful for the sacrifices they have made.

  • God bless. Their efforts weren't in vein. Proud to be from a country with such great heroes standing for it's people <3

  • So proud to have my Father as a Current PSNI officer 28 year serving, as he joined the RUC in 7 Nov. 1983, and my uncle 30 year serving RUC officer joined 8th june 1971. and Mother atm who is a PSNI officer. God bless the RUC and the amazing Police officers in it, no matter what critisism you face you were the best Police force in the World.

  • 1.48 secs , probably the only force in the world that would get dressed for a riot wearing shirt and tie !

    But still the best .

  • Nothing fills me with more pride than to see the GC beside the RUC badge, and the men standing with their heads held high while stepping to the line. Many tried to break them, but united they stood, with honor and pride, they faced death smiled back for the freedom and well being of thousands. Honor the Fallen, but Remember the sacrifice made by every man and woman who had the courage to don the HARP AND CROWN

  • While the death of Ronan Kerr is both sad & tragic, let's reflect on the men & women of the RUC who laided down their lives to try & make Northern Ireland a better place. Let us not forget the catholic officers who served in the RUC against a far greater risk when the IRA was at the height of it's murderous campaign & stopped many decent law abiding catholics from joining & serving the community. It is sad when the death of Constable Kerr has been used as nothing more than a PR exercise by many.

  • @Karateka73

The RUC were all legends, Every man & woman, History. They served thier country well & with honour that some people do not understand!

  • The Bravest and the finest officers in the World

  • God Bless all brave officers who died serving their community

  • God bless all those murdered for the crime of serving their community

  • THANK U FOR POSTING THIS, IS A GREAT TRIBUTE TO A GREAT FORCE, THE ROYAL ULSTER CONSTABULARY WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

  • I miss the RUC the PSNI are pretty useless like the british police have become just make criminal terrorists sandwiches and pat them on the head :(

  • AS FAR AS I AM AWARE THE GEORGE CROSS HAS ONLY TWICE TO LARGE GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS, MALTA FOR THEIR BRAVERY IN DEFENDING THE ISLAND IN W.W.2 AND SECONDLY THE RUC FOR THEIR TRUE DEVOTION TO DUTY IN THE MOST DANGEROUS OF TIMES. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS OVER THE YEARS HISTORY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT THE R.U.C WERE IN A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN AS A POLICE FORCE.

  • GOD BLESS THEM FOR THEY WERE THE FINE LINE BETWEEN THE GOOD AND EVIL THAT HAS PLAGUED NORTHERN IRELAND SINCE 1969. TO LEAVE YOUR HOME KNOWING THAT BY THE TIME YOU START YOUR CAR YOU MAY BE BLOWN TO BITS TAKES SOME COURAGE. SOMETHING THAT THE COWARDS WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND. AS AN EX-SERVICEMAN I HAVE NOTHING BUT ADMIRATION FOR THESE HONOURABLE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE GIVEN UP SO MUCH TO PROTECT THE DECENT PEOPLE OF NORTHERN IRELAND OVER THE YEARS.

  • @BLACKSHACK16 Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

  • @BLACKSHACK16 WELL SAID.......BRING THEM BACK I SAY

  • @BLACKSHACK16 WELL SAID, BRING THEM BACK TO SORT THE DISSIDENTS I SAY

  • @BLACKSHACK16

Top Comment couldnt agree with you more, fine police officers

  • The men and women of the RUC are a true one of a kind, they leave their homes on a daily basis with the thought in their head that it might be the last time they close the door, they are the only police force in the world that is loyal to Queen and country and willing to give their lives so that others may walk the street in peace. GOD BLESS THE TRUE HEROES OF THE CROWN.

  • May their ultimate sacrifice never be forgotten. God bless them all;lads and lasses.

  • So sad that we only have memories like this to remind us what a brave bunch of lads and lasses we had .I hope it wasn't in vain. Our Government has betrayed the bravery and dedication of this small band of brothers.. God bless all you who served.

An ex-pat who still has his beliefs.

  • The only ture Police Force of Northern Ireland

  • as an ex udr i think its great

  • best police force in the world

  • NO SURRENDER TO THE IRA!!!

  • God bleess the RUC.

Hero's of Britains real war on terror.

Fuck the Saville report, fuck the BBC, fuck my own British government who've maligned the only people in the UK who've actually fought and defended our country since WW2.

  • Thank you so much for this video. Am proud to say I served in the ranks of the RUC. We held the line - Bloodied but unbowed. Rest in Peace my brothers and sisters.

  • my father was a RUC man im proud to say, i totaly resect them ruc men.. proper men . not like psni boys. bring back the RUC

  • This is really well made video and a compelling piece of music. I feel bad for the RUC, many people in the communities they were trying to protect must have hated them. Sure they use tear gas, riot shields and break down doors etc but that was probably because people were trying to kill them. I bet your average RUC man/woman would have preferred to keep order without force. By the way before I get any backlash, I view the Troubles with a very non biased point of view despite being "a Brit".

  • Is this piece an original or taken from last of the Mohicans? Either way its brilliant.

  • Music performed by the Scots Guards Pipes & Drums Band "The Gale" from the film "The Last of the Mohicans"

  • Long Live the RUC from an american who believes in fighting against tyranny and terror.

  • Many thanks for your comment.

  • God bless them all, from the US.

  • Great video, by far the most professional and admirable police force that ever stood.

  • Many thanks for your comment from the United States. The RUC had the hardest task of all police forces in the world - upholding peace and order in a divided society and against daily attacks.

  • amazing video

  • God bless the men and women of the RUC. From a Yorkshireman, ex squaddie, we came and went, you were there day in day out. Lest we forget Britains real war on terror.

  • 1st class 5 stars m8

  • Thank s to those who allow me to be myself and walk in the street today..; I honestly believe that every mile in my country has been paid for by those killed by terrorists seeking to force me from my home through ethnic cleansing..

I would support the same being done to nationalists for a similar period of time..

  • RIP to all those who died protecting both communities, Evil Will Never Suceed.

  • God bless them all. A son, a father, a daughter, a wife, a brother, a mother, a cousin, a neice, a uncle, a aunt has given their life so that others may live in peace. The police have come under hard times in the past, for what?, for doing their job!

  • Keep strong spirts, we can overcome anything, we have done before !!!!

  • if it wasnt for these great men the scum of the IRA would have won the "war" in northern ireland! god knows what it would be like if it wasnt for these men.

    KEEP OUR COUNTRY

  • 2.22 everytime I see this in the museam its quite emotional. Reminds me to how close I was to losing my father

  • powerful video..... great work!!

  • First class video 5 all the way. Due to censorship our NG1 Channel was blasted but we will not be suppressed LONG LIVE THE RUC BROTHERHOOD

  • the ruc went through some very dark days and they deserve a lot of respect for their years of service combatting the terrorists protestant and catholic .

  • Yet again we are drawn back to the dark days of the past - my thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the 2 soldiers and the police officer murdered by cowards.

  • Excellent !!

  • My dad was in the RUC, for 30 years, and he wasn't happy when they changed the name.

  • Splendid video and a great tribute to friends and colleagues, even recognize a few!!

RUC GC stood between the communities and made a lasting peace a reality for a new generation in Ulster who hopefully will never have to suffer what many of us did growing up.

Pity we didn't get a chance to see how the worlds greatest and proudest force would have policed the peace. .... Ex RUc , MSU

  • i grew up with the RUC, lived as a Station Sergent son till i was 8, i grew up for it I'll never ever forget the brave men and women of the RUC, its in my blood i'll never forget the nights i prayed my dad would come home after his colleagues were killed, i'm only thankfull that i live now with a dad who's still here but many are not. Heaven keep the men and women from the murdering bastards claiming to govern me.

Ready to take up the challenge god help us if we reply on the new breed of Policing this is only a new phase of republican warfare in politics leopards dont change their spots .... EX HMSU

  • Yes, its a disgrace, justice and democracy has been killed in the UK with the disbandment of the RUC. Good video, long live the memory of the RUC.

  • Over a 1000 hits. Many thanks to the genuine people who have watched my video to honour the RUC. Please keep your comments coming.

  • Thank you so much for this posting. There are a lot of comments on similar items where the misinformed or the plain ignorant have voiced their twisted views with obscene remarks. As a proud Ulsterman and a serving police officer I pay tribute to my colleagues in the RUC and the terrible sacrifices they made to uphold the law in the United Kingdom.

  • Never has an organisation given so much and got so little in return.

  • Comment below means "I agree with you" in Spanish.

  • Estoy de acuerdo

  • Fucking disgrace the way they were treated by Tony Bliar. 79 years of being murdered and vilified and your reward is a meaningless GC. My dad is in the one of the funeral cortege. The funeral was of his inspector Vance, murdered off duty at home in Crossgar

  • ABSOLUTLY MATE ! my father was one of the few who was asked to receive the GC, in his usualy way he told the SDC they can stick it up their arse ! having joined in sept 70 and served for 31yrs

  • We never got the George Cross we got the double cross Ex RUC....

  • Great Video. The Theme song really gives it that bit more atmosphere. Mt Dad was an RUC man and it is important that the service given by so many is remembered.
