So CareAceNet, with all the functions that the Nexus One has and all the Functions that the Omina II has, which would you say is a better phone? You did not quite mention which is better, but you pointed out a few areas in which the Omina II is superior to the Nexus one.
the nexus screen is WAY better than the omnia, the omnia has a resistive touchscreen, thats a cheaper screen, the nexus has twice the pixels, its way faster due to the 1 ghz processor, it has multi-touch, more touch friendly screen, the omnia is comparable to a bb storm more than this phone, the storm would most likely crush it as well.
You can look at the files on any Google phone by clicking Menu, settings, Apps, Manage Apps. You can edit everyfile from here, even the os system. I hate when people try to do a comparison of phone but don't know how to use the phones.
Samsungs Resistive touch screen sucks compared to the nexus Capacitive
Also nexus specs surpass the Samsung specs. And my self coming from WM 6.5 android is so much better in terms of memory usage/requirements and just all around use and even more so when u unlock root access.
@showstopper8011 I agree Nexus One has many superior elements when setting it beside the Omnia II. This video isn't purposed to compare which device is better. It's more about salvaging a point for Omnia II and discovering what Omnia II has that Nexus One doesn't.
@showstopper8011 just cause a screen is better doesn't mean its a better phone. Thats not even 10% of the battle. And who cares about capactive screens. And you saw in the video when he was scribling how the omnia II was more responsive than the nexus's more laggier screen.
The reviewer is confused. A task switcher enables you to switch between tasks. The recently-opened-apps in nexus by long pressing home-key allows you to switch between tasks therefore it is a task switcher. I REPEAT.. It is a list of recently opened apps but it works as a TASK SWITCHER!
I guess you may say it that way. I'd used the word "switch" to mean going from one open app to another (like alt-tab on Windows).
If you are confused what I meant, please refer to the video response where you can see that the task (Gallery) was killed/ended, so switching to it would meant re-opening it.
But if you are a Nexus One owner who don't care for definition and just want it to work, it shouldn't matter. :)
You do realize they they are the EXACT same screen right? The screen on the N1 is manufactured by Samsung Mobile Displays. SMD is the only company to be manufacturing the 3.7" AMOLED for mobile phones. The N1 also has a task switch; you need to long press the home button. This is a worthless comparison.
@tattoos01: Yes, I tried and that was what I'm referring to. It's not a task switcher. It brings up a list of recently opened applications/processes. I guess you can regard them as Task Switcher - they basically relaunch the application rather than switching over.
@arasureynn: We've noted in the touchscreen analysis (in our article) that the 2 screens are different. But they can be compared nonetheless (I've added link to the original DIY touchscreen analysis at the info).
there are file managers for android just because it isn't native doesn't mean they dont exist. also the touch screen comparison is inaccurate because the omnia is a resistive touchscreen where as the nexus one is capacitive, resistive touch screens are always going to be more accurate especially with the use of a stylus.
@banoogster, unfortunately, that is not actually a task switcher. It's more of a recently open programs/processes.
For Android, when the process memory is low, it shuts off (other) running applications that might be open. But it does indicate, like what you saw in 4: 04 that these are the program/processes that were ran recently.
Dude What the hell ?? 'Its more of a recently open program/processes'
Are u nuts ? Its actually for multitask -___- When you open browser and navigate to a link, and open another program, the browser actually remain on that link (not start again) that is what u called a task switcher
I think you need to go to google and type Define:task switcher sigh.....
Android only shut off the process when it is idling/inactive (you closed it)
THE NEXUS ONE HAS A 512 MB OF RAM , THAT! my friend isn't a problem and it ain't gonna shut down + it has task switcher , just hold Home for a few sec.. and that's why there are APP market ...for apps like astro which allows you to browse files on your sd card...the person on the video did have the app and yet he claimed the nexus one doesn't have the ability (maybe by default he means but still)..anyway this video is a joke, total joke
@hacsac22, the video is more of a demonstration of the components the Samsung Omnia II has and Nexus One doesn't. Vice verse, there are certainly items that Nexus One has and Samsung Omnia II doesn't.
I'm not claiming that either of the device is better than the other.
oooooits draws lines better. haha no i get it ive seen the resoning behind why people show that... but it really is no big deal... does anyone else actually agree with this kid that the this phone is better than the nexus one... are you serious!?...

Except of the animated background on N1,Omnia II is much more fun and usefull.
My vote to OMNIA II.

Dude file explorer can be download. there is probably thousand available to be download for free with 1 click from the market.
AND FYI:
the n1 may not be as smooth for the touch screen, but the omnia LAG like shit. so whats the point?
windyzz 2 years ago
On the N1, you can download Astro (free) to explore the files on the phone.
On the N1, you can hold down the "Home" button to switch between tasks.
You can download SlideScreen (free), which would give the N1 the same informational interface that you showed for the Omnia.
I own a Droid, but it's 90% the same as the N1.

Problem is, the Nexus One doesn't call it a task switcher, while the Omnia does. Doesn't stop it from being a task switcher, though.

@sooperman12, they are both AMOLED display but the touchscreen is different as arasureynn has pointed out.
And for the task switcher, we've tried to make it clear that it is NOT a task switcher, please refer to the video response. Thanks.

Try holding the home key on the nexus to get a list of running tasks.
You might need to read the nexus manual to find out what its capable of.
