@illevenlickthegravy are like in a comic book, because comic books are fantasy, nothing more and nothing less, but if you want to create plausibility then you have to face all the non-sense of this!! Finally, the Bat-Man was born in 1939, at the time a masked vigilante could have survived, police was not so well prepared and there were no satellites, GPS, electronic devices to track him down, so this plausible, but in 2010 Batman would never exist, and this is not plausibility!!
@illevenlickthegravy then you have to face the truth that everything in TDK is ridiculous!! Harvey Dent driven around the town in a police truck with nothing but a car as back up, it doesn't make any sense, if someone is in a risky situation, then you have all the patrols available to protect him!! And finally, in the real world no judge would ever allow the police to rely on "a man dressed up like a bat"!! If we want to have fantasy world like Burton's Batman, then it's justified that things
@illevenlickthegravy Moreover, if the city is really under the attack of crime, in real world (like Nolan loves) US government would send the army, air force, whatever they can to stop it! In Nolan's movie criminals do what they want, policemen are idiots and they let a psycho with make up do what he wants, that's not real! In TDK Nolan wants to be real, but everything is actually unplausible, and if you want to break the rules, then you have to create them, but if you want to deal with reality
@illevenlickthegravy speak too much, who can make a comparison? Moreover, if you found yourself before a 6 ft 3 in muscle man dressed as a Bat just for 5 seconds, would you be so concentrated to analyze his voice?? I really don't think so! Batman is a great character also because nobody would dare to stay too close to him, criminals try and fight him, but no common person would ever stand too close!! And once again, he speaks so few that you would never have the chance to recognize his voice!!
@funzi159 You're thinking of it as watching him do it. If you were faced by Batman then you'd be scared even more by a growly voice than the voice of a man. It makes him more of a beast than a man. I didn't laugh and I understood every word, or maybe that's just me. I loved BB as well and I think somewhere in between BB and TDK would've been perfect. The reason the police aren't looking is because they want the help. If your city was a damaged as Gotham, then any police force would accept the
@illevenlickthegravy If someone talked to me that way I would need a translator to understand!! He really is INCOMPREHENSIBLE!!! Plus, it's not only the voice that makes the character, but also the presence and the eyes behind the mask; Michael Keaton was great because he had those eyes making you think "My, this is insane, this is not a human being, this is gonna kill me" while the eyes of Bat-Bale are those of a mole, he was better in Begins, that was really intimidating!!!
@funzi159 Honestly, you're joking about but if it was real, you'd shit yourself. So would I and everyone else. You don't need to understand him but the growly voice would scare you even more. You wouldn't criticise this massive beast in front of you, you'd break down and cry. I didn't get that AT all with Keaton. Plus, there's nothing to Keaton's Bruce and Batman. He's suave, sophisticated and completely separate to Batman like it's just different men playing him. There's no psychological effect
@funzi159 on Keaton's Bruce from playing Batman. Like, if Rachel Dawes was in Batman 1989, she wouldn't see anything wrong with Bruce Wayne. Whereas in Nolan's versions, the psychology plays into it. There's psychological strain on Bruce from Batman and I don't believe that after 10 odd years playing him, Keaton would have no effect on him whatsoever. Also, in BB he's more intimidating because he plays the shadows a lot more, TDK he's a lot more frantic and rushed because of Joker.
@illevenlickthegravy I don't agree with most of what you said, but probably you have to re-watch 1989 "Batman" like most of the people!! Begins and TDK are faithful to the latest comic books like "Year One" and "Long Halloween", while Keaton's Batman is closer to the original vision of Bob Kane, who also collaborated to the movie!! they're different movies, but personally I will always prefer Michael Keaton, since Bat-Bale is just a man with a Bat-suit, while Michael Keaton IS THE BAT!!
@illevenlickthegravy I can be intimidated by Bat-Bale, but he could punch me in the face a hundred times and still I wouldn't understand a word of what he says!! And he's not scary at all in TDK, this is why criminals and the Joker always make a fool out of him, he's also very slow!! Closing, Michael Keaton is a Bruce Wayne very close who keeps everything inside, he doesn't show anything, while Bale is someone who needs attentions, too many!! But still they're different movies, that's all!
@illevenlickthegravy Final message, everyone has his own opinion and I respect yours, absolutely, even if I don't share it!! But thank you for the discussion, I always like to see different points of view!! :)
@funzi159 The man in a bat suit is the point of the realistic Batman that Nolan has tried to create. Again, he's not going to talk to you like he does to Joker or anything, you'll just hear his rage. Like I said, in BB he plays the shadows well and jumps from one darkness to the other and sneaks up on people etc, which is why he's more intimidating. Joker has turned Gotham into anarchy and that's why he's not so intimidating, he's frantically trying to stop Joker who's all over the place.
@funzi159 He hasn't got the time to intimidate as much. He's a lot more human and the stresses of being Batman shows off in his other aspects of life. I still don't believe that Keaton is so cool and composed. A realistic Batman would have so much physical and psychological effect on him. Like Nolan made his Bruce. Plus, 1989 Batman is more about the villains then it is Batman. Love the film but not as much as Nolan's films. Yes, completely different films.
@funzi159 lol, you said it right there. I respect your opinion no matter how much I disagree and we'll never agree so there's no point continuing lol. Also, Joker in love? Nolan makes Joker crazy without being a clown! That is all :)
@funzi159 help whilst pretending to look for the Batman because they're required to. I agree that Conroy is Batman through and through and it would've worked for a standard version Batman film, but this is a more realistic rendition and it just doesn't work. You just need to hear him speak for a second and you'd know it's Conroy/Bruce. I'm sure he's come close to common people when he helps them and he talks to Gordon and the police force a fair amount. It just takes one to realise it's Bruce.
@batbrill No, he didn't. He was trying to create a voice that would be intimidating and unrecognisable. When he's the Batman he is ONLY the Batman and uses a whole different persona. Kevin Conroy IS Batman, but be honest, who wouldn't recognise Bruce Wayne's voice if they heard it as Batman? It doesn't work in Nolan's more realistic world. Bale's Batman voice is perfect for what it needs to be, maybe tone it down ever so slightly but it does it's job.
@illevenlickthegravy Bale's voice is modified in post-production, Batman would get a cancer in 3 days talking like that!! And the realistic approach of Nolan is just a bland excuse, because in the real world police could identify him a 1000 times with traces of DNA from his spit and find the Bat-cave with satellites and GPS, so there was really no need to modify it into that ridiculous voice!! Even Kevin Conroy said it was ridiculous, and he's a professional voice actor!!
@funzi159 Some from Bale and then it was turned up in post-production. The police aren't looking for him, but they might if they recognised his voice. It's the regular people of Gotham who have heard Bruce speak publicly, and if they heard Batman with Bruce's voice then it'd be so obvious. Especially with a voice as recognisable as Conroy's. Plus it's for intimidation. I agree it was a bit over done but it does what needs to. Tone it down slightly in DKR but I'd be fine if they don't.
@illevenlickthegravy It was ok in Begins, but in this one is too much!! He doesn't sound intimidating, he just makes you laugh and you don't understand what he says!! Begins was a great movie, I still love it a lot, because there was balance!! And concerning the police, in the real world they would look for a masked vigilante anyway, so this is against Nolan's philosophy!! And in the end, Kevin Conroy was the real voice of Batman, maybe he was easily recognizable, but since Batman doesn't
This goes to show that there's a reason why bales talks like that. If he talked normal it just wouldn't make sense at all. All you people are delusional. Also, Kevin conroys voice felt completely wrong mixed with this batman
wow keving conroy and eastwood's voices matches perfectly. Kevin's is deeper though and fits better in my opinion. But eastwood's is ten times better than bale's,
Hey Waynesmalereturns! I know the Peter Weller stuff is from Robocop, I know the Kevin Conroy stuff is from Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998) and the Clint Eastwood stuff is from Dirty Harry but...Where is the Ron Perlman, Vin Diesel, Rufus Sewell, Michael Wincott, Edward James Olmos and Lance Henriksen stuff from? Because I'd really like to know so, I could download those movies.
Lance Henriksen would've been great. I sitll like Keaton's creepy whisper, and Kevin Conroy is classic. He's not supposed to sound like some raving lunatic, he's supposed to be cold and scary. Bale missed the mark on that one.
Vin Deisel? No. Batman needs a gravelly, deep voice. Peter Weller? too athoritative. Ron Pearlman? same as vin deisel Clint Eastwood? actually quite a good substitute Kevin Conroy? PERFECTION Rufus Sewell? too whispery Micheal Wincott? Quite good. Edward James Olmos? meh Lance Henriksen? Also Quite good . Also, on that list should be Micheal Ironside. He voices Sam Fisher for the splinter cell series; Typing in this: Splinter Cell Conviction X10 Gameplay Should take you straight to a good vid.
I dont know... I think its a matter of taste! You cant say its bad or good. Still i think its little strange that he have to sound like a wierd old man! Thats my opinion sorry about my english
You missed a chance there with Clint Eastwood, as Batman's voice is often compared to his in the comics. Next time, add Eastwood's voice from his later years, like from "Gran Torino"
@UnbornChild Eastwood is eastwood he sounds the same from any year and he sounds older rather then tougher in his older days which is why i went with classic clint rather then the older clint.
@waynesmalereturns dude i ironic thing is kevin conroy is the ,ost famous batman voice for his work in batman the animated series and his work in batman arkham asylum oh and can u make a sequel but use the transformers voices lawl put joker as megatron and batman as optimus prime it'd be hilarious ! XD
The way that Batman talks in movie is great. Dont forget, that he is the Dark Knight. Listen how Bruce Wayne talks, he´s got that smooth voice, no one would think that he is Batman. But Batman´s voice is perfectly fit for him. He is not a good character, he is bad in some ways, and thats the way he talks too, like a bad-ass motherfucker and its sounds great, no doubt about it.
@lilCnIgGa sorry but i totally disagree with you Batman is not meant to sound Bad ass he is not meant to be heard at all which is my problem with Bale. Love the way he plays Batman but he tries to hard to ACT touch rather then just be tough.
Which is why i would make him silent more often like A Dark Knight :) but that's my view on it.
@waynesmalereturns The whole point of Bale's voice is to show that this is not Bruce Wayne running around in a bat-suit but a creature...a BATman. It's almoat as if Bruce has become posessed when he puts on the suit. That's what is so fascinating about Bale's Batman. He makes the character a rage-filled, animalistic almost psychotic individual.
@waynesmalereturns I agree I think the dark knicght should have been a less talkitive batman being he is "dark knight". Bu then again it's christain bale, and hollywood is not gonna let that happen.
@lilCnIgGa Cant agree it was a tad bit over the top kevin connroy as it down to a t in the carton and u wouldnt place this two voices together if he used his john conner voice it would have made the film way better
I've wondered if anyone involved with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight has every seen the Animated series and referred to that. Probably not. I've wondered if Heath Ledger ever looked at Mark Hamill's portrayal of the Joker. Probably not. Oh well. Christian Bale, bless him, should look at Kevin Conroy's version of Batman. That's how you do a Clint Eastwoodish voice without overdoing it.
It's amazing how well Kevin Conroy fits this version of Batman. I love Bale's Batman and all but. . .just like Mark Hamill will always be THE Joker to me, Kevin Conroy will always be THE Batman.
each actor who played batman was perfect for the film they were in. conroy's voice would not have worked in TDK and bale's would not have worked in B:TAS, and so on, and so on.....these fanboy arguments are pathetic
LMAO they should just re-relase "DK" w/ all the dialouge from "Dark City". That'd be some funny shit dude! Batman: "You know how to get to Shell Beach?" Gordon: "Yeah it's...um...you take 2 Highway to...um..."
Conroy is the best Batman, his voice alone makes a better Batman than all of the live actions combined and yes, that's counting the awesome Michael Keaton portrayal.
The deep, cold, intimidating voice is just perfect. It must be that manly jaw of his which carried on to the animated Batman. Yeah, it's definitly the jaw.
OK... Clearly a difference in opinion... I think Kevin is Batman.. I mean.. u hear the guy's voice and you dont say "hey.. he could make a gud batman" NO.. Its more like "That is Batman".. @Lordvaloroo1.. ur right he can pull off an older Bruce Wayne... In a reallife action movie of Batman beyond.. Maybe we can ask Ian Somerhalder to play Terry McGinnis..
Imo, that scene with Edward Olmos is exactly how Bale should have sounded like. Still retaining the deepness and intimidation of Batman's voice, while not sounding overdone or forced. Otherwise, Kevin Conroy was nice to see, and Perlman, Wincott and Eastwood were all interesting choices. :P But overall I guess Bale's voice sounds fine, just too overdone at times. Sounds better when he isn't screaming.
@LordValor001 I wouldn't say no-one, but KEVIN CONROY AS A FRANK MILLER STYLE DARK KNIGHT?- that is a damn interesting idea, son. Film studios are too obsessed with young pretty-boys/girls that will draw the younger audience. The look of comic book heroes is important, but increasing sex appeal decreases the heroic aspects and integrity of the role.
All of those voices rocked except for Michael Wincott who plays the same damn bad guy in every role: one who's foul-mouthed, crazy, callous, mean & everything unpleasant.
The other voices were badass though but Christian Bale is still an amazing actor, granted, Val Kilmer & George Clooney were two other great actors but their respective Batman movies stunk because of their plots & directors; it wasn't the actor's fault that the film sucked. They did good with what they had

Lance Heriksen from Aliens? C'mon seriously, Kevin Conroy would've been a greater batman than he ever could!
secrettech18 1 year ago
Lance Henriksen would've been great. I sitll like Keaton's creepy whisper, and Kevin Conroy is classic. He's not supposed to sound like some raving lunatic, he's supposed to be cold and scary. Bale missed the mark on that one.

I dont know... I think its a matter of taste! You cant say its bad or good. Still i think its little strange that he have to sound like a wierd old man! Thats my opinion sorry about my english
jonisen96 1 year ago
You missed a chance there with Clint Eastwood, as Batman's voice is often compared to his in the comics. Next time, add Eastwood's voice from his later years, like from "Gran Torino"
UnbornChild 1 year ago
@UnbornChild Eastwood is eastwood he sounds the same from any year and he sounds older rather then tougher in his older days which is why i went with classic clint rather then the older clint.

@waynesmalereturns dude i ironic thing is kevin conroy is the ,ost famous batman voice for his work in batman the animated series and his work in batman arkham asylum oh and can u make a sequel but use the transformers voices lawl put joker as megatron and batman as optimus prime it'd be hilarious ! XD
darthvenom30567 7 months ago
@UnbornChild If that is true. If Batmans voice in the comics is compared to that of Eastwood. Then another point for Keaton. He had it...

@Nicholas092282 Keaton was almost there.. I don't think he's menacing enough.

The way that Batman talks in movie is great. Dont forget, that he is the Dark Knight. Listen how Bruce Wayne talks, he´s got that smooth voice, no one would think that he is Batman. But Batman´s voice is perfectly fit for him. He is not a good character, he is bad in some ways, and thats the way he talks too, like a bad-ass motherfucker and its sounds great, no doubt about it.
lilCnIgGa 1 year ago 4
@lilCnIgGa sorry but i totally disagree with you Batman is not meant to sound Bad ass he is not meant to be heard at all which is my problem with Bale. Love the way he plays Batman but he tries to hard to ACT touch rather then just be tough.
Which is why i would make him silent more often like A Dark Knight :) but that's my view on it.
waynesmalereturns 1 year ago 3
@waynesmalereturns The whole point of Bale's voice is to show that this is not Bruce Wayne running around in a bat-suit but a creature...a BATman. It's almoat as if Bruce has become posessed when he puts on the suit. That's what is so fascinating about Bale's Batman. He makes the character a rage-filled, animalistic almost psychotic individual.
americanpsycho28 1 year ago

That's how you do a Clint Eastwoodish voice without overdoing it.

each actor who played batman was perfect for the film they were in. conroy's voice would not have worked in TDK and bale's would not have worked in B:TAS, and so on, and so on.....these fanboy arguments are pathetic

LMAO they should just re-relase "DK" w/ all the dialouge from "Dark City". That'd be some funny shit dude! Batman: "You know how to get to Shell Beach?" Gordon: "Yeah it's...um...you take 2 Highway to...um..."

batmans voice in the movie, honestly i thought he was constepated. i love the movie to death but his voice was wierd.
BEARYELL5 1 year ago

OMG YES!!!! Clint is my vote!!! Number one badasss!!!!
alieninja2007 2 years ago
Imo, that scene with Edward Olmos is exactly how Bale should have sounded like. Still retaining the deepness and intimidation of Batman's voice, while not sounding overdone or forced. Otherwise, Kevin Conroy was nice to see, and Perlman, Wincott and Eastwood were all interesting choices. :P But overall I guess Bale's voice sounds fine, just too overdone at times. Sounds better when he isn't screaming.

@nightwing4077 no one but Conroy ever! fuk he should be in the next Batman movie he looks like an Older Batman!!!
LordValor001 2 years ago
@LordValor001 I wouldn't say no-one, but KEVIN CONROY AS A FRANK MILLER STYLE DARK KNIGHT?- that is a damn interesting idea, son. Film studios are too obsessed with young pretty-boys/girls that will draw the younger audience. The look of comic book heroes is important, but increasing sex appeal decreases the heroic aspects and integrity of the role.
addressedtokill 2 years ago
@nightwing4077 kevin is the Only batman in my book. he portrays bruce and batman so well
RantingRedHead1988 1 year ago 3
All of those voices rocked except for Michael Wincott who plays the same damn bad guy in every role: one who's foul-mouthed, crazy, callous, mean & everything unpleasant.
The other voices were badass though but Christian Bale is still an amazing actor, granted, Val Kilmer & George Clooney were two other great actors but their respective Batman movies stunk because of their plots & directors; it wasn't the actor's fault that the film sucked. They did good with what they had
