Nick Hancock and Angus Deayton took the piss out of this on Room 101.
"It's interminable, it goes on FOREVER." "Is that Errol Flynn?" "If we keep it going a bit longer we won't have to give away so many prizes on Sale of the Century."
As a kid in the early 80s repeats of any classic ITV franchised show had the regional ident i.e. 'Anglia Presents' so I was lucky to have seen these once glorious franchise idents....now all we have is utter shite...Thanks Granada-Carlton for buying up all the regionals and fucking it into cocked hat and calling it all...ITV-1...muppets.
@TheMasterNo6 I miss them too my friend. And for one of the smaller franchises, Anglia seemed to produce quite alot of decent quality networked stuff - Survival documentaries, Tales of the Unexpected and Sale of the Century to name a few.
Agree 100%. Look at what the individual companies and channels produced due to competition. Many, many happy childhood memories. Remember 'Out of Town' with Jack Hargreaves? Timeless genius. That would never be made now. Growing up in East Anglia this ident was part of my life, and a happy one.
Really it was a toy kit As I heard the story it was put together quickly sprayed with silver paint, The paint is the only thing silver about Anglia's I dent. Nice to see it back
@carbiify Well said I used to look forward to all the great startups and you always remebered who produced what shows with all their little jingles today its just not the same this ITV1 2 3 and 4 lark!
Reminds me of student days in digs when TV am finished and Anglia started up at about 9-20. fabulou memories. I loved it. Not 'self-serving' not 'dated' just bloody brilliant. If it introduced a generation of kids to some classical music, raised their eyes from the ground for a minute, then it's ok by me! If that's the definition of dated, then give me dated every time.

Survival. That's what I remember Anglia most for. Look at ITV now, It's a joke. Bring back regional Broadcasting.

Me too! I feel soooo old remembering this! I'd feel even worse if I remembered the black and white one - hehehe.

This ident looks very good, and classic. But you have got to agree that it was getting very dated by 1988, which is when the flag came out.

It wasn't an airfix model. It was a solid silver hunting trophy.

Like I actually thought it was an Airfix Model! LOL!

Apparantly it's on display at the Norfolk Archive Centre in Norwich.

It got a cameo in the titles for Anglia News in the early 200s, too!

It still does.

That's good news! A bit of ITV heritage lives on. Don't tell ITV plc! They might steal it to make some extra money!

@gilhams Finally got to see it last week! What an awesome experience - I can heartily recommend it to anyone.
