I like the melancholy mood of this version. It really captures Kenji's state of mind. Friend basically has the Japanese government in the palm of his hand, he's turned Kenji into a terrorist, and he just seems unstoppable. The hopelessness of it all is in the song. But Kenji's still fighting. It's like he's saying, "I have no superpowers. I don't have a giant robot or laser guns or anything. I just have my guitar. ... I'll still save the world." (didn't like the ending of the whole manga though)

This version is the one from volume 8, the song Kenji plays right before the new millennium. The gutalala sudalala version was created over a decade later, as far as the manga fiction goes. I'm not aware of whether or not it exists.
