I love this song. We had one of those crank up record players which you could wind up & I would listen to Beethovan, The War Saw Concerto, the greats. couldn't afford a teacher for voice lessons. I would practice singing with Mario Lanzo. My father took us into the deep woods of Balsam Creek, Ontario & we lived on the other side of the West Balsam Creek at the end of Mountain view Road without electricity & I would still crank it up & sing. I'm looking to buy land there. Wonderful songs!
Well at 1:29 you can clearly see that when he looks up he is thinking "Oh God please forgive me for what i'm doing" But God won't, Richard, God won't.
WTF?? Watch between 25 and 28 second. See how he is only using his right hand to paly those cords. That is WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! I have played this peace and those cords involve BOTH hands!!!!!!!! The only compliment I can give here is between 48 and 55 seconds where he actually does a very good job playing those broken cords, they sound nice and sharp and I have heard very few pianists play that properly. The rest all sucks!!
I have heard this countless times by the greats; having said that, I still enjoyed this. Yes, the piano sounded a bit out of tune and the sync a little out too, but it was still good to listen to this edited version of a masterpiece.
C'mon guys, give the man a break. He isn't considered by Guiness... the most successful concert pianist for nothing. Maybe you're all hearing impaired. This an entirely different version - in B flat minor- than the one you're referring to. I listened to Horowitz and it's a different animal... more of chaotic regularity. Richard has more finesse, heart and soul. As you listen to his rendition, you are drawn to it and your feelings become one with the music.
Man, this is funny. I wonder what goes on in his mind when he drives home after a hard day's recording? Does he think: "Man, Rich, I'm fricken fantastic." Or does he go: "Hahaha, all those old ladies with purple hair who hand over their money, hahahaha." I love the really lame ending. With they eyes. They eyes, the eyes, look at the eyes...
The funniest part is that he is not playing the music at all. His fingers are nowhere near the correct notes. He is blindly smashing any convenient keys that are more or less close to the notes. The music was recorded in a studio, and probably required heavy editing. Musicians will always sneer at this guy, while the masses go wild over him and his sticky, syrupy fare. As for Clayderman himself, he's laughing all the way to the bank!
But... I... the hands didn't sync with the music... and he only played the simple parts... on an 18th-century piano.. and the chandelier and the soft focus. OH GOD THE SOFT FOCUS.
The best pianist in the world! He sold more cds than all the other pianists combined. And the music is great, even though some of you may not like the video.
@JOSEPHLIANG The music by Tchaikosvky is more than OK -- Clayderman's performance is decidedly not. And you're right, Clayderman is very common. (Joke.)
Unbelievable low-class phony shitttttt! How does this guy do it without breaking out laughing?! He can't even PRETEND to play the right notes!! Of course he's a zillionaire, because his fans wouldn't know good music if it came up and whacked them in the shins. PT Barnum would be proud.
Far be it from me to tell people they shouldn't like his music. After all, some people eat insects and grubs and call them delicacies. I just have to wonder: why is this man pretending to play the notes of a piece he has supposedly recorded (and ruined),allowing his hands to fall haphazardly onto any keys at all? Did he forget the notes? Probably. He's now faking it, like a movie pianist. He is fooling us, because he thinks his fans are stupid. He is acting, and feels nothing. Strange. Smart.
Ward Davis.. are you a concert pianist? if you are.then why are you even watching this video? and if you are not a concert pianist then are you just jealous at this guy...having money and freedom to create whatever he likes for the people who likes his music. If you love the fine classical art then why be so petty ??
It is hilarious to read comments from all of those self-appointed critics and defenders of the high art. Fact is that this man sold millions of copies of his music to millions of people while these self-made critics are nothing but a bunch of wanna-be - who cares if you dont like it ? do you even make any music that anyone ever want to listen to ? hehe....so funny !!!
every song I hear from him..inspires me to travel to another dimension where the only 2 feeling I can recognize are freedom and love!!! I love him.. all his songs are amazing!!! This is pure music
i am really happy i dont know too many things about piano , so i like almost every piece from richard clayderman , without thinking if he is good or not
Wow, did that suck, Tchaikovsky rolls in his grave. The hand-syncing (you know what I mean) is worse than Britney's lip-syncing. An early piano isn't going to sound like that. The concerto has been fed into a blender. Aw, there's so much wrong here, I don't have all day.
Stick to the syrupy pop ballads,Richard, and leave the tough stuff to the heavyweights.

It´s an easy arrangement of this classical piece....I don´t care why people is so scared about someone who makes different things, and don´t say anything about the 90% horrible music like : reggaeton, disco etc...C´mon..if you can do it better, then talk...
Firstly, he only played all the simple parts cos he technique is simply not good enough for a piece like this. Too make it worse, the piano sounded horrible I don't know if it's because of the recording but it sounded horribly thin and harsh. His playing was also colourless. Compare this to the interpretations of Horowitz, Argerich etc and you will see how amateurish this is.
This piece is by Tchaikovsky, one should note....

“You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time!"
Timing – hand synchronization, as Ironflange points out, is atrocious.
The acoustics are so out of balance, mainly due to the piano sounding like an old Pub honky-tonk and not the an 19thc classic.
Forgive me, but what on earth is going on at 2.09. A cadenza is depending on what the composer specifies.
This whole piecse sounds like it’s a mish-mash for some low budget cartoon.
