you need money in this world but Jesus is the only true way to god if you only fear god in the first place then you can keep your money give what you can but just love jesus. the tithe for the most part is learning to feel the pain of christ and finding your way into heaven or hell. word is born that being loud about peace or something opposing the government is a quick way into heaven

@SubconsciousGatherer Some church organisations actually use the money for the right things, and some, unfortunately, don't--and they're usually the ones that ask for it so forcingly. You can't judge all because of this.

@SubconsciousGatherer Look at it this way God doesn't need your money ! He needs your obedience.So, be obedient and tithe and be greatful for the fact that you are only asked to tithe 10% and you get to keep the other 90% for yourself. It ould be the other way around (90% tithe and 10% for you) ! God gave his only son for all of us ! I think that that is worth way more than 10% of your earnings to the church to help them reaching others with Gods word ! : )

@Allansangel I'd rather look at it truthfully and realize there are no gods, so giving my money to a church is like giving my money to a pyramid scheme. The day that someone, ANYONE, can prove that a god exists, I'll immediately change my mind, but until that day I'll be a proud atheist. (I'll also have more of my money in my pocket this way, too.)

A perfect deity would not need anything. If God existed pre-universe, in total perfection (lacking "need" of any kind) then he'd have no reason to create anything.

Truth, reason and honesty are far more noble qualities than believing in imaginary beings.

@Allansangel If there was really a GOD. This wouldn't be here. I mean really? You have to make a choice between cash or christ? Christ wouldn't allow this foolishness. There's no God. I mean seriously. The story book fairytales are silly. If there was God, you'd be fried by now for all of your sins. Everyone would. This world is full of corruption.
