i have to tell you, my FAVORITE keyboard player in the universe is dave stewart (the REAL one!), one of my FAVE bass-players (payin' attention billy?) is mont campbell, & one of my FAVE bands EVER is egg (with hatfield not far behind)! i just discovered this lineup (youz guyz) like 15 min's ago, & THIS is where billy belongs! puh-LEEZ, make him listen to egg's 3rd lp, "civil surface (particularly "enneagram" & "germ patrol")," as well as their 2nd, "polite force."

That is the rotating horn in the top of a Leslie speaker cabinet. they are very commonly used in tandem with Hammond B3's. They make a kinda worbly/vibrato sound that is signature with rock and jazz organ

I don't know about pop, but any metal bassist that can play the best jazz fusion and knows his theory is way freaking better than the average metal bassist. Two examples I could think of off of the top of my head would be John Myung and Alex Webster.
