As well, most of my Family has Served the United States Mil, and some are special forces, retired, etc.. I served in the Marines in the late 60's, early 70's. Seems like the DI's are more theatrical, than when I past throgh MCRD. Why do they need women DI's??? Our DI's, were for the most part Vietnam combat vets,who despite their hollering,seemed more proffesional than these wanna be DI's. Whats with the dyke???
@loughran03 Things have changed since that time with the aspect that these poolees are not guarenteed a tour of combat as oppossed to during your time. Women recruits are trained by female Drill Instructors, and male recruits are trained by male Drill Instructors. A Marine is a Marine as far as that goes.
@loughran03 It can be theatrical. The funniest is that we had a confidence course where we were running through what was expected of us. There was a 6ft wall to scale (the easiest part), and a female DI was asked to show how it's done. After what seemed like an eternity of fail, they went and got her a stool so it was easy to pull herself up. That was the first example where I saw women will never be Marines. Usually they become barracks whores and get pregnant, or just flat out malingerers.

@oldstock1607, this is not bootcamp, it is a Poolee function! A "Poolee" is a young man or woman who has joined the Corps but is waiting to ship out. Ever hear of the Delayed Entry Program? These functions are arranged by recruiters to try to teach Poolees the basics and give them a little taste of what to expect.and families are welcome. Some of the DIs we used were recruiters who had also done a tour in the drill field and volunteered to play the part. Other functions involved PT, and M16 Fam.
@alessandro1281 yes, I was a marine corps poolee myself at one time. I never saw any family members at these functions. That must be a relatively new thing.

I actually had a pool function in Montgomery, AL six or seven months ago with these DI's. The female was FAR more intimidating than the male DI's. I felt like her voice was shattering my soul. But I ship for Parris Island in 23 days, so wish me luck. Oorah.

@rev500ss The yelling is to completely disorient recruits and basically melt down their head. It's so confusing, so hectic, people just break down, I probably will too. But meh, when they're actually teaching you, the instructor talks to you and isn't screaming and expecting a response like that.

Relax. A bunch of this stuff is just to get everyone to work as a group. Eyeballs, eyeballs, is to get you guys to respond more quickly to commands. It doesn't make sense at first. It quickly does. There's going to be some douche who is an idiot. If you have either a brain OR street smarts, you'll be OK.

@oldstock1607, this is not bootcamp, it is a Poolee function! A "Poolee" is a young man or woman who has joined the Corps but is waiting to ship out. Ever hear of the Delayed Entry Program? These functions are arranged by recruiters to try to teach Poolees the basics and give them a little taste of what to expect.and families are welcome. Some of the DIs we used were recruiters who had also done a tour in the drill field and volunteered to play the part. Other functions involved PT, and M16 Fam.

I actually had a pool function in Montgomery, AL six or seven months ago with these DI's. The female was FAR more intimidating than the male DI's. I felt like her voice was shattering my soul. But I ship for Parris Island in 23 days, so wish me luck. Oorah.
