Take note: this oto's eyes are popping-out, not in-line with the lateral profile of it's head. This is an under-fed oto; don't buy it. Fat otos are healthy otos!
Before I get a new shipment of wild otos, I'd start up a holding tank 60X30X36cm which is cycled, illuminated & dosed with liquid ferts so that algae grows. Decor includes wood, leaves & floating plants for the otos to graze upon. Also, over-filtering (Fluval 404!) + above helps them acclimatise better too.
@86HairMetal - I had just bought this fish, so it was indeed under nourished. Yes, a lot of Otos die within the first month of ownership due to the use of Cyanide to capture them and the near sterile condition the distributors keep them in. So lots of Algae is required to get their strength up ASAP.
That wasnt a care video at all...

@TheFightingwarrior - No of course not.

@TheFightingwarrior I think so cuz these are very popular community tank fish. Just make sure the semi aggresive fish have enough room with the otos

The more the merrier. In the wild they cluster together in schools of thousands.

"Cool. I'm thinking of getting some of these due to the price and size of plecos."
If you mean plecos, you are horribly wrong, common plecos grow to 48cm in length.
Bristlenose plecos grow to ~5 inches, which is what i decided to get. But when someone just says pleco, they mean a common pleco.
If you were talking about the oto's, I already knew that.
