this happens to me only in my front door speakers... i replaced the speaker with some Infinity Kappa that came with crossovers but it still sounds like shit!!! what im gonna do, is put a after market stereo inside the glove box!!! and connect them to the current speakers and install a aftermarket amp and a sub box!!

@LOKOGONO it's not the speakers, it's either the ask controller or the amp that causes these problems... sad to see such a nice car with serious issues like this..

@harjothundal so u have not fix your problem yet?? i have warranty but it does not cover the sound system.... since mine only does this on the front door speakers i was thinking on connecting them to the sub that is n the center of the dash board behind the screen...

@LOKOGONO Your front door speakers are controlled by the ASK controller (the single cd unit in your dash) so this would most likely be the cause of this failure... The speaker in your dash behind the idrive display is a center channel midrange speaker, it's not a subwoofer... If you have L7, you have 2 8" subwoofers, one under each seat in the front... You can't just take a signal from one speaker and split it onto another, you'll mess with the impedance and most likely cause more damage...

@harjothundal i do have L7 . i tought it was a sub cause it sounds very nice.. i dont know if i have subs under the seats ill check.. so if it is the ask what can i do?

@LOKOGONO if you have L7 then you have the subs... BMW could not fix mine, even after replacing every single component... BMW ended up buying back my vehicle as it had spent more than a month in the shop for various issues...

trust me bro your speakers/ subs are blown out just replace them and you will be cool, i did that to my friends 2003 bmw 745Li it sounded the same and he bought it used from a dealer. we changed the subs and the front and rear speakers a later on he added a stronger sub amp.

Replace the amp, this is a very usual fault with the E65.

Sorry to sound like a copy cat but im also having the same exact problem & it's driving me F*ckin Bannas, there's no reason for a 100K + car to be having this issue, I just got it back from the dealership & they told me that the whole reciever need's to be replaced which is gonna cost me $2000,00 it's a 2005 745LI

@dmfx360 from what i was able to gather from my ownership of the vehicle, the l7 amplifier gets very hot and certain components in the l7 amp fail from heat exhaustion... bmw has a fan placed in the rear but go for a long drive and then feel the unit, it's always burning hot... the ask unit is also prone to failure... the l7 amp is the silver unit sitting at a slant in your trunk right next to the navi unit, the ask is the single cd/volume control unit in your dash...

@dmfx360 both units cost anywhere between 1500-2000 and require dealer programming... i agree that it's absurd for such an expensive vehicle to have these issues... i had everything in my vehicle replaced, all speakers amps etc etc, and they still could not fix the problem... what a nightmare it was...

I HAVE the same problem with my 03 745 Li changed the amp twice. They said they changed the speakers, it sounds good for the first 5 mins of loud playing but after that they sound just like yours.

i had my l7 amp replaced too, as well as navigation computer... dealer claims they tried a new ask unit, though they never parmanently switched it... this car's logic 7 is a bad ass system, good enough to where a basshead like me was satisfied... but when things go wrong, they go way wrong... good luck with your problem...

yes, on the earlier models you have to buy a btum (bluetooth upgrade module) which was just a motorola telephone shaped adapter that docked into the vehicles connector enabling bluetooth phone communication...

the dealer was unable to repair the issue.. it progressively got worse until you really cuold listen to music much at all... dealer claimed that a "future software update" may alleviate the problem... the car was lemon lawed and bought back by bmw a few months after all these problems couldnt be repaired...

the 745 was discontunied for a reason! and that reason is that it had so many technical mal functions that it spent more time in the shop then on the road, same thing that is going on with land rovers from the yrs 2007-above. Thats why they made a facelift version of the 7series and works a hell lot better with no problems. besides it looks a lot better, and now everyone is buying the e65-66 7series cause they decreased in value and i am trading my s550 for a 750i cause bmw have a great warranty

That is deffo the sound of blown speakers...go to an independent in car audio specialist to check it out and go back to the dealer with the results...and ask to have them replaced.

I worked at mercedes on audio systems and this system would have been thrown out. The wires and everything dealing with the audio interface would be replaced.

my dad has the same car with the same problem all i did was turned up everything the logic 7 to the max, all the equalizers to the max, and the bass and treble all the way up and it sounds great it kicks like crazy.

That is Fact. Plus you got that car from Dealer. I have the CD and I know its good and sounds good. German SPeaKer should be good so that car stereo system is Fact. Im thinking bout getting E65 but If that happening to all E65 or E66 I got a think bout it. I can`t think bout driving with out MUSIC

its not normal dude we had the same issue in kuwait and BMW Germany was kind to inform me how to fix the problem itsby replacing the CD not the CD Changer system only the one in the middle then the audio will be just fine its simple as that if you need anything about BMW be free to ask =)

whats up bro, amrithari sikh here! car is an 03, had it for about 3 years now. shes been trouble free for the most part despite some module failures here n there. there was a most bus failre in my navigation system (mk3) but that has been replaced and repaired. most bus is functioning fine per the dealer. i suspect cas module failure. theyve tried to jump the tcu, replace the ask and the subs, but no success. shes back at the dealer right now for this and a power steering issue.
