When I was 12, my older sister used to bite her nails, but was cured when my mum put white sticky tape over her mouth in a crowded shopping mall whilst everyone was watching. Very embarrassing, but it worked. Something to think about if you can't seem to break the habbit ;-X

My nails used to grow very long and they'd start to break, so I had to bite them off.

I started biting them off if I noticed they were getting too long (usually in class or somewhere without a proper nail clipper) Eventually I found it satisfying to bite them and break them off.

It's a nasty habit, but it's not done out of nervousness, at least for me anyways. I catch myself doing it often when I'm watching a movie or TV or something.

Too true on the biting the finger nails, I got caught on that habit back in high school and finally quit it, I have had on manicure done, but now I just keep my nails trimmed. I will admit I have had girls compliment me on my nails, but seriously I don't do anything special to them... Just don't bite and simply keep them trimmed.

Did a lot of yard work, used to volunteer at an aquarium and had my hands bit by a lot of stuff (snakes, mean fish, baby sharks) so my hands are scarred up and full of calluses.
