  • excellent view of pre war japan..very good.

  • 奈良公園の鹿がいまよりずっと大人しいのが驚きだ!

  • japan is a beautyful country ,,,been to japan twice, and the people are one of a kind ,,

  • Japan was a Demonic Country during the prewar period

  • Japanese want to invade whole Asia becuase of their own interest not to liberate the Asia from the westerners .....

  • only female dogs talk dirty on PC and what you change in this world? nothing

  • to support a smaller country against the bigger one. hope not to invade again...

  • @RenGader Such is propaganda during times o fwar.

  • @Dimensionaluk

    1932 wasn't a time of war

  • @tedman0674 It's building up to it. Relations were beginning to worsen, propaganda meant the indigenous people would be more likely to accept the war.

  • @tedman0674

    Not for America it wasnt....

  • @Lubunumber2

study some history and you will see, that 1932 wasn't war and that obtains for America as well.

  • @tedman0674

I'm not the one that needs to study my history. In 1931, Japan invaded Manchuria. Yeah, for smart-asses like you, it wasn't war, but when a country invades another for land, thats pretty fucking close.

  • @tenga3wa10

Good luck trying to fit all your cousins on that Island. LOL

  • Japan - The Sinking Empire

  • Japan=the beacon of chopstick civilizations.

  • china "big brother" will always take care of our "little brother" japan.

  • @bunuhmelayuharam hey hey hey, whats with 'bunuhmelayuharam' nick? anyway, liked how you put japan as our 'little brother'..hahaha

  • @MsKOHIBARIL 日本いちばんですね^^

  • dont forget nissan gtr, ps 3, psp and animme

  • @tenga3wa10 You got the point!

  • @tenga3wa10 Well back in 1970s-1980s there were conflicts within the borders but the main reason -I think is because Vietnam invaded China's ally Cambodia. Plus Viet government under communist rule is weaken. They lost many battles against Chinese in those days now they sold their lands for Chinese!

  • @tenga3wa10 You mean Sino-Japanese War? lol

  • Japan is the capital of Hentai and Anime!

  • Japan was staying indoors from a historical viewpoint.

Expansive was only at WW2 and 豊臣秀吉.

The essence of Japan is not to fight positively though it is strong when fighting.

  • LOL at you guys who are fighting to win the title of killers/rapers/bombers. imagine the victims who live with the effect of the mercury now are your family, the women who got raped were your wives/sisters/mothers.

  • hahahahahahahahah. thank you for this.

  • God bless Japan.

  • @LastCommodore Shinto not God because most Japanese worship Shinto!

  • I think W.C. Fields narrated this vid!!!

  • Thank you for sharing this magnificent footage and glimpse into the past.

  • This is the time when Japan, was still Japan. Before the ruthless rapid militarization, world war 2, occupation, Americanization, and degeneration.

  • @marshall9doom What are you talking about. The Japanese have always been warlike and expansive. We tried to invade Korea many times but China always stopped us. We are a warrior people but when the Americans came they pacified our military and now we are only famous for things like manga, anime and otaku. No wonder birth rates are low.

  • @sgtodeath

You have my sympathy...but you have to acknowledge that treating your "Asian" brothers as inferiors is wrong. Especially to a "Brother" which shaped Japan's politics and society since day 1.

  • @sgtodeath

Did you know that Japan got almost all of it's culture and civilization from China. Yeah, so China is kind of like your mother country, atleast in antiquity, and Japan nowadays is not just famouse for it's manga, anime, and otaku, you left out Japanese fashions, video games, horror movies, and who could leave out Robots!

  • @sgtodeath

Well you might not be aware of this but China is your mother country, almost all of Japanese culture and civilization is derived from China, your kanji, architecture, and religions mostly originally came from China. Also Japan is not only known for it's manga, anime, and otaku, it's also well known for it's fashion, horror movies, video games, and robots!

  • @gatheringleaves Japan came from China aswhile as korea. their a Mix of the two, like white and black mix you get a native. j/k on the last part.

  • As a half japanese person i'd absolutely love to be able to go back in time and visit japan pre WW2 when it was truly authentic like in this video

  • Interesting video but also inaccurate. At 3:25 he states that the temple is in Kyoto when in fact the temple is Todaji Temple in Nara. I know cause I have been to this very temple.

  • @gingersnapswolf Eh...That is not the Republic of Japan nowadays but it was Empire of Japan.

  • @jualkyn Koreans are ignorant pigs, Chinese are communist scumbags.

  • @grungedog3 Americans are all of these things plus more.

  • japan was a peaceful and clean country until the 1603-1868.

  • Japan thinks it's a victim, but everything that happened to Japan between 1930-1945 WAS ITS OWN FAULT.

  • This is a wonderful collection of vintage footage. Thank you for posting these.

  • Japan is a vassal state of America

  • Japan has already bought America

  • @zaitano im pretty sure we already own japan

  • japan is the capital of nintendo

  • alas, effect sounds in this film such as instlument 1:19 or bell ring 2:57 are so fake, sounds like chinese

  • @hiranumakiichirou sound like your mama screamin while i screw her.

  • the time has come for japanese to revenge fall of their empire!!!!

  • I like to go to japan :-( someday

  • its interesting how American media opinion of Japanese changed 180 degrees after dec 7th 1941. I'm not criticizing it, its just interesting.

  • people in this footage were all kinda dressed in their best. their real life was more poor than this at that time.

  • I really enjoyed watching this video as Japan was much better and nicer place to live than today. Today many people are suffering economically as well as other factors. After all Japan is rather small island nation, about the size of California, and densely populated in major cities. But the country side is still very pritty with montain, river and forest.

  • japan was good at that time!!!

  • Interesting video. I wish I lived during that time. Thanks for posting.

  • only if u were white. lots of racist back then was scary. and i think u are white

  • haha! Racist is what someone calls you when their losing an argument.

  • what arguement?

  • Simply marvellous!!!!! Perla.

  • Viewer, please leave political statements out of this video.

  • fuck your mum

  • Just saying, leave political statements out of an otherwise non-political video.

  • Viewer, please leave political statements out of this video.

  • They're pretty xenophobic towards China excluding Taiwan, they need good relations toward each other.

I admire their way of life and achievements, in Japan, showing respect is the highest honor and I agree, but what I really hate is the "anime culture", it's downgrading humanity, ever heard of the news that a loser married a video game character from DS?

  • How could you hate anime?

It's way more entertaining and interesting then most american cartoons and television shows for that matter

And Japanese movies are way superior than most trashy american ones

  • neither anime/manga nor modern western cartoons (Family Guy in particular) are any good

  • Well I agree with you on the Family Guy part. That horrible show is insulting and degrading, but I think you're wrong about all anime/manga AND western cartoons not being any good. While I do agree that alot of them are overly-cliched and juvenile or stupid, there are many that are really good

Anime: Death Note, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Elfen Lied, Higurashi, Bokurano, Sgt. Frog

Western Cartoons: Avatar the Last Airbender, Spongebob Squarepants, The Boondocks, Moral Orel

  • @gatheringleaves i do agree with you,but people are entitled to their own opinions.

  • Not when the opinions suck, and anyway what comment were

    you referring to?

  • @gatheringleaves when you said "how could anyone not like anime?it is so much better than the american trash, etc." I do agree with you in the fact that i am a devoted anime fan, which is part of the reason that i studied japanese and ended up moving here, but i just think that is such a strong comment to make as some people may think otherwise, and the main reason so many people dont like it is they dont understand the culture behind it.

  • Love the fact they got WC Fields to narrate it.

  • classic!

  • A Beautiful Video, no wonder Americans became so obsessed wtih Japan at this time.

  • @amdsoccer94 Japan got what it asked for.

  • @amdsoccer94 no america saved japan from savage/insanity. america did the best thing in history that was dropping atomic bombs twice. it liberated many asian countries.

  • @07090614 no we pretty much fucked em up the ass for fun. USA raped japan.

  • @amdsoccer94 yes you pretty much fucked them up but then you got more fucked up by USA thr. A-bomb TWICE! lol

  • @07090614 im an american. im saying that USA fucked japan.

  • @amdsoccer94 China did it for you

  • @amdsoccer94 ok, I'll be fair, China took Japan's army, America took Japan's Navy

  • @Whatever38458 no we pretty much raped the fuck outa the entire japanese military. USA kicks ass.

  • @amdsoccer94 could've done it without China dude i'm sorry but its true.

  • @Whatever38458 LOL!!!!!!!!!!! are you fucking kidding me?? we couldve raped them 10 times over!!!!

  • @amdsoccer94 oh so thats why the Pacific Fleet got raped within a few hours on 7th Dec 1941? Thats why Wake, Guam, Phillipines etc were lost within 3 months of hostilities? Thats why MacArthur ran off and left 75,000 men to their fate in Bataan? In a time like that China was the only front in the Asia Pacific where the Allies were victorious and at that still spared troops to bail out the British in Burma. It was China that bailed everybody else out in the Asia Pacific, even Roosevelt admits it.

  • @Whatever38458 1) pearl harbor was a assholish supprise attack that caught the fleet off guard

    2) we had little deffences set up on those islands because we were unprepared for war

    3) the 75000 surrendered, he didnt leave them to their fate

    4) we funded the chinese and we had men helping them stupid.

  • @amdsoccer94

    1) and why exactly was the fleet caught offguard? assholish surprise attack indeed.

    2) little defences on these islands? why wernt you prepared for war? so according to you, anyone who attacks when the enemy is unprepared is an asshole? I can tell you YOU are the asshole if you werent prepared dammit.

    3) Why did the 75,000 surrender? did everyone have a rifle? if so why did they surrender? if not why not? cant the world's biggest industrial power supply its army?

  • @Whatever38458 The Chinese could win, so whats ur excuse for losing the Phillipines, Wake and Guam etc?

  • @Whatever38458 we took em all back, with the exception of wake because we just kinda skipped over it.

  • @Whatever38458 dont say you were helping the Chinese cos American help didnt arrive in ernest until at least March-42 and this was Dec-41

  • @Whatever38458 thats barely a few months dumbass.

  • @amdsoccer94 Yup the barely a few months which had it not been for China you woulda lost the war before it even began dude

  • @Whatever38458 I understand and appreciate that you are proud and protective of China and it's reputation, but as a shameless, fact-twisting propagandist, I cannot respect you. A great country can still be considered great without people feeling the need to lie about it's history.

  • The Chinese had no arms industry, no advanced weapons and many units can't even spare a rifle between three men and at that crap copies of old German Ge-88s that broke the reciever after firing three rounds: just as well they could afford no more than five rounds per rifle. It was THIS army that when EVERYBODY else was getting kicked that managed to deliver the only allied victory in the Asia-Pacific at this time in Changsha Jan-42. I dont need to say any more.

  • @Whatever38458 the only victory in the pacific? the may have had the first victory, but your obviously missing the battle of peleliu, iwo jima, and okinawa. the we nuked the fuck outa em.

  • @amdsoccer94 Couldn't have done it without China who tied up 85-90% of Japan's Army dude

  • @amdsoccer94 when was Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa? I meant from Pearl Harbour to Midway so from Dec 7th 41-June 4th 42.

  • @Whatever38458 i forgot about midway! its an early war victory too, and we destroyed their fleet there and after that it was all down hill for them.

  • @amdsoccer94 what about between Pearl and Midway? Had it not been for China you guys would't have survived for long enough to win Midway anyway.

  • @Whatever38458 are you serious?? that was just a few months. they couldnt have defeated us in a few months. they tried to invade the alutian islands in alaska and failed there too. china did a lot, but not as much as us.

  • The Americans lost most of their Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour on the 7th December, three days later Japan destroyed the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse in Singapore. Same day, the US lost Guam. On Dec 23rd, Wake met the same fate two days before Hong Kong fell. On New Year's day 1942 Manila fell which eventually condemned 75,000 US soldiers to the Bataan Death March five months later. Japan did that in a space of 6 months with only 15% of their army cos the rest was in China.

  • @Whatever38458 oh yea and not forgetting Malay and Singapore

  • @amdsoccer94 Now inmagine what they'd have done with 100% of their army in late 41-early 42?

  • @amdsoccer94 I'm not Anti-American nor do I have anything against the US or American people but what you must realise is that it was a joint effort not a sole US effort. Roosevelt said to his son after the Cairo Conference 1943: "If those several million Japanese soldiers are not tied down in China then Japan would use them to conquer Australia, India, then into Persia and Arabia and link up with German forces in the Soviet Union and North Africa, the result of this war cannot be imagined."

  • @Whatever38458 God rules history N none of a soul can

    move an inch, man.

  • @amdsoccer94 goes to show it ws a joint effort, not just Americans in the war you gotta start looking at other people's contributions too. Oh and bear in mind whilst America entered the war in Dec-41, China was the first to fight: we started fighting Japan from as early as July-37. By the time you guys joined the war we've already been fighting for four years.

  • @Whatever38458 i know china was the first to fight, but they had made little progress until we entered the war.

  • @amdsoccer94 Progress or not we still did a lot more fighting. even Roosevelt said so.

  • @Whatever38458 just because you did more fighting doesnt mean you did more to win the war.

  • @amdsoccer94 Yes it does. We held'em by the nose you kicked'em in the ass We couldve won without American intervention America would've lost within a few months of hostilities without us

  • @amdsoccer94

Your progress was inspired by the Jap bombing of Pearl Harbor and the successful recruitment of the German scientist Albert Einstein.

  • @SeventhSun we were angered and began fighting for revenge after pearl harbor, but einstien pretty much moved to america out of his own free will to escape the nazis.

  • @amdsoccer94

I wonder why the US didn't intervene in the first place which might have prevent World War 2 erupting.

  • @marshall9doom cause we didnt want to start a fucking war...

  • @amdsoccer94

I find that hard to believe. Although the American people aren't warmongers, their leaders are. Territorial, economical and influential domination will be ensured if the Allies win the war, true enough the results are apparent today. I'm not saying it is wrong for the US to join in the war, I'm just saying that there are pro's and con's to the US's agendas. The same goes to Imperial Japan.

  • @marshall9doom so your saying we pearl harbored ourselves?

  • @amdsoccer94

I meant, its because of Pearl Harbour the US went to war and use this very reason to perpetuate the war and excuse to pacify Japan.

    Another good example:

The Iraq War. Liberated the people, but it's original agenda to destroy the allegedly known "Weapons of Mass Destruction" which became nothing more than a farce instead changes into the acquisition of Oil companies.

  • @marshall9doom so we used the obvious attack on our own ships which killed thousands to "perpetuate" the war? no. they attacked and we counter attacked

  • @amdsoccer94

I doubt you understand what am I trying to imply here. Pearl Harbour was the catalyst. The Empire of Japan was foolish enough to attack Pearl Harbour, thus sealing their fate. The US on the other hand, was searching for good reasons to join in the war "legitimate" and "protagonistically" way.

  • @marshall9doom i dont see how we would profit from spending millions on 3 years of war

  • @amdsoccer94

The correct word is not we, but they. Obviously, the people, victors or losers, usually never profit anything from war. Millions are spent indeed, but this is possible through the contribution of the people, and not the governing elites.

  • @amdsoccer94

Hard to fight beat an enemy, without food or weapons, but they still put up all the resistance they could. Show some damm respect.

  • @07090614 thank god somebody agrees with me!!!

  • That's not what they did...they were a gateway for spirits not a resting place for birds o_O proves how much the western people changed other people's beliefs to sound more 'white cultured'

  • Good old time in japan. That time was the best time for japanese i think. After we lost WWII Americans came reconstructed and changed everything in the good and bad way.

  • @wakabaw

LOL. you are a freaking idiot. at that time Japanese were killing, enslaving, and raping countless innocent people in Asia. still you say it was the best time for japan? Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, Soviet Union. 20th century's top 3 evil nations.

  • Comment removed

  • @scorea2010

ahh i think u misunderstand me. i was saying that the BEFORE the WWII was the best time at least for Japanese people. I know we killed many people during WWII and i'm ashamed. My grandma told me how beautiful japan used to be before the war. So we all regret about the war.

  • @scorea2010

    You are absolutely right.

NOW your friend north korea is the worst evil in the world.

How many certain sacrifice do you want devote?

  • Tellm who exactly did the Imperial Japanese military killed, raped, and enslaved in Asia? The Great Britain, Netherlands, France, and Russia were the worst evils.

  • @bystanderTokyo

I remember you said "going for white women was like screwing dogs and horses" on Jan.27, 2010. Are you going to deny you said this or not ?

  • @scorea2010 I think what he meant was it was the time when Japan was most powerful. Japan never been as powerful as it was before or since

  • @wakabaw well then you shouldnt have started a war.

  • @amdsoccer94 Stop defending USA Ur country killed millions of innocent lives too til RECENT u have no right to say shit to Japan. Fuck American Patriots

  • Interesting that this footage was produced during the time that Japan invaded Manchuria. What a contrast..

  • watch?v=16IVkiVQut8

Perhaps this video makes a help of us to feel the contrast.

  • Rights and interests of full state are the one having inherited it in the war against Russia.

    China also approved.

Why did the army in China obstruct Japan though Japan and China made a treaty?

  • After watching these videos I've realized that Japan and many other places used to be so beautiful and culturally strong. These days Japan is more like America and Europe in so many ways, as vinniram said, it's sad

  • Nonsense generalization really. Those who parrot that all day long don't really know what they are talking about.

  • yes i do know what I'm talking about

    shutup
