Yeah, I don't get it. What is behind all the hype about this guy? There are so many other funk/r&b drummers past and present that completely smoke this dude. Don't get me wrong: he's a very good player, but just in no way among the top tier of drumming talent.

@ckbarber what the other dude said. That and ?uest's technique is ridiculous. He was one of the innovators of hip hop drumming, But besides that, he's also pretty much the mastermind behind the Roots and an incredible producer.
There are definitely guys like Tony Royster Jr. who might be more raw with their drumming and are better in certain aspects, but there's also more to drumming and musicianship in general than raw energy.
The entire band is so insanely talented, yet they exercise so much restraint on their recordings and understand that the groove is more important than showing off how good they are. You gotta love that!
@genghisconnor08 you clearly don't know drummers, bro. Just cause he plays along to some of your favorite hip hop beats and is the only drummer who gets publicity , other than Travis Barker, does NOT mean he's the best today. look up Matt Tong from Bloc Party or Carter Beauford.
