While the ZX14 is truly a beast, it never has "smoked the Hayabusa like nothing". That's an uneducated statement probably made by a kid. In a recent test (Cycle World May08) The Hayabusa was actually quicker in the 1/4 had almost 10 more horsepower and a little more torque. The numbers are so close however that it could have been operator error and mechanical error so they are actually almost identical performers. A stock ZX14 would never "smoke" a Hayabusa and vice versa.

The Kawi and the 'Busa are very comparable bikes. I read that article and where there are subtle differences, the 'Busa typically comes out ahead. But as close as those two machines are in performance, it doesn't matter. The rider will be the differentiating factor.

Well it is a newer law I believe, I tried looking for it (no I didn't look very hard) but I remember reading it in one of my magazines. It's not to say that you can remove the governers from them, but how ever it does now create the challenge of who can get there first :P

Yep you're right, I believe the restriction came about in 2001?? I think the 2K model is also unrestricted. I agree with you on the "getting there" issue as well. With a 186 mph restriction top speed as a moot point, it's 1/8th and 1/4 mile times now at the top of the list huh.

This was my second day at a race track - I was dragging my knee my first day. And its not like I'm an experienced rider - this is only my second season.

I don't know where the 'Busa got its rap for being hard to handle. That track (Grattan Raceway) is one of the most technical tracks in the country - blind turns, tight 4 turn s section, 160 degree hairpin turn, downhill off camber turn.

The 'Busa handled it easily.
