There is no need to trash an artist's style just because you don't agree with other opiinions. I have an EXCELLENT ear for music & Freddy was without a doubt one of the very best.

Freddy sang this song far better than Marty Robbins even if he did write it. Writing and singing are two different things! Not all sang their own songs they wrote and Freddy adds that unique Mexican flavour. He's the best.

Angeleyes990 Freddie died 2006, he had lots of health problems, a kidney transplant donated by his daughter and also a liver transplant. He is missed.

Yes you're right about Marty writing the song and I admire him as well as a singer. But to my mind Freddy Fender with his unique style of singing belts out the song in a better fashion than Marty Robbins.
