so i saw a commercial for UNICEF today, telling me that for only 50 cents a day i could feed a starving child in third world country. the commercial was filled with sad pictures of children in obvious need. so i called and i learned that NOT ONE CENT of my money would be spent on contraception, family planning, or financial education. SHAME ON YOU UNICEF! for asking good people to participate in your condoning and support of these people's irresponsible and abhorrent behavior!!!

I would love to do this and help these people because i feel like im very fortunate to have such a great life and I want to help others who dont have the same thing, but I have no idea how to do it and I dont want to donate money to some charity because i dont really know where the money goes. And I dont think in our country their is much poverty. I would really like to help the people over there. But they say you need experience in that business and I dont have it unfortunately. I thought any help would be ok but seems like you need a bunch of stuff to be able to volunteer and I think thats not good.

Check your local food bank, homeless shelter, abused women's shelter, soup kitchen, school food programs, seniors. If you are willing there are people that need your help! It truly is alarming the number of children in Canada and the US that go to school without breakfast and have nothing for lunch.

So basically im a babysitter...Thats not what im looking for. I really want to make a difference if you know what i mean. I am personally unable to go to help so I do what I am able with organizations like Kiva providing micro loans and supporting akonye kena dot com. I personally know Richard who started Akonye kena and he did it because he also wanted to make sure help got into the hands that needed it but also to teach them trades so they are no longer dependent. People in need all over want a hand up not a hand out.

And I dont think in our country their is much poverty. I would really like to help the people over there. But they say you need experience in that business and I dont have it unfortunately. I thought any help would be ok but seems like you need a bunch of stuff to be able to volunteer and I think thats not good.

Check your local food bank, homeless shelter, abused women's shelter, soup kitchen, school food programs, seniors. If you are willing there are people that need your help! It truly is alarming the number of children in Canada and the US that go to school without breakfast and have nothing for lunch.

So basically im a babysitter...Thats not what im looking for. I really want to make a difference if you know what i mean. Im also saving some money each month that I want to spend for homeless people in my country. But beside that I want to volunteer in afrika but its very pricey and I have no idea why. Thought they would be happy with a helping hand

I am personally unable to go to help so I do what I am able with organizations like Kiva providing micro loans and supporting akonye kena dot com. I personally know Richard who started Akonye kena and he did it because he also wanted to make sure help got into the hands that needed it but also to teach them trades so they are no longer dependent. People in need all over want a hand up not a hand out.

Google "Humanitarian volunteer groups or Organizations" theres a couple anyone can unite with 2 weeks a year and itl never interrupt ones agenda or habits. They dont only need medical staff, they also want teachers, constructors, any thing anyone can do is good. Check it out...

They dont need money. It never gets to them. They need groups of people to go n help. Help plant fruits n vegetables, help them pick up, teach them somethings, Take materials to help teach them to pick up n save themselves. Ones a year just go for 2-3 weeks n help a location. Im planning to go when I get Paramedic certified, hopefully work w/ a Dr n nurse team.

I'm a personal fan of KIVA where you can lend money (typically in $25 increments) to people in developing nations who are working hard to start a small business to support their family. Loans in third world nations are mostly done by loan sharks with crazy interest. Check them out - it's really cool!
