If anyone has a problem with security they are to speak to he owner of the company. That includes the media. I am not allowed to speak with the media. If the media has any questions they must speak to the owner of the company.
One last thing kids. Security is changing. We have to get licensed.We have to get a criminal background check. We are supposed to be able to carry handcuffs soon. Many companies and guards are demanding professionalism. I am asking the Justice institute to make it possible that all guards have to be drug tested. We are no the security guards of the past.

In my opinion the whole security industry in Canada is a complete joke. Security doesn't get paid well enough at all. No benefits and no job security.
I will admit that 75% of the security guards are loser. The thing is that who else would work for such low ages and have no benefits and no job protection? Also when we are sent to sites almost everyone somehow thinks that they are above us even though we are there to protect them and their property until the police show up a 1/2 hour latter. We are expected to defuse situations and contain a person until the police show up. Talk to guards that work at a hospital. It is an insane situation.
By law we have no more power then the average person and yet we are expected to deal with situation that are similar to what the police deal with. We deal with alcoholic, drug addicts, mentally ill people and thieves. In Canada security guards have been beaten up, killed and stuck with a dirty needle and getting HIV/AIDS.
When we are on site we are not allowed to leave and we are supposed to protect the people and property on the site we are sent to. We are supposed to be in authority while on duty and yet told we have no more power then the average citizen.What a fuckin joke. All we get is a cell phone. No handcuffs or baton.

I am a security guard and it pisses me off when kids skateboard and I ask them to stop and carry it. Also I would bust you camera or cell phone. Typically it is company policy that we are not allowed to have our pictures taken or be filmed or be in the media. I would love to drop a stick in front of a skateboarder and make him wipe out. We are dealing with a aging population. You could hit an elderly person and knock them down and that would cause a broken hip and then death.

some of them are complete tools that abuse there power but i know there are some that are genuine and know how to handle situations...all the fucks that don't just expect people to listen and a lot do but if you want results just talk to them like there your equal ppl dont' like being told what to do

I will admit that 75% of the security guards are loser. The thing is that who else would work for such low ages and have no benefits and no job protection? Also when we are sent to sites almost everyone somehow thinks that they are above us even though we are there to protect them and their property until the police show up a 1/2 hour latter. We are expected to defuse situations and contain a person until the police show up. Talk to guards that work at a hospital. It is an insane situation.

By law we have no more power then the average person and yet we are expected to deal with situation that are similar to what the police deal with. We deal with alcoholic, drug addicts, mentally ill people and thieves. In Canada security guards have been beaten up, killed and stuck with a dirty needle and getting HIV/AIDS.

When we are on site we are not allowed to leave and we are supposed to protect the people and property on the site we are sent to. We are supposed to be in authority while on duty and yet told we have no more power then the average citizen.What a fuckin joke. All we get is a cell phone. No handcuffs or baton.

In the three years I have done security I haven't had any altercations. I have had people threaten me and call me lots of names. I have had people refuse to listen to me or act as if I wasn't there and knowingly break the rules. We often times deal with people that have HIV/AIDS, Hep C, MRSA etc.

In all honesty I wouldn't even tell my worst enemy to do security guard work. Security in Canada is an absolute joke. If I was in charge I would revamp the whole security industry.I would make a nation wide standard that has to be followed by law. Right now the security industry uses a standard that was set back in the 1950's and now we are in 2009.I would set the bar way higher. Basically security guards should get similar training of RCMP.

I'm much better at talking then writing.Canadians should know how much of a joke security is and take it seriously in a post 9/11 world. The bar needs to be set higher when it comes to security. People doing security guard work should be better educated, physically fit and trained far better. Also security guards should be paid better and have job security and benefits.

I think that the main reason I stood up for this guy a little bit is because because I know how we are treat sometimes by people out there. I had a teen at the hospital try to provoke me into a fight with him. He was belligerent with the RCMP officer that brought him in. He was belligerent with the medical staff and he was the same way with me. He seriously wanted me to fight him.He threatened me and called me every name in the book. I laughed at him.

Of course know what it is. You laugh at the security guard. HAHAAHAHA. Right? You have the young offenders act on your side. You are not even afraid of the RCMP anymore because as long as you are a young offender no one can do anything. You don't have to listen to your teacher or you parents. In a couple of months when we can carry handcuffs will you laugh at security and ignore us? My guess is yes because you don't have to listen to anyone.

I am a security guard and it pisses me off when kids skateboard and I ask them to stop and carry it. Also I would bust you camera or cell phone. Typically it is company policy that we are not allowed to have our pictures taken or be filmed or be in the media. I would love to drop a stick in front of a skateboarder and make him wipe out. We are dealing with a aging population. You could hit an elderly person and knock them down and that would cause a broken hip and then death.
