well if you thinks its a gasoline engine you must drive yours with no oil so the pistons clank like that...this is no gasoline hummer, its an H1 diesel.
I am betting that it doesn't meet NFPA lighting standars. It should have alot more warning power then it does. But it is a nice looking rig! Wish we had one,
@BostonUrbEx out where I am. we don't take an 1 3/4 attack line off the engine and fight a bursh fire, unless it is right on the side of the road. They are too heavy to be hauling up and down hills and through the woods
I would assume that this isn't as expensive as you may think... and the vehicle shown isn't a hummer (at least not stock anyways) to my knowledge the hummer didn't have a desiel engine untill late 09 ( this was posted in 08)... this may have been a surplus humvee... even so comparing a hummer to some other types of (even itilities) their isn't that much a price difference....
@rwslippy, That's not a "hummer" that's an HMMWV (Humvee) or an High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle.Though engineered by AmGeneral (jeep/AMC) , GM manufactured the body and Ford/Navistar supplied the chassis and drivetrain. The "Hummer" is a complete (and wholly useless) overpriced GM product. What you see here is a 1996 M1114 as the the 1985 M998 was NEVER declassified for civilian use.
@tubesteakdynamo Well for the most part that was the point I was trying to make... Oh and I completly agree regarding the Hummer and it being usless... unless you like paying outragous gas prices??? my ideal would be a stop Humvee (replacing the cushions (try a 4 hour ride on them) with something more substainable and a few winches and hit the mud but the play budget aint that big so... dreams will have to do..
@Rwslippy, Oh I know, the M1151 drove in AFG was disgustingly uncomfortable...and 4 hours??? Are you kidding me? I wish!!
Truthfully the'00 Ford 550 Maverick and the 650 Super-Crew FAR out outperform the 1979 technology AmGeneral HumVee , but politics, palm greasing and cocksucking killed those contracts.
@patchcords, It;s a BRUSH TRUCK not an Incident Responder, No need for rear light when you're off road and IN THE FRICKIN WOODS. Only need lights to move people out of the way til get to the bush..
How the fuck would you become "isolated"? It's a brush pumper, one guy driving and one guy spraying. The only time one leaves the truck is if he's holding a flippin hose, and he sure as fuck wouldn't get out if the visibility were nil. Don't open your mouth if you don't know what you're talking about.
@Ultraussie i understand what you mean and that can be true but some people like 2 think they know everything and like 2 try and belittle people by calling them names hey tube
@tubesteakdynamo ah yes but in saying that bushtrucks also fight grass fires and stuff on the side of the road if there needed so they could do with lights on the back
@PaulieMac77 Brushtrucks do NOT need rear lights. If a fire were impeding on an active roadway said roadway would be closed to non emergency traffic. That's just the way it is. Besides, Brushpumpers would never be dispatched solo to a public road, anything accessible by public road would be served by a full size rig.
I understand that little fireman billy types who never grow up LOVE some pretty pretty lights all over the place but us grown ups are in it for the job not the flashy-noisy.
@tubesteakdynamo rear flashing lights here are recommended. Actually, they may be required here. We have strobes on the side and rear of our brush, as does cal fire, USFS, LA Co. and all of the places I can think of here. So, before you go out and say that, don't brush trucks still respond through traffic? Yes, and brush trucks may be used as a spare rig as well to a TC or otherwise.
@PalaFDExplorer, Sure they respond through traffic, but they don't do it backwards son. In California, an emergency Vehicle is classified as "having at least one FORWARD facing lighted red lamp". Brush vehicles are not incident responders in CA, CA has odd regs on equipment, lighting and whatnot. You can outfit a brush vehicle to respond to human emergency, but you'd have to have the CHP reclassify it as a Light Rescue Vehicle.
@tubesteakdynamo , As for 360 degrees of visibility, CA brush vehicles satisfy that by turning on the vehicle's own 4-way flashers. Now don't go coming back at me with all that stuff about the hummer not being a CA rig. I'm aware of that, that being said...Don't you think if THAT Hummer is allowed to have it's Fire Department's name on the side, it would meet all the DOT regulation for the area it's in? Hmm? Clearly it's not required, OR IT WOULD HAVE THEM.
@tubesteakdynamo Do you know what strobes are even used for? lol. Anyways, while you keep talking, we have our brush as an ALS, same with Cal Fire. We use it if the engine's out on a call somewhere else. And yes, all brushes here in so cal, that i've seen working a fire have strobes. What station here in CA has a brush engine without strobes? Oh yes, AND THAT'S FOR A DIFFERENT AREA! By the way, rear strobes are used to alert VEHICLES FORTHCOMING that there is an emergency vehicle there.
@PalaFDExplorer , Explorers are so cute when they think they know what they're talking about. You get a pass cause you're just a baby, but pull that know it all junk as a probie you'll get put in place. I learned the hard way zip it up when grown folks are talking, wish I could be there to see you get yours. Anyway sweetiepie, I was a snotnose myself once, you'll learn.
@tubesteakdynamo Thanks for that pass, I'm sorry, lol. Look, all I'm saying is, down here, we've got strobes on our brush, okay? I know when to zip it up by the way. And you'll learn that I'm not a snot nose. I put a hell of a lot of effort into everything I do, and I don't talk back to the chief or any other person, you don't think I've learned that?
@PalaFDExplorer As a point of Humor, I'd like to show that you're talking back in order to say that you don't backtalk!?! :D
Anyway, point is there is a difference between regulations and recommendations. I'll agree, sometimes minimum requirements are not always the safest choice for all situations. Matter fact, if that were my Hummer I'd put an Amber rotator in the left rear where it belongs...even if it's not required. Just doesn't look right without it.
@tubesteakdynamo I don't feel like going any further with any of this. It's a sick hummer. Very nice, I'm tired of everyone arguing out nonsense on this, hell, i did a lot of it, so I'm sorry. okay?
@PalaFDExplorer, no need to be sorry. You didn't do anything wrong. We need MORE young people like you willing to fight for the safety of our American Servicemen. This March I only took in two new Explorers. Pitiful. Keep up the good work, treat every situation as an opportunity to learn and always pass on your knowledge to the younger men. Stay safe.
@tubesteakdynamo Haha, I fucked up arguing, it just seems so normal that brush trucks have the strobes. We've only got like. 9 explorers, and a new person in charge. Last guys were lenient, so now that I'm in, I'm just trying to see if we can get more training in and certain changes, because we've done 3 fundraisers and only 2 trainings in the last 2 months. I don't think that's how it should go, because I almost joined Cal Fire and their program. I'll pass on what I've learned, Stay safe too!
@tubesteakdynamo yes u make a good point but all the vids ive watched with brush/bush units in them they have all had some sort of lights on the back and anyway i dont see why your treating people like there thick for having there say about this video ( meaning the they respond through traffic but they dont do it backwards bit and the comment you left on one of my comments )
@Ultraussie it actually does have lights in back, they're at the top of the box, but they blend in very well with the red paint job. Best view at 0:27
@Ultraussie Kinda weird. Our department's Humvee has the original military style to it since it's surplus, ours has lights everywhere I think. I'll have to check next week when I go again.
Probably separate a two stroke. Trucks like these are normally used for grass fires and such, and don't hold or pump a lot of water. I'm thinking that this is a privately owned vehicle, as I believe I saw it in another video where they were jumping through snow with it.
what are it stats?
