  • OK, this song is soooo cool on so many levels. It is a really great expression of the inner conflict described in Romans 7. And your funky melody and slightly dissonant jazzy licks remind me of the seamy side of New Orleans. And the video is just perfectly disturbing. How did you move that light around? Did you do it with your foot or did you have an assistant? This was just terrific.

  • How the heck did I miss this? Superb.

  • Yes, how the heck? LOl thanks

  • AWESOME!

  • Thank you, Leslie!

  • excellent lyrics!.... I love the minimalist look of the video, it really works well with the feel of the song itself.... And I love the rippin' solos!.... great job!

  • Mahalo! Still working on a coffee song....! It's a bit more cheery than this one.

  • very well done and very enjoyable. Definitely worth watching again.

  • Best compliment I could get - Thank you!

  • Well done! Restless and hearty.

  • Thank you, me hearty!

  • Alan, that was just fabulous. I agree with benmealer, creepy but in a really good way. I loved the video, the clicking in the background and the light that came across your face at around 2:35 too. Spot on! I always know I'm in for a treat when I see one of your videos in my subscription notices :)

  • Thank you for such a great comment. I look forward to your vids, so precious and rare as they are ; )

  • Spoooooky.

Man this is seriously one of if not your best vocal performance.

  • I wuz inzpired. Thx, you were my inspiration for this one.

  • Oooh! I love the shadow in the video. It gives a real haunting feeling to the song. It really sets the mood well, and the song is wonderful!

  • I must point out that this is a "green" video - I used a CFL bulb in the lamp. Thanks, Michelle!

  • brilliizzzziant. love it

sounds like an Angelo Badalamenti track

  • Bada-bing thankzzzzzzzzz!

  • Nice beat. Thumbs up. 1) How are you able to pick so well with such short fingernails? 2) How did you get E.T.'s shadow on the wall?

  • Thanks,1) Don't know - I just use the ends of my fingers. 2) He worked for free phone use. But the bill, OMG!

  • Exquisite

Love to see those limitz pusht

  • Many thanks, B!

  • That solo was more than cool!

Your song was both complicated and simple at the same time. Great job!

  • I'm both simple and simple. Thank you!

  • This is wonderful, I can see the Waits influence in this one!

  • Yah, I must confess, Waits is alllll over this one.

  • Great song, creepy shadows, It all goes together well.

  • Many thanks, sir!

  • Wonderful song and video! Its amazing what can be done with what is around. Way to let your imagination goooo!

  • Merci!

  • Great song and great creepy vid! Is that the Martin SO you're using? I've always liked (but never played) those little things, no matter what people say about them.

  • CREEEPIEE! Thanks! Yes, an S-O with low-g. It was my very first uke and despite being overpriced (in my opinion) it's a great uke.

  • nice

  • I was afraid you wouldn't find the humor in that comment...so here is more commenting. I love the shadow work...great idea..very creative. but I think you didnt reveal all of the instruments used. What were you using for percussion...the tapping....I liked it. I am always looking for ideas since I have no original thoughts.

  • hehe. It was Casio keyboard. I thought it sounded pretty cheezy while recording it, but sounds much better in the final video. The tapping was the percussion setting and the key dedicated to the wood sticks. whatever they're called.

  • Castinets? ok, i might be making that up...but i think its something like that.

  • si .

  • UKI-Noir! Me loves it!

That baseline was snazzy... love this song!

  • Many mahalozzz brudda! I have you to thank for getting me onto this theme.

  • That had a bad Barton Fink vibe to it.

  • The reason I was looking left to right and back was because the walls began oozing puss.

  • Keep your eyes peeled ( that must be so painful ) for a fat guy with a can of kerosene

  • great job

  • thank you

  • 2:10 bend it like alanham!

    great shadow effectzzzz

  • teh funneh. I thought of the same thing when playing it.

    The ham part, i mean.

Shouldve thrown in some hand shadow puppetz.

  • Excellent and apparently filmed by an alien grey no less!

  • Ha! I think it was Erin Gray!

  • This is great, man. What gave you the idea to film only from the nose up? Haha! I really like this tune, it should be sung in seedy bars with an out-of-tune piano by drunk femme fatale. The solo is bad-ass!

  • I wanted to show off the hat. : )

Thank you so, seeso! I hope to learn soloing a bit better soon. That was just all improv and good luck - after 8 takes!

  • great video. sorry if i've missed any of your recent ones - i'm catching up on a weeks worth of youtube subscriptions and unfortunately i'm doing it in alphabetical order :P loved those little pieces of percussion - did you use the casio for that too?

  • Yep, the Casio. Just kept hitting the wood sticks key in a random fashion and thought it came out pretty neat. Thanks!

alphabetically, huh. Maybe I should have called my YT channel AAAUkisociety.!

  • Not only was that an awesome song and wonderfully performed...but the video was captivating. Very artistic.

  • Thanks so! And it was on the cheap, too! :D

  • Hauntingly beautiful.

  • It was kind of an experiment for me - I'm glad you think it worked. Thank you!

  • truly awesum!

    : )

    p.

  • Awe, thanks! ; )

  • Original in every sense of the word. I think it's so cool that you can make us watch just your eyes and a shadow (and that great hat!) and make that really captivating. Sometimes it's better to take things away, to strip things bare. Really entertaining, Alan!

  • The imagination of economy-Great comment, Don, thank you!

  • Super ! Melancholisch end feeling still k aus PL ;Bravo Uki!

5 Star for You! Thank :-)

  • Mucho danke!

  • Freakin you are a pimp man!!

  • The words you use are strange to me but I like them. :D

  • Most gracious - Thanks!!

  • Excellent!

    Reminiscent of Tom Waits.

  • I've been listening to Tom lately, can you tell? :D Thank you!!

  • Awesomeness. Makes me think of a smokey speakeasy. Nice look, great solo, too!

  • Thanks, thanks and thanks!

  • Great!

  • Rockin' thanks!

  • Cool video. Cool song. Cool solo too. Are you playing a bass or is that an effect?

  • Casio keyboard. Thanks, Deach!

  • first! when i come over to your house can i make a video in front of that wall... please....

the shadow is so cool how it moves... and your hat looks like the guy in curious gorge.. martin uke?

    nice..

  • you're either up way too late or way too early! Yes, it's my Martin S-O. Thanks, george!

  • it is 3am here.. ummm my woman is away..
