lol.. I bought a 8hp Evinrude 2 stroke years ago.. He said it was about time I put a water pump in it when I bought it. I have owned it now for 5 years lol still haven't changed it. It is still pumping out water hard.. lol
Nice video Not to be a critic but it would be better to run the motor in a garbage can or barrel to insure it's pumping proper . By using a hose you are forcing the water in. Rather then allowing the pump to do the work.
It was very helpful, when I turned on the engine with the water running, I heard a humming noise and didn't see water coming out of the top. (I have a '94 9.9 and it seemed to be the same) anyway, I did it again, but my engine didn't start this time, maybe because my gas tank had old oil, like 6 mo old, even though I put a somekind of additive. why it won't start? does it have to do at all with this changing of the water pump? thanks.
@fpbriseno water pump doesnt have anything whit ur carburator or ur gas before u put away ur boat make sure to burn all the gas that u has on the carburator. You may have to take down the carburator and cleand up well.
@Dugrop There is a dimple at the top and if it gets filled with grease won't have anywhere to go and the lower unit will not be able side all the way in.
First off, that girl in the beginning is very beautiful. Second of all, this video was really informative, exactly what i was looking for. Just one question. I have a Honda 50 hp outboard motor from 1998 and i have never changed the impeller since i bought it.
Allthough it works great i am a little bit worried that it might needs to be replaced immediately.
thanks for posting this vid .Fantastic., i felt confident enough to do my own 25hp yamaha 2 stroke after watching this .Saved a lot of cash .Still no water though from the teltail.Have been told could be thermostat is stuck. Can anyone advise ? thanks again.
Thank you for the kind words! It could be a stuck thermostat or possibly the tell-tale discharge tube is clogged. Sometime wasp will build a dirt nest and block the hole. Disconnect the hose from the discharge nozzle on the inside of the engine cowling, Use a wire or coat hanger to clear the port if clogged. Good Luck!
@JamestownTV Have looked at the thermostat looks a bit old and i will replace it .Have cleaned it in boiling water . I have sorted the problem by giving the tell tale rubber hose a little puff with the comperessed air line. Not sure if this is the correct thing to do but it engine is running great and pumping water really well again. Thanks again for your cool video it has saved me loads .Have also done the wheel bearings on the trailer too,a right little engineer am i !!!!! lol .thanks .
new to y-tube who cares about the lady blinking it's the sun maybe but very helpful video because i have the same model outboard and will be doing the water pump next month.Cheers and thanks
But she forgot to tell u, if put the robber impeler on the opposite way or direction u will damage and over heat it the engine really soon.

@plm947 True, but doing it that way is far better than not doing it all. I have always ran mine in a garbage pale though..

Is the procedure the same on a 2002 15 HP Yamaha 4 stroke?
aquaholiklee 11 months ago
Is possible that the first step that you explain on 25 HP motor , this is deleted on 4 stroke motor 50HP ?
The following steps are clear to me.

Can you give me a similar kind, but with a 50HP 4 stroke engine
oscarpescador 1 year ago
@oscarpescador If we get the chance, we definitely will! The process will likely be very similar.
