You have to take in account how fast you learn and catagorize your opponents playing style , Frame data , your own fighting style and being able to tweak after 1 round. And How fast your reaction time is and how fast you can procces what to do next. SOme people naturally progress faster with the mental skills.

You Learn as you proggress as a Vega player that what you can do in the training room goes out the window in a real fight against high level opponents. So you can see, some one do every combo in training room . But in real fight , MIss alot of of links becuase of split second reaction times. On the other hand One person may not do so well with combos as perfect in training room , But land way more difficult combos in a real fight. IN real battle its a whole diffrent skill.

@kingyankee23 So obivously I didn`t prove much from our fights but keep in mind that that was a 3 bar connection. i tried most combos and it`s too hard in that scenario for me to care about doing them.

for the record, the worst they get is 1 frame links. Yes there are several in some combos but keep in mind some did take me several hours to do right. Plus there are some weird spacing ones, but they are not hard to replicate.

IF I wanted to do meaty RCF`s to combo into wack shit, I`d need TA.

Also when you are jumping in to do a combo with a jumping high kick you have a farther reach. the list goes on and on. So many things to do with Vega. Vega has very high ammount of potential but his timing is so strict some players are going to learn faster than others to Harness Vega's timing and do some Whup Ass Vega style,in real matches against high level players. The best Whup Ass IN SF 4 Hands down. All I can say IS Practice ! Practice ! Practice! And MOre practice. For Many months!

Another thing Vega players don 't do enough is they dont use there low standing kick enough . And Vega players , when they are jumping in to do there combo they always start of with the Punch/ claw hit instead of kick wich is not good. The jumping into low kick you get in very fast combo and throws off the opponents timing to block. Alot of little details I have learned that I don't see Vega players useing.

yeah doing the low scarlet terror and combing into the ex scarlet terror adds up to about the same ammount of dammAGE as if you just only did the high kick scarlet terror. rESAON BEING DOING THE COMBO you still only hit 2 times compared to doing the high kick scarlet terror also hits 2 times. The combo just looks fancy is all. I notice alot of High level Vega players Have a hard time getting in 6 to8 hit combo's in real matches. I've finally gotten to that point.

@ManowarHeigou The RCF combos are not likely to happen in most matches. I can usually get roundhouse, but c. jabs are very difficult and I don't often hit them consistently. The redundant links like st. lk x 3, c. fierce also very hard. The easier ones are pretty much the beginning one, that one on Sagat with 2 CH's is easy and the rest are all really difficult. Extremely hard: linking a c. jab into an EX ST (not cancelling like normal).

Vega is my main SF character. Can you do a combo of a level 3 focus attack, cosmic heel, crouching medium punch, ex flying barcelona attack, and izuna drop? I can complete it, but I can't combo it. Combo time stops after crouching mp.

@Efurain ya you can't combo anything after the c.mp, the cosmic heel puts them into a free juggle state where you can hit with anytihng but unless you hit with another move like EX FBA or another cosmic heel anything you hit with will simply reset them. you only get one hit worth of juggling.

Right now I'm trying to do jHP >sHP> cMP > EX FBA but the sHP is difficult to land 100% of the time and the cMP is even more difficult for me

hey man.., how do u get the character to go into a crumple state with the FADC on the light RCF. everytime time i do it the focus attack doesnt stun and if i hold it any longer he blocks - thanks

unfortunately, it needs to be counter hit. And it only works with the jab RCF - unless you're going to use the strong RCF from full screen and only hit with the claw. The counter hit only effects the hit it is used to counter hit with, meaning if you get a counter hit on a fierce RCF on its start up the claw slash will be unable to FADC into the crumple state as a combo. So it is highly situational, basically useless, but a flashy way to get combos started. Plus its hard to do.

ah ok, fair enuf. i was just thinking it wud b a gud way to set up for the ultra cuz i land the light RCF frequently. I can FA-dash-ultra, but i find it extremely difficult to land the FA on skilled opponents and i get punished badly jus for trying it so i dont bother trying it much anymore. I watched sum guy do a vid in reply 2urs and he land the ultra wen trading hits with the ST, that happens alot so wud this b a gud way to combo in2 the ultra or is it highly situational & character specific?

There are no good ultra combos. They're all situational and highly unreliable. the ONLY ultra combo I have come close to pulling off in a match is cosmic heel when Dhalsim does jump out fierce from fullscreen... you hit his arms, and you can combo into ultra as he's falling from so far away. Didn't get it to work but would have been cool.

I think it's like a 10% reduction? Something like that... without his mask he does 10% more damage, but takes 25% more damage.

@joztron well with Bloody High Claw, Vega hits the opponent multiple times with the claw normally, take into account the damage reduction, and you see why it does way less damage.

also, for example, an attack of his that does 90 damage normally does 80 without claw, and 88 without mask and claw (since it takes the 10 damage reduction into account first, then the added 10% for the mask loss). if it was a 10% reduction for the claw loss, then it would be 89 damage (90 to 81 to 89)

I use Vega. Now these combos are sick!! but since Vegas timing is so strict its not really worth doing too much and getting counter uppercuted. IMO this is the best combo 0:21-0:28. Shit is smooth

It's true what you say about Vega's timing being precise so as to be threatening to him more than others. However if you have confidence in your ability to combo, you'll find that Vega is one of the best characters when it comes to simply being able to "get" hits. He's a great punisher, and really when you think about it he does some of the most damaging single-ex-bar combos.

I am a big fan of 3s and CVS2 to me the problem with this game is that it's spam friendly. What I mean is that one mistake in a combo can lead to a uppercut 2 ultra, Messiah2 ultra or just a random ultra. And for Vega thats 50-60% damage and you better hope your mask isn't off or comes off during it.

I agree with you about the damage he can deal is ex wall dive more then ryu ex tatsu? But ryu can combo ultra from all his ex's. As much as I love Vega Ibuki and Dudley are going to replace him as soon as ssf4 comes out. I love my boi but Ibuki's my Ninja

it's true that as vega you can't make many mistakes.

EX Izuna Drop does 200 damage. more than any EX move in the game aside from Snake Strike and EX Headstomp. Some normal moves are almost as strong but I'm pretty sure Ryu's EX Tatsu isn't.
