  • Spectrum fail

  • Lost an Extra 300 the same way - With the exact same radio equipment...... Funny huh?

  • Nice flight but bad landing.

  • Thanks for that !

  • Did the Pilot survive? :P

  • thats a shame, all the hard work and money invested gone in the blink of an eye.

  • You guys have more money than brains!

  • 10.000 pounds? i guess its a matter of personal choice, to each his own. but thats the price of a new Ducati, or Triumph or Harley!

  • i know the problem.... SPEKTRUM

  • @2010Triton Ya, I saw a plane nearly go in this last summer do to a Spektrum problem. Then later the same day... one crash when the receiver became unbound.

  • should have built it from Nokia phones.

  • man this is pretty sad. R.I.P plane

  • que lastima! tan lindo avion

  • is it wrong to laugh, sucks for the owner though

  • How can you forget you're inverted?

  • Shame man... I can't imagine what that must feel like.

My condolences to you and your plane. =)

Remember, electronics get better EVERY day, so sometime soon, these sort of events won't be able to happen.

  • Tragic!

  • I gave up R/c when to replace the model's engine alone (after binning the aircraft) cost more than a new engine for my car! motor was at least 250mm into the ground.

  • i think he is wrong because he was fliying inverted look at 1.23 minute hes left hand is in the wrong move because he was inverted there not was the radio

  • @nanaboli If you notice he's trying to push down stick (trying to push the plane up).

  • That was a nice plane. Build a new one and love her just as much!

But I will say this, I will never fly 2.4ghz - never - have seen more crashes on 2.4 than I ever saw on 72mhz or now on UHF at 433mhz.

  • @scottturchin

Use JETI Duplex 2,4 and you'll never have problems with 2,4 GHz because of it's amazing telemetry alert. I saw alot problems with FASST too. In this case maybe it was a pilot failure.

  • @TheModellflieger I fly on UHF, 433mhz - no issues there, my video transmitter Xmits on 2.4ghz tho - couple of FPV vids on my channel...I have YET to see a turbine jet flown by fpv but it is my dream to do that someday...after I retire and have 100 acres LOL Gorgeous plane you had there!

  • Very Sad Regardless, of the hundreds of hours of input sacrificed.

At RC field in Netherlands, I had to dig down 6- 8" to find the engine.

100% my fault, but many others crashed in the same zone with zero control.

As if some beam of interference coming from that point in the ground.

Hopefully the source was found by now.

I'll make note of Spectrum for preference.

  • I feel for you dude!

  • I crashed my Trex 500 with a DX6i. From the moment I realized I was out of control, to the moment I started to regain control was about 4 or 5 seconds. Too late to save it, plus it was heading right for me. I was flying about 50 to 75 feet doing figure 8's. I know of at least one guy who insists on Futaba over Spektrum on that issue alone - that is the "reboot" time on Spektrum (for want of a better word) is too long. Autopsy on my heli revealed a tail servo that may have seized, RX brown out?

  • not to be trivial but at least you got it on film...THAT was a crash! We all to loose our planes and the time we put in but imagine if the camera man was not paying attention. This way you have a story and pic to prove it.

  • how many pilots were inside the model? RIP

  • he has a spektrum jumper lol

  • Looks like the proper stick input for inverted push out...bummer dude

  • i think the same the stick push out look minute 1.23 pause and check this is not a raidio failiture

  • @nanaboli

it appears the plane rolled inverted so forcing the stick to the top of the radio (push) as seen would cause the elevator to deflect upward because the bottom of the plane was on the top side and this would cause the nose to pitch up. I think its Spektrum FTL or servo failure, battery failure.

  • Nice aircraft! Flies very scale, too. Well, I mean "flew" very scale. Not much you can do, though, when signal is lost. Bummer!

  • Tragic. A lovely craft, flown with finesse.

  • I lost 4 aircraft on Futaba from signal lose in one years time finally switched to JR/Spectrum for the last five years and not so much as a glitch, Futaba is junk, stick with the Spectrum, something else caused that crash, not the radio

  • He must have more money than sence 10k! I like rc flying but i draw the line when it comes to thousands .

  • @Taildragger2411 This guy owns a chain of RC shops, he flies some pretty awsome planes at shows all over the uk, as a pr exercise its worth its weight, but even though he is minted, you can still see the dissapointment in his face... and if people like him didnt spend that kind of money, none of us would get to see them fly.. cheers

  • I don't care what the divorce papers say, that bitch is not getting my plane.

  • Shame he wasn't using Futaba

  • PUM! :(

  • DSM2 bites another beautiful plane!!!!

  • REAL LIFE PICTURES because the explosion looks like an real airplane!

  • 2:57 the total look of guttedness! I bet I looked like that when my Savage blew up and that was only a 10th of the cost of that beautiful plane!

  • @timepetsche good point i was refering my post to amarokuk. When flying mode 2 elevator is on the right stick. If this is the case i see him pushing foward ( the correct correction for inverted flight). But if he is flying mode 1 then i cannot comment.

  • if hes flying from the uk are the controls reversed elevator is on the left ?

  • @timpetsche no it was mode 2 i think indicating no throttle :D

  • his right thumb is pushing full forward (down) elevator!

  • @clr2cont Because the plane is flying upside down right before the impact. Elevator controls are reversed.

  • @clr2cont yes but he is raising the whole remote up ,,, thus giving the plane lift ,,no matter inverted or not :):)

  • If you look very carefully at Ali's right hand thumb on the transmitter, he has it set to full up elevator (set to climb) but unfortunately the Hunter is flying upside down so it went straight into the ground !!

  • @AmarokUK He lifted transmitter which is classic move when you lose signal, many spectrum users wave there tranny in the air like they just dont care

  • @AmarokUK up on an aircraft controller pushes the nose down during normal flight, i.e.; up during inverted flight

  • LOL!

  • Oh the Humanity!!!

  • A damn shame. Beautiful bird. Very impressive video work, though!

  • gave little piece defect in controlling the aircraft, more happens keep moving!

  • That's what happens when you give it an ugly paint job !!!

  • My credits to the photographer who got the stills. Either he has an astounding resolution video or lightnig reflexes to aim, zoom, focus and fire the multi frame switch when it mattered most. Fantastic work.

  • crash is at 1:23 for those not wanting to waste any time.

  • That turbine spooled down rather than being jarred to a sudden and damaging stop so there is a chance its still flight worthy. If so thats $2,000-$5,000 he will not have to replace.

  • Ahhh...He was using Spektrum gear...That explains a lot !

  • @sandsifter149 Yep biggest waste of money that crap is lol. Futaba all the way!!!!

  • Loss of radio contact?

Well, if you're gonna go.. Go in style & she certainly did!

  • oh my dear

  • sorry for your loss, but that crash still looked pretty cool ...

  • I've been flying for about 5 years, and have around 25 planes, from micro bind n flys to Hangar 9's The Beast in 120 cc and Extreme Flight 50 cc Yak. I've used a 9503 for the entire time, flying hundreds of hours, and never had so much as a brown out. If directions are followed, things work out fine. I'm thinking that it's hard to tell if something came loose and unplugged a servo, battery, etc, if your jet is in tiny pieces. The first thing anyone would think is that the transmitter lost

  • As much as I hate to see a beautiful model die and as much as I can sympathize with how Ali must have felt...it's still nice (well, not nice, but you know what I mean) to know that nobody is immune. If you fly RC you take it as a given that there is no guarantee that every flight will go well. The only certainty is that in an airplane vs. ground fight, ground wins every time.

  • what a fabulous model and what an awful shame, i cant imagine what that poor chap must have felt watching that happen.

  • That made me half sick watching it. As a rc pilot I have felt that feeling too many times. Beautiful plane Ali, sorry for you loss.

  • Beatiful model, flew very nicely. Sa

  • first of i have onlt seen ali fly spectrum gear and second i'm glad it does not hapen to us meir mortols i fly 2.4 it does have its flaws and you do need to be carefull how you set up your radio and be mindfull of grey outs make sure you have good batterys and set the radio antetenie correctly plain wise

  • All part of the hobby,,,,,thats why I stay with smaller planes, does'nt hurt that much.

  • Unlucky Al,That's RC flying for you..Sorry for your loss..

  • I used to fly JR and Spektrum and have had that sick feeling of a lock out myself.

A dirty little secret of 2.4 Ghz is signal shadowing - where the signal is blocked by RF unfriendly components such as batteries, avionics etc.

JR and Spektrum came out with a receiver with 4 satellite receivers to solve this problem.

The interesting thing is - by solving the problem, they ADMITTED there was a problem that was not being addressed.

He was inverted and investigate what could have blocked the RF.

  • Which stick was the elevator on?

You can see his left thumb was pulling the left stick down, and his right thumb was pushing the right stick up.

  • Did the AAIB get involved?

  • Buy a UHF TX system for such expensive models instead of 2.4Ghz radios...

  • How much did that accident cost?

  • @slimquattro This was clearly a steering error, he just tries to hide it by raising his TX..

  • @bramvanderc Flying myself for years you can clearly see right stick is pushed full forward which would have saved him pushing jet down in this case going back up as he is inverted but nothing is responding. But easy for you to make dumb ass comments as an armchair know it all that has clearly never had 1 flight on even a foam RC plane.

  • This hurts, man! this fuckin' hurts!!!!!!!!!

  • IM IN THE OPINION,AFTER SEEING SO MANY MODELS LOST IN MY SHORT 6 YRS OF FLYING THAT THE REASON TO HOLD RADIO ALOFT IS BECAUSE OF LOST RADIO CONTACT,,IVE ONLY SEEN THIS HAPPEN WITH SPEKTRUM & JR RADIO GEAR,HORIZON HOBBY AR NOT INTRESTED IN THE PROBLEMS WITH THIER IMPORTS,I NEVER HEARD OF FUTABA LOSING CONTACT,ITS TIME TO SEND SPEKTRUM/JR BACK TO THE DESIGNERS & GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

  • @altinkum03 i totally agree with you,ive never had a problem in the short 2 years ive been flying with futaba radio.i will never use another transmitter.shame really about the plane but then you must be crazy to spend that kind of money in the first place.rc flying will never be 100% reliable and if you do spend lots of money you have to be prepared to lose money if any such thing like this should happen.i stick with my props, there alot cheaper and i think a little more reliable.:-)

  • looks to me that a total loss of the on board power or low power on transmitter?. something that should have been cheacked befor flying. i seen this so offen with jets people just dont think to do the basic stuff. you say ali Machinchy is good model flyer. but i've yet to see anything that would back it up.

alot of money dont make a good flyer. + the colour's look well poor at best. :-S

seems odd that using a digital transmitter he thought that raising it up would make any differance.

  • @SpiderPig2501 sigh another know-it-all people like Ali like me and millions of others come from the days of box sized transmitters and radio loss was not uncommon your instinctive response becomes raising your TX up as fast as you can, I don't think he was giving thought to it was GHZ not MHz, secondly do your homework he is a good flyer and pre-flight checks on any model should always be taken seriously. Well done on blowing your trumpet and making yourself look dumb.

  • Having lost a jet myself, I feel his pain. Obviously radio failure. Too bad. Remember: "There is no crying in jets!"

  • That should just buff right out

  • That's what you get for painting a bitchen jet stupid colors, simple as that.

  • Well what do you think about Spektrum? Do you think that was the problem I have had many lock out with mine or was it another type of problem?

  • Feel bad for you, Possibly over 1 year of work blown up in 4 seconds.

  • Oh no, I feel for you :(

Thats was one amazing looking jet, dont spose you know what happend? Did you recover any parts/electrics etc?

  • This was an amazing video production what song was in the back groundnin the begenning?

  • Correct Downfacingdog. I can understand people not allowing comments on these videos, as most of them come from clueless people, who have to put their 2 cents in. If Ali were to lose a plane, it would not be in a simple stable and straight as an arrow inverted pass. For him, it's no different that a smooth upright pass. They don't lose control that easily, and are top notch flyers.

  • Notice his Spektrun top he is wearing ,,,,,Problem solved !

  • gutted

  • People always think modelers are devastated when they stuff their jet for whatever reason. The truth is that once it's gone you get the chance to start thinking about the next and the dreaming process starts again. I love the flying part of the hobby but the design and fabrication stages are an absolute joy.

  • @kingpav I hate to be a troll but when my rc stuff breaks I'm pretty devastated.

  • Thats too bad that was a really nice jet.

  • What radio was he using and why did it lose the plane? I'm thinking probably a 2.4 gig hz radio from JR.

  • @bdarnell1966 Really... All I hear is JR cause crashing, why is that exactly, even with little park flyers, why?

  • Kaputnik!!

  • I would have flown it into My ex girlfriends house.

  • Such a shame. A beautiful plane, beautifully flown.

All this tosh about not flying expensive models near crowds. I for one appreciate the skill in flying such amazing models in such shows. Are most people jealous judging from their comments. Why do some narrow minded people try to spoil it for the majority.

  • Comment removed

  • stupidfly3535, yeah, what everyone else said

  • Sorry but I just see this as daft, what if it had gone into the crowd, or hit somones house? Why can't these guys fly somthing thats fun inexpensive and not dangerous! Who in gods name would trust a crappy radio link with 10K of their hard ernt. I am a life long modler and this is not a good advert for flying toy aeroplanes. Madness! for 10k he could fly a real aeroplane! Utter madness!

  • @steamfly3535

All over the world there are people driving automobiles with their OWN hands and also have accidents and sometimes kill people .... these things happen .... cars are not bad ..... are just accidents. It's the same with planes .... this is a hobby and for every accident must be a thousand flights happy ....

  • @steamfly3535 If you cant afford to crash it, you cant afford to fly it.

The risk is different for all modelers.I know a lot of turbine pilots and my self included, dont take unnessary risks with our planes and only fly in wide open spaces so any risk is hopefully to the airplane only.Like the field Ali was flying in.

I have seen a lot of people sent to the hospital from inexpensive airplanes and inexperianced pilots.None with any jet pilots yet.

The risk is great, caution is greater

    Regards

  • @steamfly3535 have you ever seen a real plane worth 10000? total piece of shit

  • R . I .P

  • Chora neném chora!

  • No survivors!

  • Yeah, puttin' the transmitter over the head never works for me either.

  • "Oh Bugger, Oh Bugger, Go!"

  • He did not make a mistake! Look at the transmitter, he had full down in it which is correct for up when inverted.

It was a radio, servo or battery problem...

  • R.I.P

  • that sucks, beauty of a jet !!

  • Sorry mate, she was a great jet!

  • i feel your loss

  • Darling...

  • that suck big time, hope you rebuild it somehow and get it back in the air, the huner is the best looking aircraft ever! good luck with repairs!

  • an expensive hobby, more emotional pain than finacial after spending so many hours building her, i feel your pain

  • @cryptonight1 but if you crash in flight sim u can press restart...

  • OUCH! That was painful to watch despite there being no personal injury (except for owner/pilot himself).

  • Pilot error!

  • @Downfacingdog

    You're and idiot...

  • @Downfacingdog Ali does not make many errors, if you watch, he raises his arms just before it goes in, indicating he had lost radio connection with the plane. You obviously know nothing about rc flying and as BMACK say's,"you're an idiot".

  • @slimquattro, u dont know anything in RC GENERAL!!!

  • @slimquattro I agreed!

  • @slimquattro - is raising the controller if signal lost an event thing or something? I'd be glued to that radio hoping/waiting for signal to come back.

  • As an RC'er I empathize. This was a beautiful plane, and the pilot looked more than capable. Must have been a radio \ servo \ control arm problem. It's such a bad feeling when this happens, especially in front of others. But it could have been worse - at least it's on film!!

  • Did Rick Astley eject safely?

  • Gave up the RC aircraft and has now discovered ladies.

  • no he invested in Irish banks

  • I bet that makes you feel sick, peanuts compared to the irishman who just lost 3.5 billion on the stock market,

  • @JWCLAXTON potato stock bottom out?

  • Hey mate, I've already lost some money with airplanes too. At least nobody is stealing you, in that case you wouldn't even have had your great times with your plane. Go ahead and buy another one for you ;-) Good luck.

  • This hobby must rebuilt itself from the ashes. I see that is part of the game to heave a result like this, seams to make part of the entire adrenaline thing ....

  • there was nothing he could do thats y he raised his transmitter. looks as if an aileron servo or something failed.

  • great video but i DISLIKE because i hate seeing beautiful planes crash:'( but its all apart of the hobby.

  • EJECT, EJECT, EJE..... Oh Shit

  • @googleisshittoss yo if you are looking for a good trainer get the champ i just got it and it rocks

  • Raising the transmitter on impact is not really too effective in avoiding a crash!

  • @sleded42

You will sometimes be able to transmit a better signal to the plane by raising the transmitter. Not always, but often. Been there, done that, and saved the plane too.

  • hilarious vid. funniest thing i've seen on youtube in ages.

  • Too bad about the loss, but there is something to be said about going out in syle!

  • 10,000 pounds??? You could have learned to fly a real aircraft for that! or even bought one.

  • @JaminProduction

Are you crazy man? The Hawker Hunter takes about 1850 Liters into the center tanks plus about 1200 Liters in underwing Tanks, so about 26 Barrels of Fuel.Every Barrel Fuel costs at the Airport about 120 Dollar.Got that?Right about 3000 Dollar for one time refueling. And then you have to add the running costs for the holdig of the Airplane, like Landing fares and so.

And the costs for a PPL are about 30000 USD.And u still wouldn´t have a plane.

    So please stay real, man!

  • @qqqqhuz Im afraid i have some news for you fella. I have a 1/5 share in a Jodel 1050 Ambassador ant that for one cost under 10 grand and secondly you can get a ppl in the UK for under 7000 pounds! So please get your facts right, man!

  • @JaminProduction

You compare a Jet Aircraft to a single Prop GA?Believe me, it is very expensive to keep a real Hunter well maintained. You can go with your DR 1050 to a local shop and get parts to repair/maintain the plane. For such a retired plane like the Hunter a lot of parts have to be made by hand that`s very expensive. And obiviesly burns the Hunter more fuel than your DR.

Show me just one offer for a flyable hunter below 10k Bucks and its ok....at least you are not the onliest GA pilot...

  • @JaminProduction OK, it is obvious that you cant get a real hawker hunter for under ten grand (im not a moron) bit i do find the fact that you spent 10k on a TOY! hilarious. and then you crashed it!

  • @JaminProduction

Actually 10k is quite cheap! Think of the money some people are spending on a toy car or bike! What can a maserati or ferrari do, that a fiat can't do much cheaper?

  • @qqqqhuz. Where precisely did JaminProduction say that you could buy a Hawker Hunter for less than £10k? He said A REAL AIRCRAFT, he didn't say A HAWKER HUNTER. You need to work on your basic comprehension, man! Also, nowhere in the world does a PPL cost US$30k, a CPL maybe but not a PPL. Damned Youtube, full of people who can't even read spouting that they're experts...

  • Only Spektrum can do it.!!!

  • ashes to ashes dust to dust

  • Was his family and dog on board the ill-fated jet?? By the sadness and dramatic nature of this video you would swear so! Sad to lose something you have invested that much time and effort into no doubt but it's just a toy guys! No one was hurt...I think.

  • That was complete and irrefutable pilot's error, I have also put a bird in the ground inverted low off the deck...in a split second you lose orientation or co-ordination and with a jet like that it's over in milliseconds....he knew it too, threw his hands up just before impact when he realised he had lost the model - sorry man, sad sad loss.

  • @wingnutzster to that I must say - to me it looked like a common pilot mistake but it may very well have been loss of control as stated - forgive the speculation.

  • @wingnutzster. Ali Machinchy is not your average rc club pilot. he's internationally recognised as one of the foremost rc display pilots in the world. This wasn't losing orientation or pilot error, this was a fault with the radio gear.

  • @pete2778 I know well who and what he is....he is like a god in RC and I have been a fan for many years. That doesn't exclude him from mistakes and the occasional high speed miscalculation - even the most experienced full size jet display pilots have been known to make errors. That said if this was radio malfunction he is the unluckiest sonofabitch in the world!!! couldn't it glitch a few feet higher or waited 'til he corrected from inverted?? :P

  • Why would you want to wear sunglasses when there's no sun above your head, just thick clouds?

  • Sad, just too sad. :-( What do you suppose felt worse: Seeing the plane going down and crash or going to the wreck, looking at it, gathering what's left of the carcase and

    fighting to keep tears back?

  • @Pantbera Its called the walk of shame too bad. You know the saying its not if its when. Ihave been there more than i like to say.

  • was it ever determined which were the possible reasons of signal loss???

  • Man that was some nice flying, sorry about the plane.

  • sorry, could the adition of two letters "RC" be added to the title? or even "toy" , its not a hawker hunter, its a model that resembles a hawker hunter, or in this instance , was, a model that resembled a hawker hunter......

  • @benspeed1974 I translate your comment as "I am disappointed I didn't see the death of a human being. How dare you prick tease me like that?" Look at the tags.

  • @AlexSlams , not at all, im not looking for death, im just sick of silly fucking middle aged boys who seem to think that a toy aircraft is in any way comparable to the real thing, so you can "translate" my comment as anything you like, ITS NOT A HAWKER HUNTER, ITS AN EXPENSIVE (DESTROYED) TOY.

  • @benspeed1974 Have you seen the tags? With regards to your expensive toy comment, you are dead right - of course that's what they are but I bet you wouldn't have the cognitive skills to fly or build something like this. Otherwise your comments wouldn't be so full of vitriol.

  • @AlexSlams look , you have no idea what i have built or flown , model or full size, i just would like to see all the RC model videos have those two simple little letters in the title, tags mean nothing, you dont see the tags in the title, imagine seeing a video entitled " ferrari f1 accident" and when you clicked it, it was a 4yr old playing with a toy on the carpet, get a bit annoying after a while........
