  • I personally love her voice. She sounds a little like Regina Spektor, so unique and strong. And due to the fact that I hear german accents every single day I don't think it's missing here, if I didn't read the comments, I wouldn't even know about it ;)

  • Terrible

  • love this interpretation. fantastic.

  • its not that bad but i dont really like her voice but thats just me

  • oh man, I so want to be in this show now...lol

  • this kind of is not the best she is forcing humor on it and its by herself not with a guy just my opion

  • this is fantastic hahaha

i love the santa! though i don't believe that her voice is that mindblowing, the acting certainly is!

  • you know i thought "santa" was an audience member at first.... i think i prefered thinking of it that way ... coz then it makes her look WAY more insane... but then i dunno if you can do all that stuff to an audience member :P

  • this is awesome

  • ive never seen it with 'santa' on stage, i like i by herself, but i also like it with him. its different . . . i like it

  • Hilarious i love it i love it I LOVE IT

  • I feel like the use of a Nick is kind of distracting. She could've done it fine by herself...she's a good enough actress.

  • What I would like to know, speaking critically, is how they arranged the music. I understand creative liberty and all that, but I was looking at the music (I've got the book) and it seemed that she was only using her chest voice the whole time. :?

  • Hmm... There's always the possibility that THIS IS NOT THE BLOODY ORIGINAL PRODUCTION! The idea of adding the Santa is genius.

  • The parody is of a Bette Midler song, I believe. And, anyway, whether the actress is strong enough to act without a prop is hardly conceivable by watching this performance alone. Also, it's not necessarily her fault that the Santa is on stage; it was obviously an idea by the director, ingeniously done so. JRB is not one to vomit on a production as well-done as this. Although, he might like to vomit on you...

  • glitternbgay, if you're such an authority on musical theatre, why don't you post a few videos of YOU singing this "properly?"

Woohoo. Go Wickedude. ^_^ +1 for you.

  • well said both u and wickedude

  • Actually, I'm guessing it's a parody of Marlene Dietrich...hence, the fact that it's usually done with a German accent.

  • I agree.

  • Poor Santa Claus! This is really funny, though...I still feel kinda bad for him! :)

  • We did this song in our Variety musical two years ago.

Everyone thought it was weird lmao

  • Love the acting and the humor.

  • I've seen them do it with a guy being Nick alot, and I can say it annoys me, other than that faboulous performance.

  • Aaaah, this is so good. I think she's LUCKY- she gets to play with his pretty hair.

  • LMAO now this is adorable. :) Nice one, Woman 2. XD ABUSE HIIIIIIIIIIIIM!!! XD XD XD

  • I Thought it was supposed to be a german women trying to do a french accent

  • you are correct. she did it wrong and didn't do any accents. they even omitted the line where she says "I"M not even German!" which is my favorite funniest line, so that ruined it for me.

  • I'm not sure how you could assert that a performer or a director has done something WRONG. Every piece of music ever written is up to individual interpretation. Yes, there is a "correct" way to perform a Mozart concerto and there areways to shit all over it but modern music, especially theater, is up to the actors and the direction. Do you think the modern vision of the last production of Sweeney Todd (w/ LuPone and her tuba) in NYC was "wrong?" It was definitely different..but was it incorrect?

  • hmm that was a interesting performance of that song... I've seen better, but they're young

  • I loved this! Damn, I wish I could be in this show. Your school did such an amazing job. Props to everyone for their voices

  • She obviously has a beautiful voice but it's true what yarr says, she was exhausting her voice the whole time and it's also true that most of the laughs came from Santa Claus but I still love the piece and they did an extremely good job considering this is a highschool. I wish mine was thise good.

  • very good. extremely good actually, but i think the acting was a little bit lacking on her part. most of the laughs from the audience came when the guy did something. But still extremely good singing and not BAD acting by any means. Just thought I'd put that out there. :-)

  • She totally exhausted her voice through that song, pushing it too hard in the beginning, you can hear it at the end.

I also had this problem when I sing this song, well I still do sort of.

you can still give power without straining yourself, she'll ruin her voice if she continues like that.

Which is a sham because she's clearly very good :)

  • what's with the lack of an accent?

  • um..theres not really much of a point to having one.

  • I suppose. although it adds another layer of humor. she's got great voice anyway, and very funny.

  • um.. yeah there is, it's kinda the one of he major points of the song. One of the lines says, "I mean come on, i'm not even german!" so if there is no accent then that loses it's effectiveness. anyway, even without the accent, Awesome job!

  • I'll pass along the compliment to her! Kristine Zbornik, not JRB, wrote the whole monologue. And the German line isn't even in the script; it was just an adlib by the performer. The song wasn't written that way in the first place. So, yeah, it can make it funny, but it's definitely not one of the main points of the song- it's never alluded to again. But hey, that's the great thing about the show- while it requires a strong respect of the original material, it's very open to interpretation.

  • The style of the song should require a German accent. If it didn't fit they wouldn't have used it in the first place. It's not used throughout the song - and the effot required to put in is outweighed by the what you get out of it. Nevertheless, it was very well directed and performed. I liked the santa-hat beating very much, and the whole idea of him being tied up.

  • The only song from the show I actually like.
