  • Chris calls himself a power user/geek but in 2007 imaging technology was pretty damn good. He mentions reinstalling programs, etc but obviously he was ignorant of how to image a system so that you don't have to. For a geek, imaging (ghosting) a system is actually pretty easy to do and is a huge time saver when moving from an old computer to a new one. It's funny that in just 3 years Chris went from not needing to have the latest and greatest to becoming an early adopter - very Interesting...

  • should i upgrade my 2 gb windows vista toshiba satellite laptop since my pc cant run the games that i play really well? i cant upgrade the ram i have in my system.

  • well backups work so you dont have to

  • My computer by NO means is the fastest gaming rig on the market. Dual Core Intel E8400 at 3 ghz. 4gb ram. 2 GeForce 9800gt's. 1tb hdd. It plays ALL the games at high detail. AT 1920x1080. So... why do you need a Core i7 980x with 32gb of RAM and 4 gtx 480's? you don't! Unless, you are doing hardcore hd video rendering of course.

  • my curent pc is old 3 years and havent upgraded it at all it sucks i know :(

  • i bought a pc then after a small time i bought more ram and later a new video card

  • Hey i have a very old compaq 5000 and i do like it... but its really outdated and its only got 256mb ram. If someone could tell me a good computer for under 600$, atleast 2gb ram, can run games, has a sound and video card. Thanks for your help.

  • Sound like if want to replace the CPU you just might get the rest of the computer with it.

  • Yeah I'm going to upgrade my computer as well, the reason why is becuase when I play a game online it keeps choking and add more ram and get a video card.

  • Why would you ask this guy advice on anything? Next people are going to ask him how to pick up strange men in a park bathroom. Next video is How to turn on your computer and your boyfriend.

  • theres a due in my commet

  • its not penium its pentium yo

  • I have shark Ultamet Pers Built And It owns 400k Ram.....245k memory....lol i spent 7,000 dollers on it

  • wow lots o' money i wish i had money i am running xp 512mb ram and 2 intell pentium 4 processors @ 3gh oh i forgot the main thing its a dell

  • I currently have a four year old computer my self and it works fine for me. I think a person should get a new computer when the oporating system gets to be at least ten years old or more. It is due to the fact that the company may not offer a update to the os and the fact that the newer verson of the os is mich easier to use.

  • im running a 10 year old computer power mac g4 512 RAM

  • im running on a 8 year old computer...

  • talkative guy.... can be a politician, but not a technician.

  • most of the ppl use the PC for games

and as games evolve way too fast is a pain in the ass to upgrade every year

not to forget that its expensive

  • As a computer tech there is no simple answer. His was about as good and simple as it gets people. It's all in what a person needs or wants. If all they want is to check e-mail they can use a very old computer and it will work, if they want more, then they will need more.

  • god this guy is dull

  • the only reason i up grade is when the pc costs more in fix than its worth

  • I have :

    -amd athlon VENICE 3200+

    -512 mb ram (I just orderd 2gb)

    -nvidia 7300 gt

will I be able to play crysis ?????

  • sorry mate but no

  • Up the video card to at least an 8600 and it will JUST run Crysis.

  • ok thanks

  • The thing is about crysis is that a lot of the game is CPU dependent. so i would upgrade the lot like i did!

  • Crysis isnt CPU dependent, its GPU Dependent

  • then how come they cant run its properly with three gpu's. i got my info from custom PC who had a interview with the guys who made it so im more inclined to believe them than you.

  • its cpu dependent for phisics

  • You do know, that if the number is higher, the more outdated it is...

  • well at you need a Amd athlon 64 + 3700

and i dont know bout the GPU

  • actually that will play crysis. I have a 7300 LE and it ran crysis at a decent frame rate at all low

  • cool

  • Hey Chris Pirillo! I won't ask for your computer once you are finished with it but can I have Ponzi? She's really pretty and reminds me of the woman who sang Saturday Night! You remember it? Saturday night and I like the way you move...pretty baby...I'll make you mind and not one minute we can lose...be my baby!

  • I still use my celeron III 900 mhz. It has 128 mb ram and a nvidia MX2 video card :)

I'll upgrade sometime in the fall.

  • Well, I'm not trying to say that your wrong but in 1997 i bought A e-machines 340i and it had a amd K-6 2 processor and i recently bought a new dell e310 dimension PC, and I all ways buy new games and things like that and it always worked good till i tried to get vista. Sorry but that messed everything up and fried my motherboard. just say'n

  • Jesus, 4 years I'm replacing my xps 600 in January.

  • Can I have it?

  • i went 9 years before upgrading my pc :P

  • transfering ur data to a new computer can be made easy, i just got a new pc last week, instead of reinstalling every thing just switch hard drives or like me since my old drive was ultra ata and the new pc only accepts sata drives use norton ghost simple

  • Mega-taskers?, is that a made up word...

  • Reasons for a full upgade the full computer.

    1) Every thing is to slow.

    2) No more upgrades exist for the slots, plugs and sockes you have in you computer.

    3) It would be ceaper to make a new then upgrading the parts that needs to be changed.

    4) The upgrades that does fit your system woudn't bring it up to a decired speed.

  • I say max out your system part by part gpu cpu ram once you hit the wall 3 or 4 year down the road think about a platform change. You can go to powerleap dot com let it analyze your system and it will let you know what upgrades are available for your system.

  • i had a winxp 1.1ghz 256 mb ram windows xp. and that was fine for about years. Then i gone and bought (off ebay - i know dont remind me how tight i am!) a E520 Dell Dimension. Windows vista home basic 3.06ghz 512 mb ram 64mb graphics card pc! It runs fine and nearly all my programs work fine with no glitches

  • I had the same computer since '99 and I upgraded in Feburary.

  • what are you hardware/software using to go dual monitors?

  • still using my dell xpst500 from '99. upgraded the cpu to 1.2ghz few yrs ago.. powers 3 19" trinitron crts.

    runs great win2k

  • I had my last computer, an HP Pentium IV for 7 years...

  • badboy- i can't answer that question unless you know what you want to do with the laptop :P

  • I recently upgraded to 2 GB of RAM. The specs on new computers often aren't much of an improvement on my current computer.

  • There is no question... NEVER buy a new computer. Always build it yourself.

    This guy knows shit.

Always upgrade never buy a new computer.

  • after 3 years i hav upgraded/changed everything except for the case, AMD 2ghz w/about 1/2 of the original motherboard. i think that to upgrade further (faster) at this point would cost as much or more than a new one.

  • I have an AMD Athlon Slot A CPU 800 MHZ & my Q. is how can I find a m/b that supports it so put this great CPU back in business??? the original Abit m/b I was using to run this CPU was fried (really the m/b capacitors have exploded) it was an Abit KA7 so i was forced to switch over to an Intel 4 H/T CPU, & Tyan m/b, but i still love to find a way to revive the good Athlon by means of getting a new mobo for (SLOT A)

    any ideas???

  • I have 2 of those cpu's Slot A 750mhz...they rocked!

  • do you still own (working m/b for Slot A )the mobo? and can you provide with some more info/spec.

  • ebay?

  • Amazon too but they don't ship internationally ..

  • sorry, the abit m/b's died before the cpu's did, I did find a replacement online for about $25-$35, search sites like pricewatch, ebay, amazon, overstock, pricegrabber, and maybe you'll come accross one.

  • Im in the process of looking for a MAC laptop what do you suggest? I only know about PCs really nothing really about MACs...also just curious what your spec is your currently running :)

  • Nice video ^^
