  • I found to pranqster to be a mess.

  • I LOVE THAT BELGIAN YEAST SOURNESS!..TRAPPIST ALES ARE UNIQUE,AND DO REQUIRE TIME........ TO APPRECIATE THEIR ONE OF AKIND TASTE...CHEERS!!!

  • My favorite shaped bottle!

Lacto is a bacteria though, not a yeast. Been awhile since I've had this one but I don't remember it blowing me away. But like you I tried it early on when I went on my first Belgium kick. I'll revisit it one of these days. A good honest review of it though, cheers!

  • @StumpyJoeJr I'm aware of the bacteria/yeast distinction, but misspoke and didn't consider it important enough to throw in a text disclaimer while editing.

One of the disadvantages of the video format versus doing text reviews is exactly that kind of minor editing. If you misspeak and don't catch it, it's relatively hard to correct.

Looking forward to seeing your review if you re-review it soon. Cheers!

  • Great review, sounds like you drank this one fresh. I like to drink mine with 6 months of age on it because its bottle conditioned with brettanomyces it takes a long time for it to really dry out and bring forth all of the funky flavors.

Sometimes I like to get a fresh one as well, its very hoppy when fresh. The beer goes though a lot of changes as it ages.

Thanks for the plugs and doing the review.

  • @Tantrum777 Yeah, as mentioned in the review I don't drink enough Orval to really know how it ages out, but that's an interesting comment. I'll check the case at the store and see if there's a bottling date -- sometimes there's a date on the box that isn't listed on the bottles.

I've got a St. Bernardus Abt 12 here as well, which will be reviewed in a few days.

  • @TheEndosymbiosis The Bottled on date and best before date is on every Orval bottle. Cheers!

  • I love Orval. Good review.
