  • grover sounds so ehem islamic?

  • @jutubaeh How do you sound Islamic?

  • yes, it was definitely cool to grow up to this, thanks for appreciating:)

As for Katy Perry, she is iconic, but she's a sex symbol. I don't think madonna ever made it to sesame street in the 80's (although she was much more iconic than katy perry could ever dream of being)

  • I envy kids who grew up to this!

  • @SARJdk me too

  • Stevie Wonder should be brought back on the show to do the songs he did on the classic show fro mthe 70s. Make it a show about memories or something.

  • He is blazed out of his mind.

  • I wanna see Stevie Wonder's music clips in this quality please!

  • I love Stevie.

  • Awwwwww, this is precious! Damn i love Stevie in the 70s!

  • @catolog96 just aint got no talent these days , they all about sex, drugs, fame, and power. and they teaching our kids this behavior....how long Father?

  • If you like this video, you'll also like the Cosby Show episode A TOUCH OF WONDER. Stevie Wonder guest stars as himself.

  • sesame street was the coolest fucking show on the goddamn planet

  • SCRABBLE SCRABBLE SCRABBLE

  • grover and stevie wonder, to much swag in one room.

  • I like his twist-y head motions! :D!

  • can i have his shades?

  • Sesame Street used to teach kids stuff instead of dumbing it down for them.

Now it is just goo goo baby talk so they can sell that Elmo shit.

It is all about selling toys now.

  • When did this episode first air?

  • I mean, poor Grover... Stevie is being kind saying that he sings better than him... :) I am pretty sure there is a video with Stevie singing more than this, though, on Sesame Street... hmmm...

  • You play WELL, Grover. Not "good."

  • And these days, people like Katy Perry get to be on the show..

  • @Mactwee Well you gotta understand. They put some of the hottest artists out. Obviously Stevie was one of the hottest artist out around that time. The music industry has changed drastically.

  • @Mactwee and Katy Perry ain't squat compared to Stevie Wonder. he had real talent, was an inspiration to everyone, he's a legend, and he's still going strong, and very well loved, while Katy is just an untalented bimbo who is generic, sucks at singing, has no inspirational music whatsoever, and will be forgotten in a matter of years, while Stevie's music lives on. Real musicians rule!

  • @90sandealy00srule1 I wholeheartedly agree!

  • @Mactwee Actualy Mactwee. They don`t.. that got banned

  • @Mactwee Go to hell fool in 10 years Katy Perry will be just as loved you can't even say that cuz she ended up not even having her episode showed and you can never say old music is better just cuz you old and ugly but music from all different times has its greatness and the only song that stevie wonders truly sing great was "My Cherie Amour"

  • @ilhentai Stevie is a greatly talented, seasoned musician.. And I'm sure many will agree. It's funny how quick you were to assume that of me- I'm 19, and here in this world that really isn't that old, you know. :) And it's alright if I'm ugly on the outside. I'm not here to fight; I just feel (like @90sandealy00srule1) that there's much that's been lost in music between then and now- the true purpose of writing a particular piece of music, its meaning and the emotions it evokes in the listener.

  • @ilhentai I just have to add this: I'm sorry you think "My Cherie Amour" is his only great song. In "Black Man" he sings about the greatness in every human being, beyond the boundaries of race, social backgrounds and colour. "I'm Free" is a beautiful song on how liberated he feels from all the worries in life. "Isn't She Lovely" and "I Just Called To Say I Love You" are just two of the countless, pure, gorgeous expressions of love he penned for the special women in his life. Love and light. :)

  • @Mactwee Katy Perry is a pro in her field. Of course she's not in the same league as Stevie, but she's an entertainer and good enough at that. Since I saw her unplugged I realised she's not a bad singer either. And even in the '70s the muppets had guests who've been long forgotten anyway, they weren't all geniuses like Wonder and Ray Charles or Belafonte.

  • @Mactwee don't be hatin now... she's delicious

  • @Mactwee So true. Also, Katy Perry wasn't even born yet when this was filmed XD

  • @Mactwee I felt that Katy Perry's song was a great homage to the way Sesame Street used to be. By not airing it, Sesame Workshop betrayed Henson's legacy.

  • @heymrk Do NOT ever mention "Katy Perry" in Stevie Wonder comments! This is your first...and last warning!

  • @severn3732 Oh grow up.

  • @severn3732 i want to see katy perry and stevie wonder duet. that would be aweomse.

  • @Mactwee

Oh go cry in a closet you hipster.

  • OG shit!

  • That's from a ver-r-r-ry long time ago!!!!! Probably late 70's or so!

  • ssscaaaba daaaaba hahaha OMG!

  • lol so funny grover trying to imitate stevie lol

  • God this is so old. Stevie Wonder ♥

  • I love Grover's whole reaction. When he was trying to do that melody I nearly ended up on the floor!

  • Grover's expression at the end. HAHA.

  • dang sesame street has been a long tv series

  • o yeh....grovers a great singer xD lol

omg... just realised i'm wearing my 'i love grover' shirt

  • LOL the end is so awesome :D

  • Grover jams!

  • Grover rules!

    Elmo sucks!

  • 11 people missed the like button

  • @blackbeard246 nah im pretty sure they meant to hit the dislike button

  • i HOPE they find a cure for blindness because in Australia they found a cure for Cancer and we are developing it now

  • @KarateKidRyan They haven't found a cure for cancer in Australia. Also, not every blind person would want to take the cure because of the way they get to live their life. They find joy and a sense of pride in being blind.

  • @Strategy5659 yeah they have found a type of plant in Queensland to cure cancer there trying to develop it now go search it up and i think most people would want to see just my opinion

  • The best african american pionalist love you stevie

  • Stevieeee <3

  • Oh grover just couldn't get it

  • I love this episode with Motwon legend Stevie Wonder

  • wow people!!

  • Stevie doesnt seem at all happy in this.. In fact he looks a little sad

  • @J00kes I would have been sad if I was blind too.

  • @J00kes

Didn't he just divorce from his first wife Syreeta Wright around that time in 1972? It was really bad because they were long time good friends even before the marriage. She even wrote a couple of his hits, like "Sign, Sealed, Delivered".

  • He was skinny at one time?

  • @Colinator369 No, he was born fat ...

  • @Nautilus1972 I was

  • Stevland's a little stoned in this one, eh?

  • trippy ending

  • lol grover scattin'. lol

  • m3 t00 LOL!!!! ") :D

  • That was awesome!!!!

  • not sure if I got the deeper meaning of the end...

  • how delightfully weird

  • NO! Stevie plays WELL, Elmo, Stevie plays WELL.

  • what a gentleman!. God bless stevie wonder

  • Don't quite understand the end of this video.

  • I remember seeing this episode in grade school. If I'm not mistaken, Stevie performed Superstition in this episode

  • what year was that in?

  • I would say 1972 or 1973 since that is the time frame Superstition was out

  • shoulda thought about that, silly me, thanks anyway!

  • not a problem. I was in 4th or 5th grade when I saw that episode and then it was a rerun. We often watched Sesame, Electric and Mr Rodgers in class.

  • oh i wish i had gone to your school!

  • @EONSFTFAN Definitly it was from the 1972-73 season.

  • Thanks Mike!!! I had a feeling it was but could not be sure.

  • Grover actually plays bass on a few tracks on "Innervisions" and supposedly gave Stevie the riff for "Higher Ground"

  • stevie is sympathy in person!

  • God how old is this?

  • I remember watching this on ITV at the time, approx 1980-82. supersitious is awesome also here on you tube

  • actually i just found out it was 1973, it was repeated in the UK a few years later

  • How old do you think it is?

  • i'd say over 30 years old.

  • 22 years old at the time of this filming.

  • Should be from 1972

  • I have to say Grover is my favorite of all time~ especially when he is the waiter!! lol He beats Elmo any day!
