Woot! Yeah!! I love Mike Rowe's show! And my dad goes fishing in Alaska too and he says its not that dangerous. Discovery channel tends to exaggerate the dangers of crab fishing.

As a Bering Sea crab fisherman - yes it can be dangerous. But that tv show hypes it up so bad.

All fishing is dangerous mate as you well know. Trawling is dangerous if you come fast, Crabbing is dangerous if your foot goes in the bight, Seining is dangerous if the rope breaks, But I can imagine what you mean about the DC programme- it is very hyped up imo

This "not that dangerous" title is by a boatowning family 'wanting to be cool' to their critical friends (can't think for themselves). Deep sea fishing is high-fatality and injury compared to other occupations (you need only check government stats). 'Bleeders' (injury) and deaths are commonplace in the offshore fishing industry (U.S./Canadian govt. stats). Exhaustion + rough seas = ... uh, duh, gimme a week ta figger dis won out, duh-uh.
