  • Can someone tell me the chords for this song?

  • My all time favorite...

  • I like it that he doesn't even give a fuck

  • Kurt Cobain once said that Texas outsider artist Jandek "isn't pretentious, but only pretentious people like his music."

  • @markyuuu Oh, well if Kurt Cobain says it it must be true.

  • hahahaha....among the list of Jandek videos down the right and column is....The Carter Family Wildwood Flower. I'll take it.

  • This would sound better tuned down a half step.

  • Needs more atonal cowbell.

  • Man he ain't even trippin', know whum taln-bout? Keepin' it real like a MUH-fuggah 'n shit. Uh bitch uh HELL yeh!!!

  • now this is fucking no-wave

  • 254 people missed the dislike button!

  • Jandek is so beautifully haunting. He puts me in this peaceful trance. I absolutely adore all genres of music but I always love when someone does something different/what they want to do...no matter what. Come check out my tribute to Jandek on my channel!

  • i love how he often stops to adjust the amp knobs, as if he has a specific sound hes going for, ahaha

not dissing him. this is so bizarre but i keep coming back to it

  • LOLWUT

  • the vocals remind me of the king crimson song indisipline. I wonder if they have heard of jandek

  • this s horrid. need my lovely baby biebez ick!

  • @jbeibz1fan you don't belong here

  • This is a bad, bad joke.

  • I'll continue this some other time... girlfriend just got home. But you want to discuss seriously about this? I'd be more than happy to... PM me...

  • @Tripo1iSamson Buddy, you do realize that you are projecting your warped ideas on me do you? What you are desribing me of doing, you are doing as well. So can we cut that bullshit out and stay with the issue. What do you want me to say? You win? We obviously have completely different ideas on music... and that's fine... but I'm not the one who started calling the other one an asshole and constatnly trying to run me down for no good reason. Analyzing my every word and trying to twist it around.

  • @Tripo1iSamson that you're not superior to anyone else, or that you're clearly not more intelligent. So, like all weak-willed egoists, you will spend your life in eternal fight-or-flight- when someone else who's likeminded reinforces your pretentious ways, you will feel "good," and you will continue to interact with that person, all the while reinforcing your own ego. If someone disagrees with you, you will smear them, and then flee like a child, because you must stamp out that which challenges

  • @Tripo1iSamson LOL! You do realize all what you're saying applies to you more than me right? YOU'RE the one with the fucked up ego... you're the one trolling my channel....YOU'RE the one fucking your mother. You,ve lost it with all your expletives! YOU ARE A SOCIOPATH!!!! Congratulations. A lost cause (pun intended) Now fuck off while I ignore you.... And for anyone else reading this, I strongly suggest you check out Tripo's channel... seems to be an expert troll. Tsk tsk... pathetic little shit

  • @Tripo1iSamson LOL! You stalked mine!!! I didn't leave any halfwit remark on your profile like you've done... Geez you're pathetic. You're just beating around the bush of the conversation and trying to turn it personal (just like every good troll does). But if I didn't find you entertaining, I wouldn't be coming back. I just love to see you waste your time.

  • @Tripo1iSamson Wow, you're even more paranoid than I thought. Seeing prosecution where there is none. I love seeing you bitch and moan. And I'm more than happy to confirm that you ARE an inferior little piece of shit for being so one-track-minded and not opening yourself up to different art forms and culture. The world would be a fucking dull place if everything had to have a steady tempo and a guitar and a drum that match. You are simply clueless as to what artistic expression is capable of.

  • @Tripo1iSamson You do realize that your complete lack of musical reasoning nullifies your opinion of Jandek right? One track mind loser (and he calls ME a loser). What a boring little sound world you must be living in to only listen to one type of music. I pity you... Really, but it's OK Tripo, you can feel safe knowing you,re not the only one.

  • @Tripo1iSamson OK, so according to the almighty Tripo... only metal is good... Yes that makes sense. That's not close-minded at all. You are hopeless tripo and it saddens me that you'll never EVER realize this. Oh well, you're still young, maybe there's still hope for you yet. But I don't have my hopes up too high...

  • @Tripo1iSamson Oh and by the way... Could you please enlighten us pretentious assholes as what good music, according to Tripo1iSamson might be? What makes you such a good judge of what is good or not?

  • @Tripo1iSamson Get out of your angry little head Tripo. Things aren't always blacka and white. Not everyone likes what you like and it's a reality that not everything is on the same level. It's simply logical that some things, culturally speaking, are out of reach if you aren't equipped to tackle them on the first place. Either that or you're a hopeless closed-minded twat like you Tripo. Some artforms demand a certain background to appreciate. if you don't have it, doesn't mean you're inferior.

  • @Tripo1iSamson What detailed answer? You obviously felt threatened for some reason about my enjoying Jandek's music and you immediately jump out calling me an asshole for no good reason. I wasn't trying to put anyone down for not liking Jandek, I was just trying to put things in perspective. But seeing how much of a complete dick and rabid dog you are.

  • @borowczyk76 Actually, I'm very curious... HOW could I have made my point without sounding pretentious to you? Can you give me a serious answer or are you just gonna growl again? It's not a secret that a lot of people are throwing the "P" word around every time they think something is outside of their comfort zone, why would things be different for you?

  • @Tripo1iSamson LOL! Pardon me while I get REAL WILD!!!!!!

  • @Tripo1iSamson Buddy, you'll never make me believe that there isn't something fascinating about Jandek. In your paranoid delusion, YOU believe I'm trying to put YOU down for not liking this. All I'm saying is that this might appeal to people who enjoy outsider art. It's a completely valid argument and has no pretentious leanings whatsoever. If outsider art is alien to you, then you won't like it and that's fine. How is that pretentious? You don't even know the meaning of the fucking word, moron

  • @Tripo1iSamson That was NEVER the point with Jandek. Are you familiar with outsider art at all? I suggest you look it up. Not for everyone, but there's NOTHING wrong with enjoying this. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others shouldn't...

  • If Captain Beefheart during his lifetime had collaborated with Jandek, I bet that the result would have been quite interesting.

  • was at this show - kicked ass! richard youngs doin his best holger czukay on bass. alex neilson doin his best alex neilson on drums....and the "corwood industries representative". could not believe what i was seeing! same day as Keiji Haino too, next day had current 93, six organs... and baby dee (if i remember correctly!)

  • To anyone who says that Jandek is "boring" or "hipster music". Bare in mind that not everyone enjoys the same things. This music is down right gritty and ugly... and some people look for this in music, out of the need for something new. This is VERY different, it's strange and the whole mystery behind Jandek's career only adds to the intrigue. He is the Darger, the Wolfli of rock. An outsider, naive yet unique... the darker, uglier cousin of The Shaggs. Pretentious has nothing to do with this.

  • @borowczyk76 You're obviously an asshole.

  • @Tripo1iSamson You're obviously a bigger asshole. Congratulations.

  • @borowczyk76 Your words are pretentious

  • @Tripo1iSamson You find a better a way of explaining it... but if you don't like Jandek, forget it. What's the point? I like Jandek and tried to explain WHY, sue me. I really don't see what was pretentious in what I wrote. It's called enthusiasm in my book.

  • @borowczyk76 People who say "sue me" are usually spoiled pussies who live in some country who's citizens are usually way too frivolous with litigation. Loser. Pretentious, spoiled fuck.

  • @Tripo1iSamson Tsk tsk.... Speculation... that's pretty desperate my friend. But congratulations on living a life of hardship and not being a spoiled pussy who doesn't like Jandek.

  • This song is really tough on Guitar Hero...

  • @12deixa3 lol i can just imagine that

  • @12deixa3 Go away

  • Jandek owns, haters gonna hate

  • wcsb plays this garbage all the time. this crap goes absolutely nowhere. when i first heard it i thought it was a really shitty bunny brains song, but thankfully i was mistook. you must be really bored to listen to this tripe.

  • I like this because it makes me laugh. What else can I do?

  • It would be really funny if he stopped and yelled at the drummer and bass player for missing a note or being out of tune.

  • Why the hell are people talking bad/negative about Linkin Park in this Un-relative Video For????

It makes no damn sense. Stupid Biased Ignorant People.. like, what the hell.

  • @12deixa3 that's pretty cool man you should write poetry

  • @afkhajiit

Thanks man. I'll sure take that into consideration.

  • @12deixa3 shhh

  • FRIDAY is better than this, but not Linkin Park.

  • That was very boring...

  • ive made the decision to get real wild

  • This is fucking terrible, and if anyone likes it, they are a hipster or just deluding themselves.

  • @ItsGettingColder1

No, see, just because you don't like or get something, it doesn't mean that nobody else possibly could. I like Jandek because I find his odd guitar tunings interesting (and he certainly has more melodic material) and a perfect background for his lyrics and voice, both of which I enjoy.

I don't even really know what a hipster is and as far as being deluded goes I'm no more deluded than you must be to make such a condescending remark to people who like things you don't.

  • @pulsedemon

I suppose I should also say that I operate on absolutely no levels of pompousness because I enjoy experimental music. I fully understand that people have different tastes in different things. Hell, maybe you've just been annoyed by one too many art students or something

  • @pulsedemon No, this is just terrible. I'd rather listen to Merzbow than this.

  • Merzbow and Jandek are similar, composition-wise. Both make music with unconventional sounds and structures to an end that is neither improvised or completely written out but still has a clear goal in mind.

And as incomprehensible as it may be to you - yes, people actually really like this music. I listened to several of his albums last night, in fact.

I dunno, maybe your difficulty in understanding why somebody would like this is similar to me wondering why the hell Linkin Park makes money

  • @pulsedemon Linkin Park sucks too.

  • @ItsGettingColder1 Linkin Park does not suck. They never did and even though they changed their style, they are still a good band. Why do you have to be so biased and ignorant for? That was completely unessary.

  • @ItsGettingColder1 Linkin Park does not suck. They never did and even though they changed their style, they are still a good band. Why do you have to be so biased and ignorant for? That was completely unnecessary.

  • @darkviper016129 You're a furry.

  • @ItsGettingColder1 No, I'm not a furry.

  • @darkviper016129 yes but i am

  • It's got a catchy melody that I just can't get out of my head.

  • So glad this guy decided to start playing live! Superb!

  • For all the debate on here, and aesthetics aside, this song just ROCKS!! The Rep rocks. None of it's in that Led Zep/Grand Funk way, but it's got the rock "thing."

  • 不思議な魅力がある。

  • It's not about "getting it," which is a pompous way to put it, anyway. It's about liking it. You like this, most people don't. You're pretentious, other people are close-minded. You're not deeper or more interesting for liking atonal music. It would be nice if that were true, as then we'd have a sure yardstick for who to hang with, but it's not.

  • This is the original 4chan "All American Anthem"!

  • can you spell F-R-A-U-D?

  • a completely uncompromised musical vision. it gets compared to music children might make so often because, like a child, his approach to music is absolutely unconcerned with our culture's concepts of what music should or should not be. it's pure; candid in a way very little other music dares to be

  • @chudslayerr you fucking got to be kidding. this doesn't deserve anyone's attention. comparable to a readymade art ; you may pick up a piece of shit, claim it to be art, but its still a piece of shit.

  • @chudslayerr it's bollocks

  • @citizen773 bullocks is a pretty good word for every damned thing I've ever heard from this clown.

  • @citizen773 You're bollocks.

  • Comment removed

  • @chudslayerr that might just be the most pretentious thing I have EVER read. Sorry, but maybe tone it down a bit

  • I understand the whole Jandek thing, but I really feel bad for the three wives that have to stand through it and pretend to support it.

  • Fucking turd sandwich this is. Give it up Jandek. You're not creating art, you're creating poop.

  • @thesandman775 I'm sure anyone here could tear apart something YOU find valuable, too. To those who get it, Jandek is amazing. To those who don't, you just won't see it the way we do.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer

I understand. But I also understand that most of Jandek's core audience are pretentious, pompous assholes that feel like they somehow exist on a different plane of living just because they "get it." That sickens me more than anything. I also understand that it goes both ways, as well.

  • @thesandman775 Really? Do you know most of his core audience, allowing you to say that? I'm sure some may be pretentious, but the way you phrased that kinda reminds me of a generalization Kurt Cobain once made about Jandek's fans. I currently own 21 of his albums (and planning to get more) but I don't think I'm a pretentious asshole.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer

Just cruise the comment section of this video. FYI, my comment wasn't directed at you since you clearly have the ability to have an intelligent discussion about it. Like I said, I know it goes both ways, too. People that don't get it tend to be pompous about it, also.

  • @thesandman775 Thank you for the kind words, and I agree with you on your point that it goes both ways.

So tell me, what is it you don't like about Jandek's music? I clearly understand that it's not for everyone, but I'm always curious to hear personal reasons.

  • I'm driving 10 hours to see Jandek this Friday night in Davis, CA. Can't wait.

  • i was at this show. was not expecting jandek at all! i bought the tickets as I wanted to see Keiji Haino, Current 93, Six Organs and richard Youngs. When "The Corwood Industries Representative" appeared my jaw hit the floor! Amazing, captivating gig - also worthy of a mention are the bassist (richard youngs) and drummer (alex nielson) who were utterly fantastic...

  • Recognizable in a second. Genius.

  • it's a human life...

  • Tabs?

  • Love outsider music but.....Jandek sucks.

  • I feel New York spirit in it. Not only music, but atmosphere of this show. Music brings to mind no wave movement. It's something like a lighter Swans. Just WOW.

  • @matibg lol

  • it just seems to make sense

  • I'd have trouble playing this b/c I wouldn't know where to go with it after the first minute

  • ...I made the decision.... to get real wild.

  • shit music

  • It's like listening in on a weird era where no Sonic Youth ever existed.

  • This is Jandekcellent!

  • i feel like a lot of people get into this because it's subculture, and then they get there and wonder what the hell happened to the past 2 hours of their lives

  • i'm down with music that's completely different, but if it sounds like dogshit, being different isnt enough to make it good

i guess now everyones gonna tell me i "dont get it"

  • It's Skeletor without his armor!

  • He looks like Johnnie and Edgar Winter's brother. But Jandek is so much more talented than them.

  • @tomthefunky What does "more talented" mean in the context you've just used it in?

  • @migbee: It was a joke.

  • SEQUELADO

  • I wonder if he knows "Oh Sheri"?

  • I wonder what his bandmates think: "Is he really doing this? Should we just keep going? ehh whatever gets me paid..."

  • fucking immense.

  • this needs to be on mainstream everything for all eternity

  • jandek thinks he is so cool

  • a turd, though you know nothing about it, is still a turd.

  • Oh my god, he actually has sheet music.

  • This is the first time I've heard his music, a friend said he was "artistic"

Is this supposed to be a joke? It's one thing doing whatever you want, but this is like giving monkeys some instruments and recording whatever noise they make.

    This music is vocal diarrhea.

At least the drums are tuned correctly...

  • @triqqey kind like Chacarron Macarron?

  • "I made the decision to get real wild."

  • just cacophony. See, LDS does have its uses.

  • Latter-Day Saints?

  • @GovernorLong Yes the LDS is the most sucessful flying saucer cult in history.

  • @ShawnHeld

HAHAHA indeed, finally LDS has a purpose besides spreading evil and hate.

Now LSD on the other hand. . .

  • @jeremymchacon LOL well done...I hoped someone would get that I was making a pun.

  • i find this oddly enjoyable! "good" performance!

  • help. i can only find Jandek "shredding".... are there any clips with original sound?

  • I have a 2 and 4 year old that sound exactly like this!

  • Good thing he has his sheet music onstage.

  • Jandek's music is purely a hobby for him. He mostly funds and records his music all by himself, due to the fact that his main job is as a stockbroker (Corwood Ind. shares a telephone number with Sterling Smith Corp., Smith's main source of income). So Jandek's music is purely for his own enjoyment. If anyone else likes it, that's pure chance as far as he's concerned.

  • Does anyone know what tunings he uses?

  • he hasent tune his guitar in mora than 20 or 30 years!!

  • @filthswans whatever you want...i guess.

  • I started liking this more when the vocals came in. I don't know though for you super music elitists out there. I don't think you are suppose to analyze this so much.

  • This....is creepy.

  • Hate musicians; love Jandek

  • Guff!

  • I just love this, music in its most authentic form.

  • Even though I find the concept and indeed the sound interesting (especially as an artist myself); I have a hard time listening to Jandek's music.

Do other people with classically trained ears enjoy Jandek on a regular basis? (not trying to be mean or anything, I'm just curious)

  • "Classically trained ears"? Good lord you are pretentious. You either enjoy something or you don't.

  • i don't think its just as simple as enjoying something or not. eg learning the back story of an artist can be truly part of the parcel that helps you feel/love it, y know the myth of it. i think that some music needs an introduction to prepare you for whats to come. Also your comment didn't need to be so aggressive he was being quote "curious" Anyway i those classical ears, first listen told me that i'm not in the right frame of mood to hear this but that day might be... tomorrow?

  • I'd kind of doubt it. To be honest with you, I actually find Jandek pretty difficult to listen to, and my admiration of his work comes from some inner level that isn't really cognitive, but not really instinctual, either. I just kind of feel it, in some weird way. I don't know if that's how other people understand it, but that's how I do. I'd never really go out of my way to call Jandek "good", but there's something about him that's very appealing.

  • What's with people insulting everybody who doesn't like this? Honestly, this is okay for maybe one listen for me. The Shaggs, on the other hand, actually have some creepy cool quality that I like for some reason.

  • this is good because, he does whatever the fuck he wants

  • 3:38 so sik!!!!!!!!!!

  • jandeks music is in the story and the story is in the music. he doesnt want you to know anything else.

  • he WOULD open in scotland first. because scotland is musically the fuckin coolest place ever. post-punk, anyone?

  • I think he made a pretty good decision.

  • Reading through all of these comments, I'm wondering how exactly something being totally uppity, elitist, a big joke on listeners, poorly made, poorly performed, over hyped and drawn out is automatically bad. Note that I'm not saying any of that, other people have, and even if they're right, who cares, does something being extremely awful and pointless immediately devalue it as art?

BTW, to the person who said fred frith is like jandek....I don't see it.

  • AND ANOTHER THING! People who say this is the weirdest music ever, or the hardest to listen to ever, or the worst music ever, you have a lot of learning to do.

and is there anything wrong with taking artistic value from something that has none on its own? Think about a car crash, do you think the person causing it did so to make an artistic statement? Probably not. It's probably ugly and noisey, but it can still seem beautiful to the right eyes

  • jandek did the wash.

  • and i bet he does a damn good job at it too

  • What else could he do?

  • TRAIN WRECK!!

  • I dont know what it is about jandek, but it always makes sense to me. It did the first time I heard it. Usually when I hear music for the first time that is radically non-standard and discordant I can appreciate some aesthetic things about it or find it stimuating, but I don't have an experience right away where I can connect with it. That always takes time or doesn't happen at all. But hearing Jandek for the first time was like hearing a language I didn't know I would understand.

  • Extremely interesting.

    Fucking extremely.

  • I love Jandek - he even does his own laundry.

  • Everyone who says this pretentious bullshit is enjoyable is just saying that so they can seem more "Sophisticated" or more "Open Minded". Fuck it this is boring and stupid and by no means music.

  • So because you don't like it, it's not good. Right ok... What should we be listening to oh wise one?

  • nah, I think it's got a great feeling. Maybe you should just make the decision to get real wild and get it over with.

  • says the person with the username "kentuckyfriedjew".

  • brilliant

  • fair play! id book him just for the fact everyone else on the stage was better than him and he knew it! :-)

  • Jesus,this is so fucking fascinating !

I could never imagine dissonaces could be so beautiful before.

    Just wow.

  • god I love how free almost hectic the instrumentation is. it just dawned on me that you might even call it real wild. but man, only Jandek could make a kick ass song that's this strange.

  • ♥

  • Good grief!

You know, I can understand the appeal of Daniel Johnston, Jad Fair and other 'primitive artists'.

    I'm a Dogbowl fan.

But THIS. I'm astounded at the AUDACITY (and a little in awe too) of the claim that this is anything other than ABSOLUTE DRECK!

Wakey wakey folks. Slappy slap around the chops now.

Jandek maybe is a little smarter than his performance gives him credit for and is undertaking an experiment in GULLIBILITY.

    Count me out Mr. Jandek.

  • Jesus!

  • Now I really like that - that's entertainment!

  • It would have been way cool to have been there and think, "this guy kind of sounds like Jandek, and then realize that it was Jandek"

His voice kind of sounds like David Byrne here.

  • according to wikipedia celine dion has sold more than 200 million albums. I don't know anyone that o
