One of the most hilarious, depressing and nasty things that was ever done to me was when my (drunken) friend played this song loudly in the backround and laughed, while I said bye to my girlfriend before she moved 1700km away! What a jerk!
@PoisonedJuice fuck you, my grandma had ovarian cancer, and I have volunteered at the hospital and seen terminally ill kids, so I know what it is and how bad it is.

This song makes me feel like all that pain, all that pretence, all that i put up with each day and then there is this that tells me I'm not alone. It wears me out, everyday.
to me this song says that just because your problems aren't as bad as a lot of other peoples doesn't mean they can't (or shouldn't) wear you out. Stop trying to hold them above your head, and rest them back on your sholders.
I think a lot more people in the world can learn from this song. It's a 90s version of Little Pink Houses by Bob Dylan. I think people are looking and living like they were bought off a shelf. Who wants to live with someone like that or live that way? I hate cookie cutters.
@kkeithor i think that if we didnt have to discover good music on our own we wouldnt fully appreciate it. when i heard radiohead through a friend and looked them up on my own i was so thankful to be hearing real music i thought i might cry. i dont think it would have been that way if i had heard it on the radio.
I felt the same way about my dads generations music in the 60 & 70s,being born in 1980.I wonder if one day someone will look at this years music as good if it just progressively will get worse.We are the consumer,if we keep buying crap they'll keep making it.
I miss it when my Mom would push me in the shopping cart. My world cracked a little when she said I was too big for it anymore. I think then was the moment I knew I was gonna die. Childhood is over the moment you can't ride in the shopping cart.
@bongcouver Reminds me.. when I was 7 years I asked my mom to be in the stroller, and this younger kid. Came to the stroller, and said (in spanish) "MOM LOOK.. A BABY!" He pulled the stroller shade thing up.. & found me haha.
I've come to love every single song they've made, since its all really genius, but this, How To DIsappear Completely, Nude and Creep are my favorite of theirs...the emotion experienced listening to these almost send you to the point of tearing up...its just beautiful
@395276 Some people just only like nostalgia. I know many people who think the only time good music was made was in the 60s and 70s...in other words, the first music they ever got into is the only music they'll ever get into. Sucks, but music has evolved. I had someone the other day ask me "it sucks that there is nothing out their like Guns and Roses anymore...why aren't their bands like that anymore?" My answer "because it's been done, time to move on."
@eyehategumbo They exist. Today's Radiohead is........Radiohead. They didn't go anywhere. Also, at this time, it's not like Radiohead ruled the world. There were just as many shit bands then too. People just don't remember them b/c they weren't memorable.
Hey does anybody know the name of the Radiohead song that includes the lyrics "so far away". It's a very sad and powerful song. I heard it about 9 years ago on the radio. But, they never gave the title. please drop by my channel and leave me a message if anyone knows. Please let me know.
I find this song to be fairly unremarkable... Of course Thom Yorke's voice is great, but the music itself is fairly bland, and I find the lyrics unimaginative. Which is strange, because I always found radiohead to be the opposite of bland and unimaginative.
This song reminds me of her, because she said to me that it reminds her of me. Now that she is with him, this is all I have of her....memories. Fake Plastic Trees reminds me of her now in only the best possible way.
Wow. Here I thought I was the only "creep," the sole weirdo, who found this to be, not just one of Radiohead's greatest songs, but one of the absolute greatest, most moving songs ever put to tape. & 1995! Seems like an incredibly long time ago. Perhaps it was? But what happened to music this profound? When bands like Radiohead, Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve, et al. put out music that made even radio worth enduring? It was a Renaissance all its own. I'm just thankful to have been there.
@BehaviorModific.... true. whilst i cant compare any of those bands to radiohead, they still made the radio a much more tolerable place than it is today. all i hear is lil wayne. people lke me who grew up listining to this bullshit of the 2000's wont let it go on much longer, as soon as we get astuido.
who knows...... I believe music must have a meaning, a story, an lining of reasoning that fits into our world. The music of today obvious doesn't show that, only people like you and me can sit back and listen to what inspires our ears, and what gives us the true reality of REAL music that is Radiohead, the Beatles, Oasis, Explosions in the Sky, U2, the the list can go on and on, but I guess time defeats all in the end.....
@BehaviorModification very unfortunate what happened to oasis and the verve. nowadays i could care less about the smashing pumpkins, it seems like radioheads the only band from the 90's other than pearl jam to actuall mature in a positive way
Down with pop music today its terrible music has devolved, not moving foward as an art form at all just a cash in. i think that the people who buy that shit pop music dnt really lyk it they just cant get anything else and dnt know how to, dnt know where to find and have friends in the same position so cant even get new music from there mates its shocking
funnythit423 member when people got made fun of for being terrible like her at rapping? When did that get to be acceptable? Computer doesn't really even help that much. I've heard farts that sound better. Maybe we could distort it with a computer, put it over a backbeat, call ourselves artists and get on the radio. We'll make millions. Probably even a grammy. Are you down?
kind of. i think it's about falsity in general, with particular emphasis on the way in which we present ourselves as someone more desirable, but ultimately we cannot fake ourselves forever. "if i could be who you wanted, all the time". perhaps we feel that our real self just isn't good enough for other people.
I don't know what it's like to try and be somebody else... I was aware of how shallow the world is at a very young age - I had the intelligence to transcend that and now at the age I am I feel better for that - the world is full of cunts but if you can try and not be one, you can make a life's worth of difference
There is good music out now, you are just not looking hard enough. Shins and Black Keys, both great. Problem is you are getting older and getting stuck in your era of music because you aren't exposed to new stuff anymore.
thank you! why is it that 80s-90s music is wayyyyy better than now (with few exceptions for maybe brand new etc). money and talent (and physical appearance AHEM) are very different things.
Most songs I have heard in my life I have always thought i could add something here or there to make it better to me. This song cant be improved in my opinion. Its true Art.

Why can't people accept that the music of every generation changes?
Just because now is different, it doesn't mean that now sucks. Maybe the range of music you listen to is just not broad enough to be open minded.

@BehaviorModification
who knows......
Like a lost story, all shall behind time..

@BehaviorModification very unfortunate what happened to oasis and the verve. nowadays i could care less about the smashing pumpkins, it seems like radioheads the only band from the 90's other than pearl jam to actuall mature in a positive way

Down with pop music today its terrible music has devolved, not moving foward as an art form at all just a cash in. i think that the people who buy that shit pop music dnt really lyk it they just cant get anything else and dnt know how to, dnt know where to find and have friends in the same position so cant even get new music from there mates its shocking

this is THE shit!!! this music we got today like that kesha bitch has no talent what so ever.she jus uses compters to make herself sound better.
funnythit423 1 year ago 5
funnythit423 member when people got made fun of for being terrible like her at rapping? When did that get to be acceptable? Computer doesn't really even help that much. I've heard farts that sound better. Maybe we could distort it with a computer, put it over a backbeat, call ourselves artists and get on the radio. We'll make millions. Probably even a grammy. Are you down?

@gundog168 sure but i can already ACTUALLY sing

This video could have been all dark and broody and junked up with melodrama but instead it is ... brilliant.

This music is so too beautiful.

I am glad I am happy with my salsa, otherwise I would just listen to these mother fuckers all day and take oxycotton until I die, happy.

wwould it be fair to say that this song is about materialism?
hmmm2009Interesting 1 year ago
@hmmm2009Interesting
kind of. i think it's about falsity in general, with particular emphasis on the way in which we present ourselves as someone more desirable, but ultimately we cannot fake ourselves forever. "if i could be who you wanted, all the time". perhaps we feel that our real self just isn't good enough for other people.

You've summed it up perfectly.

that was pretty deep for a Liverpool fan ;)
I don't know what it's like to try and be somebody else... I was aware of how shallow the world is at a very young age - I had the intelligence to transcend that and now at the age I am I feel better for that - the world is full of cunts but if you can try and not be one, you can make a life's worth of difference

I miss good music like this... so creative and full of talent. Music now sucks. Rock on Radiohead

could not agree more, its a shame music is in such a low state at the moment.

There is good music out now, you are just not looking hard enough. Shins and Black Keys, both great. Problem is you are getting older and getting stuck in your era of music because you aren't exposed to new stuff anymore.

@EmersonSCorder Radiohead is Now..

thank you! why is it that 80s-90s music is wayyyyy better than now (with few exceptions for maybe brand new etc). money and talent (and physical appearance AHEM) are very different things.
