Why we can not dig kanals like in Europe and China to eliminate floods in great degree. If we use our few Million of prizoners for earth work (digging etc) we can save land from future tragedies. We can also learn from more developed countrieds like Germany, Poland, Russia and their methods of defending from flood.
The media didnt cover the flood here oh well. We took care of our own. We are not all white trash hicks either. And FEMA or the "flood insurance" I had didnt do jack except say they couldnt help. We got some friends together and gutted the house ourselves and toughed it out like americans should. Its a year later almost and the flood is still in the back of our minds, our hearts, and our wallets, but we shall come out on top.

Even with a recent rain storm that came through, this part of I-24 flooded AGAIN with 8 inches of water on the roads... Luckily that receded quickly and didn't cause any substantial damage/fatalities.

I was an Army Brat and I don't have a problem with military pay and benefits. They get a signing bonus, combat pay, and they don't have to pay income taxes during combat! Was it confusing when they signed up that there might be combat? I dont get not paying income taxes when you have combat pay already. We are paying for their service and we are paying their taxes. I'm from Miami, but went to college in Nashville and lived there for 7 yrs. Used to live in Antioch off of Bell Road so this video hurts just watching.
I live in Franklin, TN., in Williamson County. (One of the counties declared for FEMA.) This flood was absolutely terrible. As you can see, buildings,cars, fences, trees, and much more was floating down streets nearby. From 5 dead, to 28 dead. It goes to show just how awful this truly was. Unless you were there, you can't even begin to imagine. I have lived in TN all my life and we are a very strong state with very strong, wonderful, caring people. We have raised nearly 2 million for victims. :)
I was visiting Nashville this day and was amazed to see people continuing to drive down I-24 deeper and deeper into the water... in 30 min's or so, the water was up from the bumper to the windshields, soon after to the roof. These people had to be rescued - FOLKS... do NOT drive into deep water... the odds of it getting deeper are better than the odds of you driving out of it!

This is right behind my apts...we are up a little hill on the banks of Mills Creek...that's all that saved us. Where this building sat always flooded to some degree or another...as it's flat on the other side of the creek..but NEVER has anything come loose like this and floated around or away.
I like how people have been commenting on these videos about this horrible flood saying we want pity when it wasnt even televised as anything bad on a national standard until a while after it hapened. Bleach does not kill mold. All these people who think that cleaning things with bleach will kill mold are wrong. I suggest people educate themselves on this because the mold issues in the future will be far more worse than this flood was.
@SparkinNparkin Authorities have been telling people that a bleach mix of 1:10 ratio is what is needed to clean areas that might mold. Why will this not work? I have used products like tilex in a spay bottle and it seems to work, at least visably it does not come back.
Ask any mold removal specialist and they will tell you it's not effective. They use a fungicide to combat mold (a fungus).You can believe what ever you want but at least do a little research and call mold removal specialist and ask. Do a google search and type in " does bleach kill mold "

That's very close to where I live... I'm off of Hickory Hollow Parkway, which is the next exit from Bell Road... I remember watching this from where I was stranded at for the weekend in awe...
Even with a recent rain storm that came through, this part of I-24 flooded AGAIN with 8 inches of water on the roads... Luckily that receded quickly and didn't cause any substantial damage/fatalities.

I live in Franklin, TN., in Williamson County. (One of the counties declared for FEMA.) This flood was absolutely terrible. As you can see, buildings,cars, fences, trees, and much more was floating down streets nearby. From 5 dead, to 28 dead. It goes to show just how awful this truly was. Unless you were there, you can't even begin to imagine. I have lived in TN all my life and we are a very strong state with very strong, wonderful, caring people. We have raised nearly 2 million for victims. :)

I was visiting Nashville this day and was amazed to see people continuing to drive down I-24 deeper and deeper into the water... in 30 min's or so, the water was up from the bumper to the windshields, soon after to the roof. These people had to be rescued - FOLKS... do NOT drive into deep water... the odds of it getting deeper are better than the odds of you driving out of it!

This is right behind my apts...we are up a little hill on the banks of Mills Creek...that's all that saved us. Where this building sat always flooded to some degree or another...as it's flat on the other side of the creek..but NEVER has anything come loose like this and floated around or away.

FEMA (Which for the most part won't be here for 3-5 days) is coming after all the rescuing has taken place, over 1500 people rescued at least by now.
And FEMA isn't helping financially for 30 days.

@BurningS0uls How is it a slow response? Nobody expected it on Saturday. Sunday he was in the Gulf. Monday and Tuesday we got the news that aid is coming. Hell, Saturday I got the news that FEMA was coming from somebody that works for FEMA.

This is awful! I missed all of this mayhem on I-24 by just a few hours! It's unbelievable to see it. I am thankful no one I know was one of the ones floating down the interstate.

The US gives billions of dollars annually in aid to other countries, provides humanitarian support, forgives the debt of other countries and lends troops in times of military conflict!
