Actually... I think Gilmour, BB King, Clapton, Joe Satriani and Ynwgie doesn´t need to be here. First three are gigantic influences for every good guitar player today and they dont need to play fast shitty licks to be considered best world guitar players. I would argue that Keith Richard probably does belong on this list as a guitar player, but it's pretty hard to ignore his achievements as a songwriter and a purveyor of unforgettable riffs. Gilmour is slow, yes but conveys very much feeling and passion, same with Clapton, BB King or perhaps Santana. I even think, my eternal role model Zappa is overrated as a guitarist, I dare say, but he is the god of composing, arranging and crude humour... ;-)
