  • ROWSDOWER!

  • the 3.5 inch floppies carried 1.44 megs a piece.

  • Great video, but cant remember swapping discs in Tex Murphy being that bad, no worse then any of the other FMV games I played. You can now buy the Tex Murphy games for the GOG website for only 10 buck each., No more disc swapping.

  • Spoony I'm not letting you get away with telling people that The Journeyman Project is mediocre. Have you even played it?! The sequel is one of my favorite games, because not only is it a lot of fun and has a really fascinating backstory but you learn a lot about history by going to different time periods. The hammy acting was just something you expected.. It came with the territory. I recommend any history buff and/or adventure gamer to check out the Journeyman trilogy!

  • It seems the FMV era was a transition to incorporating smooth character motion into video games. Kinda like a bit of video game puberty.

  • @TheShinobiSan yeah, but like when puberty is over you want to forget about it as soon as possible.

  • Wings...

  • wingsofredemption

  • Im with ya spoony. I love under a killing moon has a terrible disc swap

  • Love seeing Phantasmagoria in here. Certainly not one of the greatest games, but certainly one of the most entertaining ones.

  • 2:39 The guy in the back looks like he's wearing Skywarp's cockpit chestpiece.

  • wow, you are a nerd.

  • 3:49 to 3:55 - So true dude, so true.

  • @Andyp12 also at around 7:55 it sounds like the opening song to "The Nightmare Before Christmas" also poop that poo few

  • Incidentally why does that klingon woman say "poo that poooo?"

  • Oh wow, my first pc was a windows 3.1, we could just about get lemmings, some educational word game about slime and the most brilliant game of all, 3d battle-chess, working on it.

Oh I also forgot, my uncle somehow managed to get dungeon keeper 95, I think, onto a bunch of floppy disks and get it to run, albeit without sound or the isometric visuals, plus it basically ran like a treacle sloth, stuck in a line at Tesco's that is being sprayed with super glue.

  • i had burn cycle lol

  • ROWSDOWER

  • let's play luigi's mansion

  • Whats in the Box!

  • god! lanse boyel is so not funny, its sad

  • Looking back on FMV games I now view them more as novelty than anything. They were a part of the evolution of games and have their place in history. Who knows? They may be highly collectible and valuable in the next 20 years or so.

  • PLEASE POST THAT KLINGON VIDEO ON ITS OWN. Fucking amazing.

  • Moar cauwbell 3:

  • you forgot the realms of the huanting it used disks like these

  • we played phantasmagoria in the dark when we were 16 or 17 wow that game was badass back then. loved it!

we need more FMV now :D

  • @originale4711

no we dont need fmv games ever agin

  • The first FMV game I ever played was Rebel Assault 2 on the PC.

  • FUCK YOU FMV OR DIE PUTO

  • Lance Boyle looks like Don Knotts.

  • my favorite fmv game was phantasmagoria 2 a puzzle of flesh i like it a little better than the first.

  • "Rowsdower!"

    You sir, win 1,000,000,000,000 internetz.

  • Mystery Case Files has been trying to bring FMV games back to PC for a few years. Last year they tried mixing it "Blair Witch Project" style.

  • 04:12 "Well who ordered pizza, I could sure go for a slice!"-Luigi Largo-Repo! The Genetic Opera.

  • @Echosofthemind hardly.

  • @KurtKokaine1 Sorry I do not understand your response. The guy practically says the same line.

  • @Echosofthemind I thought you were comparing personalities. my bad. in my opinion, Luigi is far more likeable and enjoyable to watch that this stupid fuck.

  • PERFECT. Just the type of vid I was looking for!

  • I wish you'd Lets Play Black Dahlia. That'd make my life :3

  • Yaaah CD technology we can make kick ass FMV games

20 years later: well we got half of that right, they had FMV and they were games, somewhat, but next time maybe when we promise to have an actor from a big name movie we better make sure said actor wasn't a body double or stuntman

  • who is the actor who played Quinland in Ripper?

  • "Let's order some pizza...With a little extra sauce! Ehahaha!"

  • Did... did I just get winked at by a retarded Colin Mochrie?

  • Too young (I was alive though) to remember their hey day, but I do remember playing an arcade FMV(The Aerosmith one) at a local resturuant quite often, good memories despite the fact I didn't like the game.

  • I have Ripper running on DOSBox, it's amazing.

  • 2:30 Look! its Mex-Pac

  • What MST3K episode was the clip from?

  • @Skinr54 Space Mutiny

  • "I could have used more cowbell!"

How ironic that Christopher Walken would later parody The Blue Oyster Cult on Saturday Night Live after appearing in that corny FMV game.

  • This guy, is un-fucking-believable

  • Got mud on your face. Big disgrace. Shoving those sandwiches into your face. We Will We Will Rowsdower!! We Will We Will Rowsdower!! (Sing it!)

  • 5:38...you're a funny knife-thrower Sully, that's why I'm gonna kill you last.

  • To paraphrase Chris Jericho: Lance Boyle, will you please SHUT THE HELL UP!

  • digital picutre make crapy games

  • WELCOME TO MY FACILITY.

    Great stuff. Love it.

  • Comment removed

  • omg i actually played most of these games! ah memories - these were my childhood yo!!!

  • don

  • I say Ripper deserves a DVD release!

  • Gotta love Dracula Unleashed though! Greatest game of all time

  • "Don't fear the reaper" has nothing to do with SOUNDING like "Don't fear the ripper"

The song is about facing death in the face.. which fits since you are about to go face to face with jack the ripper.

  • Ah Phantasmagoria, gotta love it. The creepiest scene for me was when that girl was killed by being force fed intestines. *shudder*

  • The sounds made it kinda fappable XD

  • XD

    "3 and a half megabyte" ... 3 and a half inches with 720kb > 1.4mb > 2mb (hardly used)

  • "Warriors...come out and plaaayay!"

    XD

    (see also 'Commando')

    Note: Referencing 'Seven' was genius.

  • I gotta say, Christopher Walken's pretty damn halarious

  • Oh Spoony, to think it's been more than two years of awesome entertainment!

  • crazy Don i love you

  • Wow, he actually showed the pendulum death in Phantasmagoria. That game was one on of the few entertainment pieces than actually freaked me out.

  • By the way, didn't Phantasmagoria have at least 7 discs?

  • @LordNifty

Yes. It blew in that aspect, other than that awesome game.

  • If you think that the MegaRace 1 version of Lance Boyle is annoying, check out Lance Boyle in MegaRace 3. He is even worse... and really weird

  • Torgo!! Spoony's an Mst3K fan.

  • Thank you Spoony for reminding me of the Journeyman Project. That game is so damn weird.

  • ROWSDOWER!!!

  • yor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3 1/2 INCH floppy, not 3 1/2 MB floppy. Standard storage capacity was 1.44 MB.

    I played "Dragon's Lair."

    ...

  • @RedDaVincy Also in the 90's the cd-roms only could hold 650mb until later when they crammed a total of 700mb

  • @aphixe

Actually thats not true. 650Mb and 700Mb CD's have exactly the same compression. 700Mb CD's simply take advantage of area at the edge of the disk that was reserved as being run off area(no data because getting too close to the edge of the disk). 700Mb simply take advantage of this "free space" As long as a CD-ROMs laser could track all the way to the edge of the disk you could take advantage of this extra area and read 700Mb CD's

  • 8:38

8 disks. YOU THINK THAT'S ENOUGH???

  • Insane how you could fit all of that onto a single DVD now, and think about how much you can put on a blu-ray.

  • Megarace 2 was one of my childhood games, and I shall defend its silliness to the DEATH.

  • i loved Riven and Myst III. those gane were the best. i still own all the Myst games.

  • Man, Riven is awesome

  • yes, thats it ^^

  • I remember Riven being FMV...ish

  • Id buy the Ripper for the fact of all my favorite actors

  • on 4:10 does don say "i thought it was a pizza! and this is the sause!"

  • I'm gonna have nightmares about Lance Boyle now.

  • "You don't get more owned than that!"

  • One thing not mentioned about "Critical path"...if you die, you have to sit through FMV stuff again...they make it hard to just "try again" You will die 20+ times on the first puzzle, too!

  • FMVS...I remember my cousin had bunch of those......

I know this is totally off subject....but do you remember a game that came out on Sega CD Starring Mark Hamil???

  • @0:11 Er...*over* 700 MB?

  • The whole cowbell setup is just perfect.

  • 5:42 Gaius Balthar , from Galactica LOL

  • Black Dahlia and the X-Files game I wanna play, somehow!

  • Phantasmagoria is a good game. Gabriel Knight 2 is great though, best FMV game ever made.

  • great stuff man!!

  • Kyle Reese thanks you for the wonderful gun.

  • wasinthabaaaaaaawks?

  • i cant wait to see how ripper turns out

  • fmv are a gulity pleasure for me i got Mad dog 2, Drug Wars, Dragons Lair and Space ace, and im looking for more

  • Rowsdower!

  • I still like his comment about how it's an era of gaming being forgotten.

Anyone born after 1993 probably hasn't even heard of these types of games, and everyone else is just forgetting them and can't get them working usually

Being forgotten not just since they are nearly impossible to get working, but are almost entirely pointless compared to just playing todays games

  • What's in the boooooooox?

  • u know what spoony ur awesome

  • I'll say it: Making FMV games nowadays the way they did then would be cheap as can be, and everyone would buy it. SOMEONE GET TO WORK!!!

Half the stuff released by Z-grade game companies today almost match the glory of these old games, but remain, as did their forefathers, too unfunny in their unintentional horribility.

  • lmao Rowsdower

  • The awful use of green screen technology is what makes these games seem so horrible, that and bad camera direction.

  • Crappy CGI and ideas too right?

  • The only games that had FMV sequences in it that were actually good were Wing Commander 3 and 4. They both had some damn good acting. I especially liked the ending of 4 with Mark Hamill and Malcom McDowell verbally sparring with each other. Good times.

  • don't forget that Tom "Biff Tannen" Wilson was also in there

  • Ripper looks like it was a decent FMV game, with a pretty epic cast. Now I kinda wanna play it in some ways.

  • and Iron Helix, was one awesome game back in the day.

    1.44mb btw, not 3.5mb lol.

  • Floppies held, at most, 1.4 megabytes, not 3.5.

    3.5 inch, not MB.

  • I really have to agree with his claim that it's this "weird little era of gaming that is being slowly forgotten"

I was born in 1990, and all I remember is a little bit of Rebel Assault, and a little bit of 7th guest, and I don't even remember them too well also

And no one talks about FMV games these days, they're so tough to find and get running now

  • Karen Allen?

  • can i link the 3 videos to my blog ??

of couse i will put a link to your youtube account.

    last-remnant . blogspot

  • A woman's body is a beautiful thing, but the head is useless!

  • Lance Boil? If he's ever had a boil, he'd know it's not funny at all. I just had one. NOT FUN.

  • ZAP ROSSdWODER! lol

  • 2:50 that part was pretty funny, what movie was that from?

  • Youtube ate comment. Summary:

    A) J Project awesome. Pegasus Prime awesomer. Tripled cast by adding two one-dimensional actors.

    B) FMV games, as done then, would be dirt cheap now. They would also be very popular. Profit would be astronomical.

Someone plz make an old-school FMV game! I want Zhadnost 2 dammit!

  • They're movin they're movin. Good god i luv that part

  • About the flopy disket it actually only holds 1.44MBs so a CD was = to almost 700 diskets.

  • Noah probably meant 3.5 inch floppy 1,44 megabytes each.

  • The Journeyman Project was cool for a free game in my first PC.

  • HAHAHA rosdower

  • Owned

  • Christopher Walken? Jesus Christ he really does do anything

  • I haven't played a single one. The only good Mega/Sega CD game is Snatcher.

  • what about sonic cd?

  • Fortunately, the only FMV games I've played are Phantasmagoria and Harvester (the latter one is pretty good for a game, not just for an FMV game).

Phantasmagoria is just OK but apparently it's better than an FMV game in general.

  • all this gets me sad. realy realy sad.

  • :50

    "Shooting Beaver"

    Seriously?

  • BTW, if I might add this, they had a Zork game with FMV in it.

  • Woo, se7en reference.

  • Hey Ripper, I have that game, it was pretty good, could have been better but for an FMV game, it was good.

  • Don bluth should base FMV games on all his movies.

  • His animation studios also worked on the point n' click adventure game Circle of Blood which is also Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars.

  • So that's where Kevin Spacey has been! Trapped in your robot.

  • LUCKY i cant even get 7th guest to work

  • hm, I believe I've managed to get it to work on windows XP, but my copy is, naturally, quite old, and in a family with three different children, it got somewhat damaged. same thing happened with The 11th Hour.

  • i have installed 11th hour but it wont work

  • I never managed to get it to work either, but it is probably because my disks were damaged. I did manage to get it working on my old, family computer, but that was a while ago, and it windows 95. perhaps you could run a windows 95 emulator.

  • You have to download something to get it going, I got it working.

  • SpoonyOne is cool

  • Noo!! Poor Burton

  • snatcher for the sega CD was awesome man

  • Awesome Seinfeld.

  • Loved the 'Seven' spoof. LOL

  • And Zelda Faces of Evil.

  • Not as a child in school, on Aspergers syndrome, with no pills.

  • Are some Uruk-Hai using a crystal oscillator with a fast rise time at 8:10? Not only are they on the wrong frequency, they aren't even the same BAND, this is like my WiFi router mechanically vibrating to the sound of AM Radio Disney... I remember in 2003-2005 or so on AOL I was arguing with 'the pig goes' for 3 hours that there were absolutely *0* (zero) good consoles in from the time the Genesis/SNES faded until the Playstation 1 came out. You proved I was right.

  • I really want to punch Lance Boyle in the face :D

  • A crazy man with the ultimate pimp slap and decapiating lights!God save us all!

  • When Christopher Walken demands more cowbell, YOU ADD MORE FUCKING COWBELL.

  • Thanks I didn't have the misfortune of playing through that FMV classic. I'll have to check out his review.

  • Also, what was the game where the guy mentions "Tube Steak" ?? LOL...

  • Weird, I don't remember the scalping scene, I do remember the sex scene though.

  • Hey, I'm Lance Boyle and it doesn't hurt a bit.

  • Rowsdower!

  • thats Zap Rowsdower to you, Boy!

  • rowsdower! XD

    perfect timing

  • I used to play megarace on pc all the time. The Fmv's sucked but were so bad it made me laugh.

  • @4:36; damn she got owned.

  • seirra also made police quest 4.

  • wow...kung fu daggers!

  • Every game could use a little Rowsdower.

  • Who can stop this mad pirate?

  • only YOU can stop this mad pirate

  • lol u can not get much more owned then that!
