There is no such thing in america as a TRUE WAR ON Drugs. Smoke and mirrors folks, it's called "Population Control". How long has this whole war on drugs been going on for now and it will continue on going forward with not much changing about it. If we're told there's a difference being made, there probably isn't. It's ALWAYS been and ALWAYS will be here.
i think its called white hope ironically, but not because of the white race but cocaine, see, in the beginning you see "last white hope" fade away like dust>>>meaning cocaine, but thats just my opinion I MIGHT BE WRONG :)
fuck sake you yanks could do with taking on glasgows drug policy. get caught with small ammounts of green-you get a fine.if you get caught with say,a kilo of green, you will get a few months inside.get caught with an ounce of coke, you will get a few months inside at most.fuck me,my neighbour got caught with250 000 pounds worth of smack, got 7 years in jail, out in 3 and a half for good behaviour.

You know those "evil" countries that the media always talks so much about? A country that is corrupt and violent and you are taught throughout your life to hate unconditionally? Look, I'm 16 y/o, I'm not an expert when it comes to running a country, but this is MY opinion. I'm not a regular drug user but I still this whole drug war is ridiculous.
Why do we take history class people? TO LEARN FROM THAT PAST & NOT REPEAT MISTAKES. What are we doing here? REPEATING MISTAKES.
In the 1920s the Prohibition prohibited alcohol. What did that lead to? The creation of mobs, increased crime and money spent on trying to stop that crime, & guess what else? THE INCREASE OF ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION.
Leetfx is absolutely correct, prohibition breeds criminality. If we stop spending millions of dollars on enforcing such laws then maybe that money will FINALLY go towards education and my generation will be well educated so we don't have to sell drugs on the corner.
Are UNCONSTITUTIONAL? or Are Constitutional? The government has no right to pass laws against personal freedom that does not infringe on the freedoms of others. Drug laws are un-American. Prohibition never works, never.
The constitution gives the legislator(congress) the right to create laws which it deems necessary. The supreme court then rules on the constutionality of the laws based on the amendments, the bill of rights is the most famous set of amendments. The people at any given time can give up freedoms for a cause they deem worthy through the means of their representatives. If the court rules the law unconstitutional and they really want it they can always amend the constitution to fit their cause
Thanks for the lesson on we the people. I know this. I am a patriot. I believe that the federal government does not have the right to rule me. Thats what you just said. I understand. Im the choir.
then you think your state has the power to rule you? Or perhaps your community, your father ect. Somewhere rules and socialization happens which rules your life its inevitable even in a libertarian society because there is still society
think you misunderstand. Personal Sovereignty is granted to me by virtue of being alive. For the people by The People. Im no anarchist, I am a patriot and I believe our government was set up to allow me the right to self rule. Big Brother is not my baby sitter and a crime has not been committed where there is no victim. American idea of government has been hijacked. Plain and simple. Can't buy pot but i can buy rat poison cheap at the grocery store. Prohibition is not freedom.
a communist would believe everyone would eventually achieve unlimited liberty/freedom. Something that i think is impossible. And socialist well thats just stupid. Im more of a free market anarchist
A free market anarchist. Friend, that is what the founding fathers set up, small government with the power in the hands of the people and free market. That is what is being raped from us.
The fact that you use the term 'drugs' as a blanket statement shows that you' don't know what you're talking about.
Yes, meth & cannabis are the same thing. Of course, mushrooms & heroin have the exact same affect on a person. DMT & crack have the same moral & social implications.
Bullshit.
Have you ever taken 'drugs', do you mind me asking? You have experienced what you're condemning, haven't you?
Bah, this documentary lost all its credibility when I found at least 1 subliminal message when they were talking about Oliver North and a few other "blinks" that looked like they were also subliminal messages.
well the drug war is obsolete! its wayy easier for kids to get meth or cocaine, than a playboy magazine or cigarettes. and thats ANY kid in america ANYY. if they wanted to get rid of meth theyd alter the ingredients used in the manufacrure, that easy. by this weekend it would be gone forever!!! cocaine? go to the source its only 1-2 counrties that produce the worlds supply! but the feds want us on drugs, this is how they pay for WARS N SHIT!, wake the FUCK up america! FUCKKK!
hmm well I tend to consider the facts when thinking about things, not fantasy - which is why I tend to usually be right in these cases. But I have known to be wrong about my opinions not based on facts.
Well, Sherlock. What have the relevant facts shown you to make you believe that anyone that disagrees with you on this current topic is a laughable "nut case"?
I'm just here to point out: With that sort of attitude; you're immediately wrong.
Although, those must be some pretty impressive facts you have. Facts that I have yet to see if they're as conclusive as you'd lead me to believe.
Are they somehow contrary to the simply fact that prohibition breeds criminality, violence & disease?
So what exactly points to the idea that the United States as a society will ever legalize drugs? And I can list every single study on illegal drugs to prove my point that society will never consent to the legalization of those drugs we now classify as elicit. And you're getting on me about pointing out someone is wrong by calling me wrong - how ironic can you get?
Firstly, you stated people who think drugs should (not would) be legal were 'nut cases'. That's what I called you on, so don't weasel out of your original point.
Don't say something unless you mean it.
I pointed out you were wrong because you have such an attitude towards something you seem to know nothing about.
'Drugs' have been a huge part of human society since before history. Still are. They're not going away. & as I said: prohibition breeds criminality.
there is no fuckin war on drugs..if they can go to another country and war why the fuck they cant stop drugs from crossin the us borders..al tell you why ITS! NO FUCKING WAR!!!
@bostonjoemattson OK. Making tons of money for elements in the gummint is ONE of the things the War on Drugs was supposed to do. Helping to build the police state, acclimating fools to believing lies they are told, and just generally terrorizing the population is another.
oh and the whole 80% of cop shootings things, if cops didnt have to aresst people while they were they high they wouldnt have that problem, the laws basicly created the problems
Why the hell do they have to add in this "last white hope" BS? I'm white and I smoke pot. I'm caught up in this crap too. Lets not make it a white vs black thing, this is the citizens vs bad government policy.
Its people at the top (who are white yes). They are the ones who believe in White Supremacy. In order for that to continue they use segragation- discrimination-racist-tricky birth control tactics to keep the controversy going. Stop smoking now.
don't worry, it's not about white vs black; it is just about " controllers of joe6pakrich who happen to be white people " vs "vast majority of drug users." it does not concern minorities, such as white drug users or non-drug using black people.
Watch the film and u will understand why they use that phrase...it IS a white and black hing im afraid...and im white and so are the people who made the documentary...watch it, it explains it better than i can in 500 charecters!
Legalize drugs and there will be no more huge profits for the black market which is where the violence is coming from. Prohibition spawns all of the serious problems related to drugs. Educating people with the truth about drugs and their effects and using all the money wasted on the drug war to help addicts is really the only answer. Prohibition does not work and never will.
"Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law', because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual."
-Thomas Jefferson
Fuck the law, do what you want as long as you don't harm others.
All you need to bring up to someone who is anti-drugs is the 4th amendment of the Constitution. "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
What is more private than what we put in our own bodies?
The DEA is nothing but a repository for testosterone fueled cowards and sociopaths who routinely invade the homes of American citizens using excessive force! My fondest wish is that every DEA agent suffer acute pain and not be able to find a doctor to treat their pain because of their own policies! They are totally out of control. Self aggrandizing and self perpetuating.
Well after searching google, I found a link to dailymotion. Finally watched it. Wow! Definitely one of the best documentaries I have ever seen. I want to buy it now to show everyone. I also want a major screening of this enlightening documentary in movie theatres across the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some states made it legal to buy& sell medical marijuana. The oversized federal govt (thru the rigged and bought supreme court) overruled the states rulings.
Also, Tommy chong in this video says that because he was being charged by the feds that the conviction rae is 98%. In other words the fed does what it wants to. The Tommy Chong arrest was absurd. They even took 20,000cash that he had in his house.
Why is Marijuana the number 1 cash crop in the US? Who is growing it and what are they doing with it? I don't understand how it is our number one crop when it's illegal!
And did Congress even officially ratify the drug war through any sort of bill in the 1970s?? Or did they just take Nixon's dumbass word for it after he declared "war on drugs"? Where in the Constitution does it say the president can just make political wars on nouns that he wants at any given time and shift the direction of this nation forever in one fell swoop, without even asking Congress its opinion?? The Drug War is unconstitutional, just like prohibition would've been w/o an amendment.
Last but not least, consider this: Do you REALLY want the state to rule your lives in such a huge way? Do you really want the state to tell you "Don't do drugs. We'll arrest you because we know what's best. Listen to us"? I mean, come on! The Drug War is like "1984" in America. I for one don't want that. The state should stay out of our personal lives. The culture and community of America must dominate and determine its future, not some half-wit bozos in Washington.
Why are we so wary with regards to state power either on economics or social policy (depending on your affiliation), but we give Congress and the exec. branch free reign over drugs, with absolutely no accountability? Do you really trust the gov't with fighting a drug "problem"? They'd make up anything they wanted, even if the problem were minimal, just to continue receiving funding and keep their anti-drug offices from being shut down. Authoritarian gov'ts suck ass. This is America!
Besides, when was the last time Congress actually held deep investigations into the efficacy of the drug war? Even during Iran-Contra, we didn't! Even after we learned the CIA had been shipping drugs in and out of this country for years! Even after we learned about Pablo Escobar, or Manuel Noriega being on CIA payroll to keep him quiet about drug trafficking. Are these the kind of 'trustworthy' officials to listen to on drug policy? I think not. Drug wars are a scam.
The way to break a monopoly on ANYTHING is to introduce choice. If you wanna break the gov't monopoly on schools (that are crap in the US), give parents vouchers and enforce competition. If you wanna improve gov't efficiency, it's oftentimes a good idea to contract the services to the private sector with bidding. 9 times out of 10, competition works well. However, I am certainly not a Friedmanite on economics. I encourage incentives and competition but do not advocate privatizing all.
The only reason dangerous traffickers have any kind of power is because what they are doing is illegal, and people have no other alternative but to buy from or sell to them. Of course, this does not mean that people like child traffickers should be barred from punishment, but drug trafficking and whore-trafficking by pimps, for example, could easily be stopped if we had better access to brothels in appropriate areas with legal prostitution and decriminalized (at least) drug use.
If FARC and the terrorists in Afghanistan and other drug gangs had no one to sell to because it was easier for adults to possess by legally buying safe, corporate-made versions of drugs like marijuana in a convenience store (with ID carding by cashier, of course), they'd make no money! If we treat it as a public health problem and make it available for adults but encourage responsibility and regulate it enough, we can eventually indirectly wipe out drug lords. They lose their power.
this movie/documentary i somewhat biased but its biased in my favor and i agree with almost every word in this film. its an eye opener. and really make you think.
The most destructive force in society isn't drugs; it's the drug war that drives up the price of drugs and makes dealing them so attractive to criminals & terrorists, while flooding the prisons, devouring resources, and turning city neighborhoods into free-fire zones. . It's time for us all to take courageous steps to re-evaluate a failed policy.
"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right," ---Thomas Paine
Drug wars fail in every single country they're put into action in. The Plan Colombia project is nothing but a bunch of a bullshit, and it sure as hell isn't working to weaken the terrorists FARC. Plus, it's screwing over farmers who have nothing else to grow and make money off of nowadays except coca. The whole world should do like the Dutch do with drugs. There is no excuse for prohibition of drug use or possession by harmless, law-abiding folks who just want a hit.
Legalized drugs fail in every country they have been introduced to as well. The answer is not in legalizing drugs and not in confining the user. The answer is in treating drug abuse as a health issue, and a moral issue as well.
then what about booze? That causes more deaths and driving accidents than being high on weed ever did, perhaps even some other less hard drugs as well. Plus, weed is impossible to OD on or get addicted to.
While there is no such thing as a safe drug, weed is obviously not as dangerous as other intoxicants, therefore, I do not have a problem with legalized weed. Legalizing cocaine, heroin, etc. would be disastrous.
You are incorrect that weed is not addictive. I was addicted to it for years. Any mind altering chemical can be addictive.
Btw, how many countries do you know of that have actually legalized drugs?? Even Holland's policy isn't legalization; it's swift decriminalization with some restrictions and fines for possession outside certain designated areas. Some countries actually can give you the death penalty just for possession! Lol! If the price of drug freedom is a relative few more deaths here and there from idiots with no self-control, I'll still support it. You should have the right to consume whatever you want
True, I should have said decriminalization, which is a form of limited legalization. Were drugs like cocaine or heroin to ever be legalized or decrimnalized here (will never happen) it would be more than a few deaths and it would not be just users. Addicts frequently cause the deaths of innocents.
the drug war is such a retarted concept, it doesent work and quite frankly it makes america look like a bunch of faggots. fuck this country. everyone hates americans because they see the people that run our country and our policies and they think were all a bunch of stupid fat dumb assholes
too bad what you said makes no sense because every day people are falling over themselves to get to this country, legally or illegally.
cocaine, heroin, absinthe, ecstasy, LSD, Speed, practically every drug i can think of was legal at one time and it was a taint on society and resulted in many addictions and deaths. i don't see how legalizing and then taxing these deadly vices would solve anything, they were already legal at one time.
It couldn't have been that much more 'deaths and addictions' than today. I'm pretty sure the entire country wasn't high before the war on drugs started.
i say that because you cant stop people from doing drugs. its people own choice what they do with their body and if they wanna get addicted to coke then thats their problem. but you cant put a shitload of people in jail and punish them for making the concious decision to use a drug. oh and what addictions and deaths were caused by lsd?
treatment and rehabilitation over incarceration, though prison is not out of the question if an addict becomes a problem for the community. as for addictions and deaths from LSD, what are you kidding me? there are countless cases of people going insane on a bad trip and harming themselves or others. you can't be suggesting it is harmless drug, this isn't the 60s anymore, we've learned alot since then.
in the Film, Sherrif Joe reveals he EATS MUSHROOMS! (while he makes his inmates eat green spoiled bologni sandwiches). Isn't making people where long jump suits living in tents in 118 degree weather seem like torture? all for a joint?

Thanks.

So right! Drug laws are unconstitutional.
jrc3ky 2 years ago
Actually they are.
mikeyooh7 2 years ago
Are UNCONSTITUTIONAL? or Are Constitutional? The government has no right to pass laws against personal freedom that does not infringe on the freedoms of others. Drug laws are un-American. Prohibition never works, never.
jrc3ky 2 years ago
The constitution gives the legislator(congress) the right to create laws which it deems necessary. The supreme court then rules on the constutionality of the laws based on the amendments, the bill of rights is the most famous set of amendments. The people at any given time can give up freedoms for a cause they deem worthy through the means of their representatives. If the court rules the law unconstitutional and they really want it they can always amend the constitution to fit their cause
mikeyooh7 2 years ago
If the law deals with the structure of the government then it is not organized in the amendments but can still be amended.
mikeyooh7 2 years ago
Thanks for the lesson on we the people. I know this. I am a patriot. I believe that the federal government does not have the right to rule me. Thats what you just said. I understand. Im the choir.
jrc3ky 2 years ago
then you think your state has the power to rule you? Or perhaps your community, your father ect. Somewhere rules and socialization happens which rules your life its inevitable even in a libertarian society because there is still society
mikeyooh7 2 years ago
think you misunderstand.

You have experienced what you're condemning, haven't you?

lastminuteregret 2 years ago
Well, Sherlock. What have the relevant facts shown you to make you believe that anyone that disagrees with you on this current topic is a laughable "nut case"?
I'm just here to point out: With that sort of attitude; you're immediately wrong.
Although, those must be some pretty impressive facts you have. Facts that I have yet to see if they're as conclusive as you'd lead me to believe.
Are they somehow contrary to the simply fact that prohibition breeds criminality, violence & disease?
Lsdfunk 2 years ago
So what exactly points to the idea that the United States as a society will ever legalize drugs? And I can list every single study on illegal drugs to prove my point that society will never consent to the legalization of those drugs we now classify as elicit. And you're getting on me about pointing out someone is wrong by calling me wrong - how ironic can you get?
lastminuteregret 2 years ago
Wow, eager to get off topic, eh?
Firstly, you stated people who think drugs should (not would) be legal were 'nut cases'. That's what I called you on, so don't weasel out of your original point.
Don't say something unless you mean it.
I pointed out you were wrong because you have such an attitude towards something you seem to know nothing about.
'Drugs' have been a huge part of human society since before history. Still are. They're not going away. & as I said: prohibition breeds criminality.

Whoo69 3 years ago 2
Last but not least, consider this: Do you REALLY want the state to rule your lives in such a huge way? Do you really want the state to tell you "Don't do drugs. We'll arrest you because we know what's best. Listen to us"? I mean, come on! The Drug War is like "1984" in America. I for one don't want that. The state should stay out of our personal lives. The culture and community of America must dominate and determine its future, not some half-wit bozos in Washington.
Whoo69 3 years ago 2
Why are we so wary with regards to state power either on economics or social policy (depending on your affiliation), but we give Congress and the exec. branch free reign over drugs, with absolutely no accountability? Do you really trust the gov't with fighting a drug "problem"? They'd make up anything they wanted, even if the problem were minimal, just to continue receiving funding and keep their anti-drug offices from being shut down. Authoritarian gov'ts suck ass. This is America!
Whoo69 3 years ago
Besides, when was the last time Congress actually held deep investigations into the efficacy of the drug war? Even during Iran-Contra, we didn't! Even after we learned the CIA had been shipping drugs in and out of this country for years! Even after we learned about Pablo Escobar, or Manuel Noriega being on CIA payroll to keep him quiet about drug trafficking. Are these the kind of 'trustworthy' officials to listen to on drug policy? I think not. Drug wars are a scam.
Whoo69 3 years ago
We break the monopoly traffickers have on drug sales and possession, and we can finally regain power over our communities.
Whoo69 3 years ago
The way to break a monopoly on ANYTHING is to introduce choice. If you wanna break the gov't monopoly on schools (that are crap in the US), give parents vouchers and enforce competition. If you wanna improve gov't efficiency, it's oftentimes a good idea to contract the services to the private sector with bidding. 9 times out of 10, competition works well. However, I am certainly not a Friedmanite on economics. I encourage incentives and competition but do not advocate privatizing all.
Whoo69 3 years ago
Competition could be within socity in general or within gov't, not necessarily just between gov't and private.
Whoo69 3 years ago
The only reason dangerous traffickers have any kind of power is because what they are doing is illegal, and people have no other alternative but to buy from or sell to them. Of course, this does not mean that people like child traffickers should be barred from punishment, but drug trafficking and whore-trafficking by pimps, for example, could easily be stopped if we had better access to brothels in appropriate areas with legal prostitution and decriminalized (at least) drug use.
Whoo69 3 years ago
If FARC and the terrorists in Afghanistan and other drug gangs had no one to sell to because it was easier for adults to possess by legally buying safe, corporate-made versions of drugs like marijuana in a convenience store (with ID carding by cashier, of course), they'd make no money! If we treat it as a public health problem and make it available for adults but encourage responsibility and regulate it enough, we can eventually indirectly wipe out drug lords. They lose their power.
Whoo69 3 years ago

alro2007 3 years ago
The most destructive force in society isn't drugs; it's the drug war that drives up the price of drugs and makes dealing them so attractive to criminals & terrorists, while flooding the prisons, devouring resources, and turning city neighborhoods into free-fire zones. . It's time for us all to take courageous steps to re-evaluate a failed policy.
"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right," ---Thomas Paine
choomanfoo 3 years ago
Drug wars fail in every single country they're put into action in. The Plan Colombia project is nothing but a bunch of a bullshit, and it sure as hell isn't working to weaken the terrorists FARC. Plus, it's screwing over farmers who have nothing else to grow and make money off of nowadays except coca. The whole world should do like the Dutch do with drugs. There is no excuse for prohibition of drug use or possession by harmless, law-abiding folks who just want a hit.
Whoo69 3 years ago
Legalized drugs fail in every country they have been introduced to as well. The answer is not in legalizing drugs and not in confining the user. The answer is in treating drug abuse as a health issue, and a moral issue as well.
Lobik42 3 years ago
then what about booze? That causes more deaths and driving accidents than being high on weed ever did, perhaps even some other less hard drugs as well. Plus, weed is impossible to OD on or get addicted to.
Whoo69 3 years ago 2
While there is no such thing as a safe drug, weed is obviously not as dangerous as other intoxicants, therefore, I do not have a problem with legalized weed. Legalizing cocaine, heroin, etc. would be disastrous.
You are incorrect that weed is not addictive. I was addicted to it for years. Any mind altering chemical can be addictive.
Lobik42 3 years ago
Btw, how many countries do you know of that have actually legalized drugs?? Even Holland's policy isn't legalization; it's swift decriminalization with some restrictions and fines for possession outside certain designated areas. Some countries actually can give you the death penalty just for possession! Lol! If the price of drug freedom is a relative few more deaths here and there from idiots with no self-control, I'll still support it. You should have the right to consume whatever you want
Whoo69 3 years ago
True, I should have said decriminalization, which is a form of limited legalization. Were drugs like cocaine or heroin to ever be legalized or decrimnalized here (will never happen) it would be more than a few deaths and it would not be just users. Addicts frequently cause the deaths of innocents.
Lobik42 3 years ago

too bad what you said makes no sense because every day people are falling over themselves to get to this country, legally or illegally.
cocaine, heroin, absinthe, ecstasy, LSD, Speed, practically every drug i can think of was legal at one time and it was a taint on society and resulted in many addictions and deaths. i don't see how legalizing and then taxing these deadly vices would solve anything, they were already legal at one time.
Daemonocracy 3 years ago
It couldn't have been that much more 'deaths and addictions' than today. I'm pretty sure the entire country wasn't high before the war on drugs started.
Whoo69 3 years ago
i say that because you cant stop people from doing drugs. its people own choice what they do with their body and if they wanna get addicted to coke then thats their problem. but you cant put a shitload of people in jail and punish them for making the concious decision to use a drug. oh and what addictions and deaths were caused by lsd?
stolenbaby472 3 years ago
treatment and rehabilitation over incarceration, though prison is not out of the question if an addict becomes a problem for the community. as for addictions and deaths from LSD, what are you kidding me? there are countless cases of people going insane on a bad trip and harming themselves or others. you can't be suggesting it is harmless drug, this isn't the 60s anymore, we've learned alot since then.
