@CharlieBrownreal and because something is popular it doesn't automatically mean it's a good thing. Finnish people prefer ice hockey and popularity isn't a reason to diss the sport.
If only the Swedes were as good sportsmen as you Canadians/Slovakians, instead they claim Koivu tried to irritate the swedish players after receiving the trophy because he cheered too much.. They just won the WC title for the second time in history for crying out loud!! They are obviously gonna cheer!! Get over your selves and accept the fact Finland was better!!
@klangenfarben It wouldn't have been possible for cops to interfere. There were hundreds of thousands of people all over Finland celebrating this. You need an army to stop that mass.
@Teerroo In the U.S. these sorts of celebrations are usually destructive, so the cops interfere quickly, but in 2004 tens of thousands came out to celebrate _peacefully) the first Red Sox baseball World Series victory since 1918. The cops shot a few rubber bullets into the boisterous-but-peaceful crowd gathered near the stadium and killed a young woman. If it was the whole nation, there would similar incidents around the U.S., sad to say.
Nothing like seeing people celebrate this kind of victory. Fans should watch this and learn - there is such a thing as championship celebration in the streets WITHOUT property destruction or setting fire to cars.
hey guys I need a quick reply, is It safe for foreigners to go to Helsinki to be a part of celebration. Because I got an email mentioning dont go out because I got an email saying " Heavy

@salikhanan, Hi, I would say it is very safe to go out and celebrate with all the other people. The probability of such an attack is minimal and even if that happened, there are lots of people who will protect you from that kind of idiots. However, as I mentioned, you should not be afraid of violence and you are welcomed to celebrate just as locals are. So go out and have fun!
@salikhanan as jnaama said you definitely can head out and celebrate with the finns. Today will probably be the craziest celebration in the history of Finland/Europe/World (except for Rio carnival maybe). Go and have a blast!
