I used to hate these motos but now I use them a lot to keep up and down the soi. Will be there in a matter of days and will be hanging on for dear life along Sukhumvit towards On Nut.
You know , Before Taksin become Thai PM . Motorcycle taxi's uniform how much? it's 30000-50000 bahts , they must pay for the magnate of area. PM Taksin he have good policy, cut the magnate off . Motorcycle taxi no need to pay anymore. That's why, they love Taksin.
you didn't give any tips like "how to carry your shopping home on the back of a motorbike when you're carrying your briefcase and tennis bag at the same time" hehe
also, you didn't mention costs - yes they're quick, but also only cost effective for the shortest distances otherwise taxis are the cheaper option
I agree, riding towards oncoming traffic in peak hour traffic down Ratchaprarop Road was one of the most fun and most scariest things I've ever done! Your right about keeping your knees in, wearing a skirt I sat sideways and I really was close to a lot of side mirrors. Arriving at the hotel was the same feeling of just finishing a roller coaster ride. Super fun!
@carajane55 I don't know who the ladies who sit sideways manage to stay on. I always have a strong grip on the hand behind me and even then it gets exciting over the bumpy roads.
yes motorcycle taxis are the best!! the danger factor makes it that little bit more interesting i think.. when you go over bumps on the road etc with no helmet.. it's a completely different experience to a tuk tuk or a normal taxi.. great video by the way! keep up the good work!
@mdmaking Thanks for your comment. The one good thing about Bangkok traffic is that it is so heavy most of the time the motorcycles can't get going very fast because when the traffic clears they really like to speed.
that's true, but the other day i went from soi 37 on petchaburi road up to amari atrium and it was pretty quiet so it was a pretty fast journey.. and i gave the rider 60 baht and he was so polite and happy.. i've been on several down the backstreets as well which feels a bit more risky with cars crossing thru roads etc. lol but yeah in peak hour traffic or going to places like mbk and places like that where the traffics bumper to bumper they'll be slower, but they love to get there fast
New York should have these, forget the safety nonsense in a free country adults make their own decisions.
