  • oi love banh xeo and banh khot

  • Banh Xeo tastes Ok to me, maybe it's just how my parents make it

  • u no wat?

i think this was shown on anthony bardains(spelling error)no reservations

  • the banh xeo in this video is a little light in terms of the yellow, i live in australia and all the banh xeo has a quite dark yellow to it

  • @kallo1234: The recipe in the video is a slight variation on the traditional recipe. People go there to eat because it doesn't taste like your typical banh xeo.

She uses curry powder but most recipes use turmeric (the spice in curry powder that makes it yellow). The amount of coconut milk used in the batter also plays a factor. Some families prefer omitting the coconut milk altogether. Most of the time you will not find mung beans in the filling.

  • i hate ban xeo it taste disgusting lmaoo

  • good on you mate. Keep it up

  • OMG, I went there alreadyy, it was the best

  • I am impressed that you know Banh xeo Dinh Cong Trang, seems like you are good at finding good food at 'in-the-wall' places.

  • You said Bang Xeo wrong.

  • i eat banh xeo before if good .....but make sure you know to make it.

  • That amarican guy is too trouble some....if he wants to show off how to cook vietnamese food he better show it clearly and step by step how to cook it instead of showing his face and speak too much....!

  • looks like a lot of calories to me

  • i've been there!

  • @lyndonwiebe )'m gonna make it this weekend ...for my birthday & Noel...^^ do u wanna join with us ???=)))) ( why cant i post this cmt ??? dude...:(((((

  • ok,that's a Buddhist way of thinking too,it's good to be thankful to the cooks, and waitresses and waiters and farmers who grow the food.Working for the public(restaurants)is very hard work too!.Usually the food is delicious,so Ican't help but eat it all!!!!!!

  • its xeo does not mean sizzling. sao is what you're saying and that means sizzling. xeo is just the name of the cake.

  • what is the yellow seeds u put in it after the liquid?!

  • Not bad , not bad ! Now you can open a restaurant dude ! haha . I am surprised that you did it so well. I am a Vietnamese and I made banh-xeo many times but it is not all the time I can succeeded like you at just the first time.

  • @VSAK2007 i did it 3 times! hahaha the first 2 times I made it I burned it! I guess she is a perfectionist!

  • dangit ... he makes me wanna go back to vietnam right now >.>

  • hahhaha xDDD like you guys.... great vid ;D

now... I want to go to Vietnam, too T^T

  • you don't know how badly I want to eat banh xeo.

  • there r many kind of the Banh Xeo. Banh Xeo, which have yellow, is belong to the South of VN. besides, the best Banh Xeo is the Centre of VN. You can see it in Ninhthuan Province, Binhthuan, Khanh Hoa, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen...they make Banh xeo different with the way making Banh xeo in the South of VN.

  • Im Vienamese and I Fucking love Banh Xeo !! Banh Xeo FTW !!! ^ ^

  • I can cook that way better then this guy....

  • Good video. It's kinda funny. LOL

  • Less Talk and more Wok. Ancient chinese proverb...

  • you have done a wonderful job. it looked really delicious. you guy are the best of the best.

  • Aw the guys are cute.

  • Cool, thank for uploading.

  • i think Thanhthanh97 is correct about preparing it with Tumeric powder!,I'll prepare it with Tumeric...

  • At 3 different resturantst in Seattle and at each place they served the crepe on top of a large, cricle rice paper. I've seen one person start using the rice paper after the lettuce was depleted. When eating a new food I usually start watching other people eat it. I still havne't used the rice paper deal.

  • lol..nice try. =)

  • I love love love Banh Xeo!! Love!

  • good job bro, keep it up

  • her name can't be twee...there is no letter W in the Vietnamese alphabet

  • My mom cooks the best ones.

    [:

  • @7335561 doesnt everyone say that about there mom? my makes it pretty good too haha

  • this is soo good my mom puts shrimp, mushroom, pieces of beef in it when i eat it

  • good job my man!!! looks good!!!

  • .... its kinda annoying when white people try to speak Vietnamese .... im sorry....

  • omg that looks sooooo good!

  • yea, make sure bring the recipe to America, n start open ur own Banh Xeo restuarant!!! American Banh Xeo

  • @Tien1185 sadly there is a "banh xeo Dinh Cong Trang" in little Saigon....my family went there and checked....why i say sadly? because they use our brand name , without asking us for any permissions..

  • I think I should try this kind of Banh xeo xD, though it's a bit different from the one I've tasted.

My grandma (and some food stalls in my city I believe) don't use onions and shrimps, instead, they have a mixture of green beans, bamboo shoots, pork, bean sprouts and spices. We use the hollower pan. That would make the middle softer and the edge crispier. You may also find it easier to turn the yellow part over when using it.

Thanks for the video! Maybe I should go to Saigon this weekend :)!

  • my friend owns this place he studys in australia

  • we may looking at a future famous chef here..... it looks so yummy.

  • It looked so delicious the way he was preparing it in the video, now I want to cook it too! The thing is the yellow part(is it curcumin?) is complex to fry without tearing it while turning it over!!

  • The yellow was a bit of curry powder. She didnt use much. The trick is to use lots of oil until it gets very crispy, then it is quite easy to flip. You need to keep adding oil because it keeps soaking it up!

  • @lyndonwiebe it's nice u like my country's food

  • @lyndonwiebe Usually banh xeo uses turmeric powder, not curry powder. If it was curry powder, the taste would be way different and spicy. In my opinion turmeric powder is best. This coming from a Vietnamese person who's had experience cooking this dish.

  • @Tiennumidori I agree. It's usually turmeric. Perhaps something was lost in translation? (I'm Vietnamese and I have experience cooking this, too)

  • @lyndonwiebe It is not curry but rather turmic powder.

  • hi guys,i've cooked BANH XEO it's really delicious, and i think the yellow powder is not curry powder, its turmeric power,if u put curry power it will taste different..believe me,im vietnamese, she teach u the wrong way...

  • hi guys,i think the yellow she uses is not curry powder, its turmeric powder,if u use curry powder ,it taste different, believe me,im vietnamese, good luck guys

  • Pork oil ? lmao...you are so cool the white you trying to make Banh Xeo. thanks for shared this video :)

  • Vietnamese food is the best. you guys make me so hungry and miss the street of Saigon. love it all

  • In Vietnam, and or Vietnamese-American restaurants here in U.S.A., do they think it is polite to eat all the food(leave nothing in the dishes)or is it polite to leave a little when leaving the restaurant?I

  • I think usually in Asia if you are full, you leave just a bit of rice on the plate.

  • @lyndonwiebe I've been to vietnam 4 times. If your the guest, they want you to eat ALL the food, and they'll keep giving you more food...lol

  • @lyndonwiebe Hey u just walked past my GRANDMA'S place!

  • @CulturePeaceForever lol. my parents own a stand in a food court and i help them out. from my experience.. it makes my parents happy to see when their customers eat it all up. lol. that means it was delicious! lol. buuuut.. it's understandable if the customer was full.

  • @CulturePeaceForever In Vietnam, there are still many people go without food so it's better if you can finish everything on your plate ( tip: take small portions so you can take as many as you want/can without leftovers). And it's also a way to show respect to people who provide you the food, from the farmers to the chef. In the viet-american restaurants, they would love you to do so since there're less stuffs to clean after.

  • we love eating Banh Xeo...I like the way the restaurants in the West Coast cook it.They make it bright yellow, lite, and crispy delicious...What vietnamese out-door food stalls called in Vietnamese?

  • she looks fucken pissed when he burnt the banh xeo lol

  • you guys did a great job cooking the banh xeo...my girlfriend is vietnamese and it's her favorite dish to eat.

  • Very nice! It helps exponentially when a video is coupled with a written recipe for this. Thanks!

  • Awesome video! I love watching westerners learning about asian cultures.

  • ..i remember not too long ago most of american and westerners used to run away and looked at us strange thinking why we would use some thing smell like fish sauce ...and now seems like theyre loving it .!lol

  • My wife put's green onion in the batter. I call this dish a Vietnamese pancake, or omelet.

  • that was quite interesting...looked tasty...lol

  • I love the way you capture the feeling of the places you visit. Please upload some more videos from Indonesia :D

  • "paint it black" the unofficial national anthem of vietnam

  • Ho Chi Minh city (Saigon) "Banh xeo" ......

  • banh xeo + nuoc nam (viet fish sauce) = WIN

  • NUOC MAMMMMMMM 4-EVA!!!!! Friggin love banh xeo! (yup, i'm white0

  • Dinh Cong Trang is the street where you can find the best Banh Xeo in Saigon. Street food in sagion has its own place and certain street that you go to.

  • Looks good, you should eat it with salad and dip it in fish saus mixed with chili so it isn't so dry. Great work guys!

  • great video! I miss the food in VN now even more after watching this.

  • funny she is watching over his shoulder... we asians are like that though...no BS, really honest, and sometimes it comes off really mean.

  • her name is not twee, there is no W in the vietnamese alphabet. Her name is Tui

  • @jasmine7avatar her name should be Thu, haha Tui is a weird name in VN cause tui mean I in english. in fact I am VIetnamese. love the video, miss VN so much

  • @TKNMT Actually, I think her name is Thuy, considering the fact that the video spelled out the pronunciation.

  • i can play this song good on GUITAR HEROOOo!!!!!!!!

  • @chaaanna song name please ?

  • it's me again! and yup, thanks for everything, i will facebook this video.

my mom's name is Thuy, not Twee, lmao! but yeah, that's how u pronounce it.

come back next time and learn other dishes. my mom will be more than happy to teach u guys..:)

it was Tet (lunar new year) aye? when u were walking to the restaurant i could see flags and closed doors, because that street's always packed and crowded.

thanks again, hopefully more tourists and youtubers will come to my place by watching this.

  • Hello! Thanks for watching and glad you liked it!

We are so sorry we spelled your moms name wrong!

Would love to come back again sometime!

Tell Thuy thanks again. Take care!

  • @Yourmotwashum oh i have a friend name Thuy, like ur mom, but my teacher always calls her "kwee". lol. and her english is very good. because I, a vietnamese, know that not a lot people at her age can speak english that fluently. this video makes me hungry. :D

  • Was she getting pissed?
