  • it was cool until 2:25!!!!

  • mmmm naughty

  • Thanks for adding this song! The Bee Gees had an off night while ol' Chuck Berry was hot (I feel like he could be the real KING OF ROCK 'N ROLL)! But I won't argue the matter!!

  • Amazingly cool video!

It's clear to see the drop in quality when the BGs come on stage.

Two different generations clumsily put together by some clueless concept.

Lord Berry really works his portion, and then the BGs come off like 3 teenage girls with ass-tit-dude problems.

  • Chuck Beegees? WTF?

    Sacreligious!

  • At 0:50 man Chucks arm looks pretty huge, dam he was ripped.

  • VERY rare unsyndicated clip GREAT post!!!

  • 2:25... the moment that ended up this show...

  • The correct lyrics for the last stanza to the tune were: "We boogied in the kitchen, we boogied in the hall, I got something on my finger and I wiped it on the wall". So much for rock and roll purity...

  • 6 guys r neither Reelin' nor Rockin'

  • Great stuff !

  • Chuck Norris? HA! HA! I'm afraid ol' Chuck wasn't even on the map in 1973. I can see how younger folks would assume that's him. That's Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, who made some decent music in the 60s, but the disco craze of the 70s turned them into clowns. But Chuck Berry is a constant force in an ever-changing rock universe.

  • @kurtb8474 Chuck Norris was already on the map in 1973 (he made an appearance in a Dean Martin-movie in 1968), but Chuck Berry was more famous than Chuck Norris during that time. However, Chuck Berry started his carreer in 1955, Chuck Norris in 1968. However, the only thing Berry and Norris have in common is that they both have the name Chuck.

  • @Goedhartbros I stand corrected. He just wasn't a star in 1973. At least not recognizable enough to appear on The Midnight Special.

  • That's the BeeGees with him, not Chuck Norris, Kenny Everet and Farrah Fawcett..

  • @Pikie102

    You are a Genius!!!!!!!!

  • Just came across this searching youtube out of boredome. Chuck ha more rock n roll than Elvis could ever dreamed of Hail! Hail! The TRUE King of Rock n Roll!

  • why does the live version of this song have different lyrics than the studio version?

  • @aspiringguitarist91 I've seen a few Chuck Berry videos and he's changed the lyrics in this song every time he changed venues. Just his style I guess. Improv maybe.

  • i watch this show at chuckepisodes . org

  • Now that`s who Invented Rock-n-Roll---but the BeeGees couldn`t keep up with

    THE MASTER

  • I agree,WTF squared!?!

  • Chuck is great put those 3 guys should go away they sing very bad =D

  • this is the funniest video I have seen in weeks.

  • awesome!!!

  • What a greattttttttt clip.

    Thanks for postin

    Hope you are well

    Leo

  • Chuck Berry really laid the way how to play powerfull rock and roll guitar. GREAT !

  • ah chuck was the man who the hell had the idea of putting the begees on there with him

  • The description is so funny.

    I laughed a lot.

  • Chuck Berry Rulz. !!!

  • Sorry Mate

BUT the BeeGee's are in a different league.

    Chuck ROCKS!!

The BeeGee's are Disco and are a different thing (good in their own right) but no comparison to The King off Rock and Roll

    SORRY MATE!!!

  • F u k B-Gs. They should stick to their overproduced disco c r a p!

  • nice pants..............

  • beegees? who's fucking idea was that?

  • Chuck is great but whoever decided to put the Beegees on stage with him should have been taken out back and beaten....

  • @tmcg888 The BEEGEES are OK but NOT WITH CHUCK BERRY.

  • @tmcg888 yeh with a big shity stick

  • @tmcg888 with a rubber hose no less

  • @tmcg888 lol..

  • @tmcg888... couldn't agree more

  • chuck berry was great the bee gees made wanna punch my own nuts in god they suck

  • Wow, This type of stuff is nowhere to be found on today's Television. This was Free entertainment. Now you have to pay

for 100 + chanels of pure crap with nothing on. Once again corporate america fucks us over.

  • man were the beegees a bunch of fags!

  • I love chuck berry. i wish more musicians could/would play like this. we need less screaming shit and more MUSIC!

  • Amen brother.

  • WOW Chuck Berry with The Bee Gees what more could we ask for AWSOME MAN

  • fuckin awesome!

  • This just proves "all star" duets don't always work...

  • hey bishopduff-i know you didn't go to college so try goin' to fuck u

  • you forgot about the most ass kicker of them all------- richard penniman

  • aka little richard

  • dammmmmmmmmmmmmm the bee gees are hot!

  • all we got left is chuck and jerry when theey are gone no one is left from that era

  • ahem, little richard is still with us.

  • the true king of rock n roll

  • Fave Chuck tune always

  • "I jump back firm - like a cement mix".. thats awesome...

Chuck wrote some great songs!!! solid man!

  • Some good lyrics...just too bad Chuck gave little credit to Johnnie Johnson who wrote most of his songs and probably all of his hits. Johnnie, I guess, was happy to just sit in the back and play piano and be an unknown.

  • Johnnie Johnson was if not the best piano player there is... Saw him 2 times with the Kentucky Headhunters,,, Awesome show...

  • oh for sure man, J.J. was always the one who would stay in the shadows. R.I.P

  • great video, great song...until the beegees had to ruin it!!!!

  • Chuck is the best! I love Johnnie Johnson on the piano. Any comments? Those Bee Gees seem to be out of their element here.

  • And still rockin and rollin today at 82 !!!!!!! He's the reason I started playing guitar..cant get enough of that rockin rhythm.

  • Chuck Berry truly the pioneer of rock n roll and all rock music . The living legend

  • oh and just to keep the fun going, the next song in the set was Johnny Be Good...

  • and Oh by the way, the Bee Gees had the TOTAL respect of all the Black Artests of the 70's and they respected the artests of that time as well.

  • to everyone making negitive comments, get over it, this was about having FUN!!! Neither Chuck (whom I have the utmost respect for) or the the Bee Gees were taking this as seriously as you are. And quite franky I can watch this over and over, With Out Sound, just to see Mo in that yellow leather outfit, he makes my knees weak, damn I miss you MO! keep rockin dancin and Singing in heaven!

  • what the? those three chicks with the beards are pretty ugly back up dancers.

  • Great performance, then the Bee Gees killed it.

  • Chuck Berry was the first true rock and roll poet! Listen to the words of his songs.

  • Sorry folks, I am the worlds BIGGEST Chuck Berry fan, but I just can't do the BeeGee thing. Here they look and dress like drag queens. I'll bet ol'Chuck got a triple-BJ for letting them on stage for a little "brown sugar". Berry was in his prime back then. He was in tune, impecably groomed, and in control!

    Bless you Mr. B!

  • Agree 100% and those gays seem so clumbsy in such a cool song, they don't fit at all to say the least.

  • nigga pleeeease don't stop live forever

  • this is INSANE

the Bee Gees are like LSD casualty stage crashing hippies.

    NUTS

Almost as surreal as Chuck Berry on the "Lucy Show"

    thanx for posting this

  • oh my God ..that was great but funny as can be...that is the bee gees not chuck, kenny and farrah..man....

  • that was incredible, but why did the bee gees exist?

  • As far as I can tell, the BeeGees existed only so they could ruin my life. At least my high school years.

  • Why did the beegees wear girl clothes?

  • Chuck Berry is so cool it's not even funny

  • class!!!!!!

  • WTF are Chuck Norris, Kenny Everett and Farrah Fawcett doing on stage!!! Chuck shoulda smashed `em over the head with his Gibson, gaw dang!!!!

  • It's the bee gees not who he says it is, but yeah they are not suited to be on stage with Chuck.

  • LMAO!

  • If I could only only stand out like a cement mix at a quarter to six!!

  • AWESOME!

  • FENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love that bit at 1:00!

  • see.....even The Bee Gees get it !

  • funny..... he's funny in this one....

  • rock and roll would have never been the same without the legendary chuck berry....ur awesome chuck...u always be rollin' over beethoven, reelin' and rockin'!!!! way to go chuck!!!

    heheh cool pants too

  • This is probably the worst song in the entire Berry catalog for The Bee Gees to sing along with him. The song is about sex and they have four guys singing together. This is a solo song.

  • Legendary CHuck Berry.

  • It saddens me that people have already started forgetting what the Bee Gees look like. The influence that they have had on music from flower power through disco to current pop music...this is a great jam session that you don't see as much anymore in music, love this video!!!

  • It kinda bothers me how people who decide they like one artist, have to put down other artists like what I'm seeing here. It's kindof a bigoted view I think. Musicians are so much less judgmental of each other... I think they all just had a screamin fun time getting together on the stage like that - a once in a lifetime opportunity for each of them.

  • LOL@ chuck norris Farrah Fawcett and Kenny Everett..i can kinda see the resemblance! XD

    great post

  • >Try your best to ignore them and watch Chuck!

    I love your comment !!

    Thank you for posting.

  • when did the song be released?

  • This song was first released back in 1958! It was the B-side to Sweet Little Sixteen!

  • Great show from all them on stage. Rock Rock Rock! Chuck the Duck!

  • I remember Chuck Berry on stage at the Festival Hall in Melbourne (Australia) in the 70's and I ran up on stage and kissed him while he was playing this. I recall he had the softest skin I have ever felt on a person. Like silk, gorgeous.

  • the fucking bee gees..how embarrising for the great chuck berry..chuck rulzs the planet!!

  • I agree with you whole heartedly!!

  • George Thorogood does a AMAZING cover of this great tune =w=

  • YOU'RE RIGHT "IT'S A COVER".

  • Which means what?

  • Does George Thorogood do anything amazing besides tune his guitar to open G and lay a slide across the neck and shake it?

  • I think this performance is great. I like how Chuck adds new lyrics to live performances.

  • Plain and simple, Chuck Berry is the most important figure in the history of rock n roll

  • You got it,RIGHT ON!!

  • If The Bee Gees went for a doo-wop, Moonglows vibe here it woulda worked

  • there's no denying chuck berry's energy!!! bee gees were great, too!

  • Not the Bee Gees best work, although this is one of my fave songs of Chuck Berry. It's still good to see them all together. Remember this was a time when the 50s RnR music began to be played to death, like the 60s-80s is today. You had to almost mock it like in Grease in order to get people to get in to the ol' time boogie again.

  • Actually, if this is from about the time of Grease and Saturday Night Fever (which I think it is) the Bee Gees were at the height of their popularity... but the world was getting fed up with disco and hungry for rock n roll

Which is why the Bee Gees and Chuck Berry were on Wolfman Jack's show at the same time ;)

  • No the Bee Gees success was a few years later. But the point I am making is, that knowing the Bee Gees very well, they are not taking themselves seriously. Old time rock n roll in 1973 was passe, and heavy metal was in.

  • I get 'goose bumps' listenenting to THE REAL KING OF ROCK & ROLL ( CHARLES 'CHUCK' BERRY)

  • the beegees look like a pair of knobs, how embarrassing!

  • All I know is..Chuck was talkin about fuckin in 1955.........go Chuck

  • The Gibbs guys shoulda come out after the instru. beak and stayed outa Chuck's spotlight.

(Interesting this was following many BeeGees classic melodies and prior to their classic discos).

Their bag will never be '50s style R & R - bad mix. Thanks Chuck for keepin' it together.

  • They were great at their own music buy it's hilarious seeing the Gibbs trying to scream rock... it just ain't in their vocal range.

  • I remember seeing CB on The Midnight Special or maybe another series that was produced by Don Kirshner 70's and if I'm not mistaken, Muddy Waters was on that same show, I have a vivid recollection of Muddy Waters being introduced by Chuck Berry. Does anyone remember seeing this?

  • Its on here on YouTube...just type in Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry and you should find it.

  • Even with those trousers, the Gibb Bros still look a lot more gay than the Chuck meister. And are/were...

  • Has anyone taken notice to Chuck's classic lyrics and stylish trousers? Rock on, Daddy!

  • was lookin forward to seeing a young Farrah Fawcett. Much to my disappointment out comes the Bee Gees, ::sigh::

  • Sorry about that dude. There's plenty of Farrah on here though.

  • Who are these three idiots? Ruined a otherwise awesome performance from the father of rock.

  • At 1:20 there's a shot of the unholy trio waiting to take the stage... standing still like statues, waiting to take the stage. They aren't even into it. Sad.

  • I'm tempted to do a re edit with a voice over of what the brothers Gibb might be sayin to each other at that point...any ideas? :D

  • Maybe they're mesmerized... watching Chuck's ass?

  • Yeah. We should do a whole bunch of blow with Chuck after this is after.

  • You should check out how the Bee Gees ruined Jerry Lee Lewis's performance on the Midnight Special. The BGs were very popular at this time, why does it seem like these Legends have to kiss their asses?

  • i saw chuck berry at the roots of rock-n-roll concert at the stanley theater in pittsburgh in 1979..there were five other acts there but chuck was the closer and he stole the show!!!ps i was in the tenth row..i could see the sweat rolling off of chuck!!!

  • The 3 people that joined Chuck on stage are the Gibb brothers - the "Bee Gees".... fyi.

  • Hey,man, we loved his music out in the suburbs as lilly~white as we were.Always played Chuck at house~parties.Made everyone get up and dance.

  • That was f**king dynamite till those three idiots showed up and ruined it.What in Gods name did they think they were doing?

  • they didn't want chuck to take all the glory..

  • "What in Gods name did they think they were doing?" They probably thought they were helping Chuck out by giving him exposure to their many fans, and he probably thought so too, but in any case all four of them appear to be having fun, how sinister...

  • My god, nobody can play rhythm guitar like Chuck, that groove!!! Hail Hail Chuck Berry
