  • Dear Apple, I, like many many others, have come to use and love your products on a daily basis. I rely on them, I trust them, and I make my living using them.

When you dropped Shake, I said "Ok fine, I guess we'll buy a flame". Now that Color is no more we bought a Davinci Resolve. Do you see a trend developing here?

I can't afford to just stop my workflow and learn again from scratch, this is HOW I MAKE MY LIVING! Please Apple, stop re-inventing the wheel. It already rolls beautifully.

  • "i a way we haven´t seen before" You haven´t edited in vegas video. GO TO VEGAS PRO IS SIMPLY THE BEST EDITING SOFTWARE.

  • There are no lock buttons for the sequences in final cut pro x. This feature is great in the previous Final Cut Pro versions.

  • So much whining! The TV/cable requirements are issues that will be fixed. The other criticisms seem to be knee jerk reactions by editors who are just scared of a new paradigm. After using FCP X on 8 projects I have come to really appreciate Its metadata base. Call it iMovie Pro, I don't care. I am cutting better and faster and making my clients very happy. By the way, don’t fool yourself that Avid and Adobe won’t integrate a lot of Apples ideas.

FCP X will only get better and better.

  • @battmail

You're either an amateur or a fool. Definitely not a professional editor. I use FCP since more then 10 years, I also use premiere and Avid. I have always praised FCP, now it's over. This is not a professional product, if you fail to see why you should probably do something else. Sorry to not sugar coat the statement.

  • @dulume Well said. A lot of people don't understand why professional editors are upset about fcpx. We invested ten years to fcp and they just sort of dropped us and wasn't apologetic about at all. I have switched to Premiere since and honestly I'm extremely impressed by Premiere. They have stepped up this program since its earlier versions.

  • @battmail Let's not forget that FCP X has integrated a lot of Sony Vegas ideas into this version ! That is one reason I'm excited about the version 10.

  • Simply put, FCP X is just an awful editing experience. I've spent too long trying to adjust, but it's a jarring and frustrating experience. The yellow iMovie clip cursor, the connectors, not being able to create tracks, the crappy novelty of color matching (which no matter what they say NEVER looks right)...the list goes on.

I wanted to love it - background rendering and single viewer are great, the built in "LiveType" and presets are useful...but they're not enough to save it :(

  • I agree with element1108. Jordan has sold his soul to apple - he described it as jaw dropping originally, then back peddled and said that jaw dropping is not necessarily a good thing. He like others have invested much in FCP so he is hesitant to trash-talk it. Way 2 go Larry - at this rate it will be 15 years before FCP is functional for professionals. I am waiting still for the names of the professional editors who apple was consulting with which led to this disaster.

  • I've been following this drama, and at this point, I think a fundamental problem with FCPX is: Editing within FCPX is about manipulating the meta-data (the information associated with the content). But "editing" is a visual experience for me. FCPX turns me into an accountant managing spreadsheets. I never wanted to be that, so FCPX is not for me.

  • FCP X is consumer trash.

  • Sad that people who have to learn new things and re-think the process say this is a bad product.

  • @LambdaJM

If you have a professional workflow to conduct this software is unusable and ridiculous. If you want to make your holidays movie then it's fine.

  • Why don't Apple teams call it iMovie Pro instead of Final Cut Pro X? And Apple should make an update Final Cut Pro 8 with the same Final Cut Pro interfaces so that many Final Cut Pro editors don' t have to spend time, money, and efforts to learn the new software (Final Cut Pro X) which they don't like. This "Final Cut Pro X" causes so many confusions to many Final Cut Pro editors.

  • Thanks for posting the video, very interesting. Not knowing enough and leaving the fate of your company in the hands of apple (while at the same time having them pull the otherwise useful tools from under your feet) is very strange to me.

The pomp and circumstance behind these keynotes are ways to sell programs/gadgets now so that could explain the executive presence. ?? It's all planned whatever the case, maybe not the reaction..but everything else has been "foreseen".

  • what about split edits??
