  • hey titustheworshipper, I just had my3rd shunt surgery too. had pounding headches on 1/2/12 so I went to the E.R. then took an ambulance to the hospital where Nwurosurgery is a specialty. hung out in ICU for a few days cause I coded after arrival (breathing tubes down your throat are NOT fun but then again neither is surgery the shunt this one is replacing was too imbeded in bone to safely remove so they plugged it up. #3 is the programable kind. what kind did you get?

  • Thanks for sharing. My son is three and we have had countless shunt revisions. I appreciate you sharing your story!

  • i have had a shunt since birth. i only had to add to the tubing. no major problems. THANK GOD, i wish you the best of luck. GOD bless.

  • Karina, you ARE a walking miracle! The things you've gone through are your trademarks that set you apart as unique and totally different to God! Though he may have not causes them to happen, He will see that they work out only to make you a better person! :)

  • HEY HOPE EVERYTING WENT OK ITS BEEN ALMOST 2 YEARS FOR MY SHUNT AND FOR 9 MONTHS I WAS 6 TIMES HOSPITALIZED FOR 3 WEEKS EVERYTIME AND I HAD 3 SHUNT REPLACED AND COUNTLESS EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS BECAUSE SOMETIMES IS DRAINING MORE OR LESS AND THEY HAVE TO FIX IT AH AND 2 TIMES BACTERIAL MENINGITIS IN THE SHUNT YEA I THINK IM A WALKING MIRACLE IM OK NOW HOPE EVRETING GOES VERY GOOD FOR YOU TAKE CARE GOD BLESS YOU!

  • I'm in the process of finding out if a shunt would be the best thing for me or not. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension back in April. I'm really afraid of the surgery and the many revisions/replacements that may follow. But, being on all these meds sucks. You take them for one thing, then they give you 234342 other problems! I know that God will take care of me though. Thanks so much for posting this inspiring video. I really appreciate it.

  • ,mmmmmmmmm

  • hey man i hope your ok now,,i have a aracanoid cyst on my brain its massive over 7cm by 6cm and its putting alot of pressure on my brain.,,have had 3 previous surgerys, which involved a craniotomy fenestration, never really helped ,now they want to try a vp programmable shunt, they say the failure rate is 50%.im a little worried but i believe god will help me.what was your shunt for?and when was the last time you had it replaced, how long has it lasted?your reply would be very helpfull n appreciatd

  • My husband has hydrocephalus - shunt since birth I think. I'm terrified of him having to get a replacement. I pray for both of you daily

  • i'm 17 and have spina bifida. i've had a shunt since birth and it's been replaced 68 times. God definitely knows wat he's doing. my friend might be having shunt surgery on monday. i will continue to pray for you, please do the same for us

  • hey man, good to know everything went well. i think i'll have to have another surgery as i'm 21 years old and have had a vp shunt since age 3.

i have a question. how does it feel after surgery? i think my skull will have to be cut again, possibly my stomach too.

  • To be 100% honest with you, it feels like you've been hit by a train... So don't be afraid to ask for MEDICINE!!! Take it as frequently and as much as they will allow... There's no need to be in more pain than necessary, and that's what medicine is for. You won't get addicted to these pain killers, because there for such a short time, and they are so needed... Having said that, it's not as bad as I expected it to be. Within a few days I was wanting to get up and do stuff, but don't overdo it!!!!

  • I've been praying... Let me know what's going on! God's never giving up on you, don't give up on Him!

  • hey I have just recently been diagnosed with hydrocephalus so I have a long road ahead. I'm 19 years old and it got bad after I had my baby! I am also a believer! Any advice or words of wisdom?

  • Hmmmm... Embrace what God is doing in you... This can be a time of growth for you if you let it be... Trust in God... You will look back and see how much your faith has grown, even in the face of questions... And there will be plenty of those as well! Keep me updated with your progress... I'll be praying for you! =)

  • Thanks for those words:) I added you on facebook too... I hope thats ok

  • Absolutely!

  • Thank you for your bravery, and message. I am two weeks out with my VP shunt and having difficulty, emotionally and physically, you have inspired me even through my tears. God Bless You!

  • I know what you are going through... 4 surgeries in two years... I'll be praying for God's intimate presence and strength in your life!

  • Intense...

I love your song in the background!!

  • just got my shunt 2 weeks ago! i'm 22 and was diagnosed 6 months ago. didn't tolerate diamox, lasix ineffective.

    lost vision & hearing.

i have a separate condition where i get a migraine every single day, so i'm used to pain. how many revisions have you had?

  • I've had one revision so far...

Diamox was unsuccessful for me as well. I just was prescribed an alternative to Topamax (because it's so expensive) called Zonegram (generic is called Zonisemide) and it seems to be helping some...

    I'll be praying for you... = -)

  • I'm on zonegran as well, but they said i can get off now that i have the shunt to do the work for me.

do you have a medtronic shunt?

how did you know you needed a revision?

the prayers are MUCH appreciated, tonight especially - it's been a pretty horrible night physically, and i need Jesus.

  • Hey sprinklefriend... I've been thinking about you... How are you doing?

  • glad you're okay bro!

  • how many operations have you had ive had 4 so far and im 17 in november i had my first placed at birth

  • hey dude i have a shunt also .. i lost a tiny bit of my vision because of the csf pressur when the shunt was busted and the hosptial here did not notice..and the pressure of the csf buildup pushed onth eoptical nerve of my eye and scarred it ... did you have any vision problem because of the shunt?

  • I haven't had any vision problems thus far... SO sorry to hear that happened to you!

    titus

  • I have vision problems, but I'm not sure if it's from any shunt malfunctions; symptoms are very similar to Squint, but I haven't been diagnosed for it yet.

  • I too have IH and luckily my pressure is being controlled by Diamox so far so no need for the shunt.(Though I'm not pain free) I feel for you and hope this new shunt works for you. Hope you are pain free now. Thanks for posting the video and getting the word out there on our rare disease.

  • I just found ur video, I am looking for aracnoid cyst info, Do you mind telling me why you are having a shunt, and replacing it? thanx so much. I hope you are doing well, best wishes.

  • Good luck dude
