I have been talking to my friends about the presidential elections for the past couple months, and they USED TO seem very indifferent about who gets voted in, but I'm glad to say that today, me and my 5 friends are carpooling to vote for Ron Paul.
People do need to realize that Ron Paul is not a true libertarian, but a states rights advocate. He'd be fine with states banning gay marriage or continuing a war on drugs.
@SinceretheGhost Yea, it's frustrating sometimes how strictly he wants to stick to the Constitution which shows that it may not be as perfect a document as everyone says. I'd still choose Paul over any of the other mainstream candidates though.
@dtothelu I think Paul is definitely the best candidate when it comes to financial reform, and foreign affairs, but I can't get behind his socially conservative views on abortion, gay marriage, creationism....Giving more power to states in those areas will affect a lot of people. If people support his stance on those then so be it, but I don't think a lot of them care, or know enough about them, when they say Ron Paul 2012. They decide on talking points and you tube vids, no research.
@SinceretheGhost Why not give those issues up to the states to decide? If the people want to have those things as options in their states, let them vote for it. Don't make federal laws that decide for everyone; nobody likes that.

Some states will become very strict on social issues while others will become very lenient. This will allow people on both sides to be happy because they can choose where they want to live.

I was happy when obama became president. But he did nothing good. Iv'e always bashed down americans for them being involved in wars they shoulden't be involved in, and for making bad decisions in the political aspect. I wouldn't like Ron Paul as president, but I would vote for him if he gets that far. His foreign policy is perfect, though it seems he cares about war for the money and not ending the unjust cause. He's the libertarian right, meaning he favors big business instead of big government, no lesser of an evil. He's a slave to the "free" market. But! I would love to see him have four years. As Commander in chief he could end the wars quickly but not create much else change. A good message to the world.
