The thing that ALWAYS bothered me about Chicago is when I was a noob driver, the local radio stations would (and still do) make their reports with the highway names and not mention the assigned highway number.

Kennedy, Dan Ryan, Northwest Expressway, Tri-state...etc. If you don't know the names, then you don't know what highway the radio station is talking about...lol

It took me several years to memorize which highway had which name.

Chicago Transit Authority got their name because some of them worked for the CTA, and they used that name when playing clubs around town. After their first record came out. Mayor Richard Daley said that he didn't want the CTA associated with a bunch of rock-playing hippie radicals, so under thread of legal action or cracking upside the head (remember 1968), they dropped the Transit Authority - but kept the city name, which he couldn't do anything about.
